Yes, the data is outdated. I fucking hate converting unixtime, so I do not do it regularily.

I think it is a triangle continuation pattern https://www.exness.com/education/technical_analysis/trend_continuation_patterns The price went above the upper trendline a bit. I think it is a false break out. Time will tell.

Would you be surprised to learn that it is becoming more and more acknowledged among academia that psychiatry is a pseudoscience and metal illnesses as defined and diagnosed by psychiatrists are false concepts?

I'd believe it. The consciousness defining industry, I mean, psychology, is serving the State, not people.

Psychologists are okay (not all of them of course). Psychology will soon (10 - 20 years) merge with neurology. My girlfriend is involved in a research project aimed for merging some psychology concepts with neurological concepts into one single theory / science.

You should be afraid of psychiatrists and psychiatry- psychiatrists are the guys who put pills into you that turn you into a zombie.

one should be very cautious when people talk about professions they dont learned themselves.

''learned'' I think is a misnomer here.

Quote from: wilfried on June 16, 2013, 07:35:08 PM
so if you are mentally sick...

How do you / psychiatrists define ''mentally sick''? The problem is any definition of a ''mental illness'' you will ''learn'' at a medical university does not meet even loose (not to mention ''rigorous'') scientific criteria of a valid and objective concept.

Quote from: wilfried on June 16, 2013, 07:35:08 PM
in a way that a treatment requires drugs

I would rather use the word ''mistreatment''

Quote from: wilfried on June 16, 2013, 07:35:08 PM
(as a supplement to othe kinds of treatmens or not) only psychiatrists could help (another question is if you believe in medicine - some people argue that pills dont help against mental illnesses).

Yes, psychiatrists could help. They sometimes do help (by mistake). Do you know what a real-life rate of a standard psychiatrist being able to prescribe a proper drug that actually helps the patient? Almost ZERO percent.

Normally it looks like this: a patient tells the symptoms of the so called illness and a psychiatrist prescribes a drug. In a thee weeks time the patient shows up and tells he feels even worse. Then the psychiatrist subscribes another drug. In a thee weeks time the patient shows up and tells he feels even worse. .... After 5th - 8th attempt the so called psychiatrist manages to prescribe a drug that helps. At that time the patient is turned into a zombie. Yes, you guessed; the patient would have be better off if he had not seen the psychiatrist at all.

As you perhaps know a majority of school shootings in North America was committed by students addicted to ''medicines'' prescribed by the so called psychiatrists. Here are stories of one only group of antidepressants called SSRI http://ssristories.com/

The green daily candle forming today is VERY similar to that of 25th of June, the day after the previous downmove. It is a bearish candle generally showing a failed attempt at a rally. Today looks like another failed rally after a step down. So if history repeats, we may go sideways for a day or two, followed by a continuation of the downtrend ... or not  Wink

Okay, then I'll go long when this pattern is completed. What price should I place my buy order?

I am looking at low 80's as the next target for a decent bounce personally

If the picture poster is correct with his two circled candles (he should have used a non-log scale and a better resolution) then one might expect:
- first the price to jump to 104
- then sharply decline to 86-84
- and then go up to about 105

This is just my assumption of what he might look for, if indeed he looked for the pattern in which we are now between point 3 and 4.

This https://www.tradingview.com/e/?symbol=MTGOX:BTCUSD# stopped updating. They were cut off from MtGox API.

Other charting services are updating.

Do you guys know if there are two kinds of MtGox API:
- standard one for standard customers (which hangs, lags and disconnects sometimes / often) - I suspect TradingView uses this one.
- heavy duty one for whales and / or web charting services (which does not disconnect often) - I suspect other charting services like BitcoinWisdom use this better API.

No. My thoughts are are in a long-long-term bull market (subject to be invalidated by a better crypto currency). We are in a mid-term bear market. From time to time we should be bulls on a short-term basis.

Quote from: Voktar on July 06, 2013, 12:42:36 PM
My toughts are that not enought new money is coming to the markets to sustain the current prices levels and if we are going up by the next week is only because the same speculators left are pumping the price to dump later (nothing wrong with it tought).

Speculators came to the market on Gox between 21 June - now. I see it on the chart.

It's true that we are going down a little too fast, so a rebound is expected but i don't think we are going to see $90-$100 in the next two weeks.

We went down at the right speed (even faster would be better) to justify reaching $90-$100 in the next two weeks.

You should actually know, you'd need to talk to market data providers, not to the NT devs as NinjaTrader allows you to import any symbol you wish, but limits the choice of data providers.

To my knowledge (top confidential) devs of one of this platform already started talking to exchanges to add them as not only supported data feed, but also to integrate with exchanges' trading gateways - this means simple one-click trading.

--------------------

DOM (including walls) analysis can be of importance when you trade leveraged instruments, markets are liquid, spreads tight, trades can be short yet profitable and infrastructure sufficient for HFT.

Walls have no significance for current BTC trading (other than watching them for entertainment). Have you seen how many walls were eaten / withdrawn on the way from 136 to 66? Was there any significant wall at 66 that would justify trend reversal? Not really, yet Mrs Market reversed.

Walls are just smoke screens  Grin

BTCE under 80?

It is desired for Mrs Market, if she decided to go north, to cool down a bit before resuming this trend reversal. We might see prices slightly below 80 for a very short period of time.

If this happens it is a reassuring sign for those with long positions.

I am not using TA from books in my trading, but looks like one of your bookish TA patterns might emerge (if the price goes above 88 first, then it will make a low at 84.84 or slightly lower, and then it will go above the so called triangle).

Because we had been bottoming for a few days. All previous rallies did not have a proper prior bottoming to be sustained.

One thing is clear to me, we are still on a downtrend unless we touch at least $108 and $120 later (i always look at daily charts for that matter)

The price action in the last few hours indicates that $108 is in the gun-sights. There is no real enthusiasm for a full retreat after the foray to $104.

I can hardly see the enthusiasm in the bids (wall is found at 90), only coordinated large buys from a (few) whale to entice panic buying again.. And you know they always shit on us  later on..

Whales are your friends. When whales make mistakes, you just seize the opportunity and screw them.

Trust me, whales make mistakes very frequently, not only here (our whales are still in their infancy), but also in more matured / unfriendly markets. I saw traders from SG, Rabo and others blowing huge accounts and smart traders screwing them rather easily and mercilessly.

Go to:
- ''kreslik'' trading forum - this used to be a very good forum, now it became shitty
- ''steven hopwood something'' forum - never been there but a fellow trader posted there (not sure if he still posts) so posts and learning resources must be of good quality
and learn how to screw whales.

I think you deserve an explanation of what happened yesterday:

1. Your favourite daddy, Loozik, made a prediction and told you to be quick with your buy orders:

Daddy knew the price was going to drop to at least 93.87 (as per his picture), because Mrs Market demanded someone stimulated her clitoris (which happened to be at 93.87 and slightly below at that time). Daddy knew some whale would not resist the glory of this organ and will want to touch Mrs Market there at at that price.

At the beginning the prediction was going well and price started dropping in the anticipated direction. But after a few minutes the price action suddenly stopped and refused to go down. Why was that so?

My hypothesis is the whale noticed my post and picture here and realized someone was watching him as he prepared for the sacred act of clit stimulating. He was puzzled and had no idea of what to do next. Should he stop in the middle or continue while being carefully watched?

2. Daddy Loozik, having seen the whale had no clue of what to do, posted another picture for the whale so that he understands that if he does not act quick, he will need to spend a lot more coins to bring his finger to Mrs Market's clitoris from a much higher price of 97.

The whale did the arithmetic and followed the original plan to touch Mrs Market's clitoris by bring the price down to levels suggested by daddy Loozik.

3. What happened next? Mrs Market was pleased; someone stimulated her and she reciprocated with a price increase

Thnaks for the call Smiley

Did you notice how shy the whale was when trying to bring the price down to the levels indicated by daddy Loozik?

I think the whale is a SHE. She was very ashamed when daddy spotted her try to touch Mrs Market's clitoris. A guy wouldn't have hesitated, would he?
_________________________________________________________________________

So my guess is the whale is a woman, a heterosexual, bi-curious woman, who just wanted to touch Mrs Market on the clit in a stealth mode, unnoticed. If the whale is a shy woman, than she is probably my 18 - 30 yo target (it is important for me that she is not older than daddy). Older women are not so shy.

Well, I MAY have found a new girl friend  Grin

In general, people assume it's more than one person doing the manipulation, that's why I addressed it as a conspiracy. Although there's always the rich lone gunman trope that's not too far off.

Anyways, there's always walls, and many whales are not so bright. Some think they can manipulate the market, but chances are, people will try calling what they think is a bluff. Then there's the genuine whales who places large bid/ask walls in hope that they actually gets quickly filled, for better or for worse, which I think is likely the case here. But some people might think it's a bluff and sell into it.

As for whales with large orders, they think the market will go in a direction, and they want to cause a chain reaction by shifting their weight around. They aren't out to push the market up just a little then sell, they're in it for the more mid-term/long-term, unless they start to panic.

Most whales only place small orders, unless something big is happening.

Whales can't push the price where it doesn't want to go. Whales can't change the overall trend, unless they had millions, and timed everything perfectly, to include the correct wave counts, etc. This would likely be a great loss to them. It's better for them to go with the trend.

Some things are correct, some are not.

There are 3 group of traders (in general):
- plankton traders, who are 100% time on the market and are 10% correct
- whale traders, who are (depending on the group) 80 - 100% time on the market (they need holidays from time to time) and are 80% correct
- daddys, who are 1 - 10% time on the market and are 90 -99% correct

Whales screw plankton. Whales have knowledge of planktology and apply this knowledge with a use of various tools and actions, e.g. they scare them with walls, they have shills spreading news like ''I see a head and shoulders'', I see a double top'', and what not. Some of these shills even accept donations.

Daddys screw whales (and indirectly plankton; you know whales need to cover losses they suffer from daddys and screw plankton even more). Daddys have knowledge of whaleology.

I was wondering from where this "whales are stupid" attitude originates? I somehow doubt "they don't have any knowledge nor care that much, because they have tons of money" for the plain simple reason, that they have so much money. I think I'll take some time soon and replay the market to see, if they usually have a correct feeling for the direction or not.

The stuff I read elsewhere was often something like "try to follow the big money".

Edit: Loozik -> https://www.google.com/search?q=420 Wink

Dex, if you have lots of money you do what whales do. It is relatively easy and guarantees stable profits.

If you do not have lots of money, you do not follow plankton and you do not follow whales. You find your own edge: you explore the inefficiencies of both plankton (emotions, bookish TA) and whales (slowliness and mistakes)

I strongly believe that most TA is entirely useless for Bitcoin at this stage. The trading volume is too small.

Trading volume is not important if the price goes in your direction.

Which of the two would make you more happy:
a) earning 5% at big trading volume, or
b) earning 50% at small trading volume?

If you answered b, then you should never worry about what you perceive as ''small volume'' again.

What do you mean by ''price manipulation''? Does MtGox display wrong prices? Are these prices non-execution bogus prices or what?

Seriously you think they could do a little better than this. Oh yea and they have like 1.2% spreads, and charge 6% interest on margin for each DAY.

Here I am excited that ill be able to use the mt4 im so used to trading with for Bitcoin, and the chart turns out entirely butchered to the point of indicators not even being reliable, and these gigantic interest rates that essentially say "If you hold this overnight, you're entirely screwed."

Now you made some valid points (if they are true). Let's see if Avatrade addresses them. If I understand it correctly Ava started Bitcoin CFD yesterday. I would give them a month or two to fix their issues.

No it's a CFD. Bitcoin on paper.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Contract_for_difference

Yes, I know it's Bitcoin on paper. I want to know whether it is based on:
a) a price from a certain exchange like MtGox (Plus500 does it) - one would be fine with it because one can easily verify the price
b) a price derived from an unknown algorithm (1broker does it) - one would expect to be fucked in the ass.

I don't know. Plus500 like to freeze trading when the price is moving

It is often that exchanges / brokers have 2 types of data: throttled or snapshot one for average traders (like Interactive Brokers or Dukascopy) and a quality one for data broadcasters and big players.

Either Plus500 uses standard API that Gox avails to retail traders (which often breaks at fast price movement) or Plus500 indeed screws its customers (which is typical for bucketshops). Plus500 is a bucketshop.

Quote from: 01BTC10 on August 06, 2013, 02:04:07 PM
and 1broker don't seem to be doing it.

1broker does something else - quote from their website:
Quote
Our algorithm uses several data sources to calculate the current price. This protects us and our customers from market manipulations.

1broker manipulates the price (through the algorithm only they know) and then claims to be saving you from manipulation. You can't make this stuff up  Grin

Plus500 freeze trading to screw customers with all their products. They owned me once. 1broker algorithm is working way better for me.

Every bucketshop screws their customers either through MT Virtual Dealer Plugin or through some other inventions. Once the bucketshop finds out your trades are profitable they manipulate prices and delay your orders. It happened to me many times. Once I waited 15 minutes to get filled.

BTCUSD keeps on surprising.

MtGox with its higher prices seems pretty much neutral, Bitstamp with prices lower than MtGox looks as if (probability lower than 50%) it wanted to drop to 85, BTC-e with prices even lower than Bitstamp looks as if (probability lower than 50%) it wanted to drop to only 90.

It is not a call (it can't be a call given such a shitty probability). I am just extremely curious about what is going to happen within the next 2 weeks given arbitrage peculiarities in the Bitcoin realm.

If 125 was the top, then by the 27th price should be between 115 and 120 IMO.

When I went long at 66, The probability was:
1% - will deepen the 50 low
99% - will go to 122 - 123

Then, if 122 - 123 is reached
- 35% bearish
- 65% bullish reaching levels 138 or 152 or at least 300

At that time Gox was the king.

Now things are more complex and one needs to read charts (reading more than charts is impossible - there are no quality tools for traders in the crypto realm) from 3 exchanges at the same time to make sense of what will happen next.

If my math is correct (it is not easy to do it with regard to 3 exchanges while using no software for it, just eyeballing) such a buy should not happen before price dives to 106 - 105.

But a guy who has cash for a single 5k buy surely has better math than me.

I do not see the prediction on your chart. Can you use tradingview and paint those subwaves on a chart? I am interested to know what these waves would look like.

Uber-bulls have nothing to worry about, the price is going 'up uP UP', 'to da moon', parabolic, whatever you want.

If you historically had the below set up, it could have brought you some good entries and most importantly good exits. Yes, I know divergences that are unsupported by additional studies can be pretty much misleading. The current divergence can therefore mean shit.

Don't you think that the only reason for BTC exchanges not to offer this facility is because they're all playing there own markets?  I can't understand it otherwise.

Maybe it's because they are playing their own game, maybe it's because they cannot get their engine more sophisticated due to their poor coding skills. Maybe ... I don't know.

I am just plain angry. I saw the recent bottoming at 121.25, and I didn't trade. I wanted to go long, but ... what if the price disrupted over night? - then I wouldn't have been protected. I am not happy Gox.

I hope MtGox has such a secret API - all major exchanges do have it for the biggest players.

The way I see things now (just trolling): about 50% odds of going to at least 360 very quickly and about 50% to go down below the last low of 110 on Gox. We'll know soon.

The way I see other things (just trolling) which MIGHT be of interest is 80% of S&P 500 will develop the first bearish wave within a few days. 80% probability is too low to go short right now but in a few days 80% probability MIGHT turn 99% probability.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/841290

Download FCIV, then run
FCIV -md5 -sha1 (path/filename)

If you post the hash (the result of running the FCIV program on the text file in which you write your prediction) then you can prove that the prediction is unchanged later when you choose to reveal what it was because people can check the hash and see that it was the same then as now.

Isn't Sha1 already cracked / broken / compromised?

No need for priv key, its just a hashing function that allows easy comparison.

Make your data for instance....'it will crash to $40 on Sunday. Xr898912' with the rubbish at the end so it's not easy to reverse.

When you post the hash output, we can verify it on Sunday when you post 'it will crash to $40 on Sunday. Xr898912' by doing the same as you done and comparing the output to the one you post today.

Make sense?

Lets make a test with gibberish data:

1. Let's assume that I post this hash:
63978b5bbe593d9a79813b4decabb35120747623693d89cbffb4c0156610bdfb

2. Am I correct to assume that when I am comfortable I will simply post the content of the pre-hashed data and you will simply compare the pre-hashed data with hash? What service will you use to compare?

Yes correct, we can use the same service, i.e. the previously posted website.

The pre-hashed gibberish data was:
'the price will crash to below 110. xyz'

How would the comparison / verifiction of the message vs the hash be done using the previously posted website?

Ok, I understand it now. You would paste the data and then see if generated hash is the same as the one posted by me.

Anyone creeped out by this slow low-volume recovery and all the selling?

TERA, there are some similarities.

Note, increased volume at blue circles (historical chart). That's where impatient speculators were buying in hope for the price to go from 104 to at least 190 (it went only to 136). First they bought at 104, then they bought at 91, and then the price fell even more causing them to partially exit with a loss. Each time they bought, the price went down (to 79). It was fun to watch.

They failed to analyze the increased volume at red circle + did not see some other things that happened earlier (not covered by your chart), which indicated for the patient speculators that the so called bull trap would develop later.

Well spotted!

Also he's been admittedly diagnosed with a bipolar disorder.

He simply reveals some extraversions, which CAN be indicative of bipolar disorder. So indicative of bipolar disorder are thought disorders which he does not have. He speaks and writes clearly.

I think Risto was misdiagnosed. He got simply pissed off by incompetence of a hotel staff.

If what happened to him happened to you or me, the hotel staff would be left with broken noses and broken limbs.

I can say 90% that this is what happened, he lost the private key, but he thinks that he can recover it, he reached for help, he told the Big guys about the problem, they were shocked and didn't want to help him and went out in 24 hour to tell us that Mtgox is insolvent instead of helping him recover customer funds, it was interesting how they just made a statement in 24 hours without any explanation to just tell everyone forgot your funds...

Edit: now if this is true, I really really hope that he will be able to recover the key and refund costumers, we really do not need that bad advertisement especially now...

If your hypothesis (privkeys lost) proves to be correct then the big guys had every incentive not to help - they run competitive businesses. They could simply turn their backs on Mark without negative consequences for themselves.

Assuming Mark somehow recovers the privkeys and Gox becomes operational, the big guys who used ''insolvent'' in their statement may find themselves in an akward position (statement issued, trading halted = losses for Gox).

Solvency and its opposite (insolvency) are precise financial analysis terms that can be read only from businesses' balance sheets (most widely solvency ratio* is calculated like this: ''total assets/equity''; solvency unlike liquidity relates solely to the balance sheet structure). I doubt guys who signed the statement ever bothered to look at Gox financial statements.

It will be interesting to see how things develop in case Gox recovers the privkeys (if this indeed is the case). I smell lots of cases for defamation and causing damage.

* solvency ratio for financial institution is typically low: central banks solvency ratio ranges 0.5 - 2%, commercial banks 5 - 7%, broking companies 1 - 3%

Gox's collapse will be a huge blow to bitcoin. Expect lots of ignorant merchants to simply withdrew from accepting bitcoins and expect potentially new merchants abandon their plans to start accepting bitcoins.

Bottom will be well below 400 and if btc ever recovers it might take years.

I dont think they would dump them now!

If they were stolen as long ago as people are suggesting (2011/12) then the chances are that they have already been sold.

Exactly. These stolen / inside job btcs have already been in circulation for a long time and are reflected in the prices on other exchanges. This is not a bullish news.

Of course this is bullish news - there are about 850.000 BTC less in the market than what the market thought: Everybody on Gox thought they had BTC - when in fact they didn't.

So the market now lacks those 850.000 BTC which means less supply at same demand... You do the math.

No there's not, if they were stolen then there is still the same amount of coins in circulation either off market or already diluted in the market.

The only time there is less coins is if the keys are lost.

Mt gox customers were trading and owned imaginary bitcoins

The 2011 crash proved that the market is far bigger than any one player. The price went from <$1 to $30 very fast and corrected in a steady downtrend. MtGox was then compromised (apparently via accountant's login) and the order book sold down to zero. This caused volatility and gox closed for 8 days while accounts were restored. The market continued the downtrend from where it was before the gox problem.

It was a badly executed flashcrash by the market maker.
