Please remember, a lot of selling in the hopes of buying more at a cheaper price, I think not a single bitcoin involved person has completely turned his back on BTC.
Heck, even ShroomsKit is still crying on this forum... consider it a bullish sign.

In the meanwhile al the coins being dumped now are also being bought.

Even the chinese are getting back in...

The only one who's going to be really crying are those buying back in last, among ShroomsKit will be one of them.

If bears and dumpers break $275 level, real shitstorm will hit the fan. Whales won't be buying unless it is a bargain price if that happens.
I don't know if we will reach that point or not, just saying.

Well if we go really low there will be more than one problem, Yeah people might buy but hashrate will collapse. Now if there are miners that can create 51% out there that opens a lot of bad possibilities.

What about the Russians?

‘You can play with you bitcoins, but you can’t pay with them’: Russia may ban cryptocurrencies by 2015
http://rt.com/business/187440-bitcoin-ban-russia-cryptocurrency/

if you are trying to smuggle your wealth, you wouldnt care about the small details

exactly, the writing is on the wall ....

what is interesting for me, if in fact this is a main driver of the price right now, is that last time with China the price was driven by Greed.  Now the price is driven by Fear.

I think the price can go much higher and stabilize at a much higher rate as this Fear won't go away quickly and may in fact grow.

Or unverified accounts are just moving coins out of bitstamp.

This is good, I hope all the Chinese exchanges get shut down finally.

Your wish may be granted soon.  The Chinese traders mining farms must be dumping and leaving the market, that is the easiest explanation for the 800$ to 370$ drop since January.  Still another 200$ down to go, I would guess, and then the Chinese Years will be over.

wow it seem ppl are waiting for december auction then it will rally or dive   Smiley

The price dropped ~50 dollars on June 13, when the previous auction was announced; and immediately recovered when it became known that a single bidder had bought all the coins.  Most people concluded from that fact that the closing price was above market.  Tim Draper's statements further reassured them that the coins would not be dumped on the open market.

I did not see any significant drop this time.  Perhaps the market now assumes that such auctions will have no net effect, and ignores them.

On the other hand, there is no guarantee that all the coins will again be scooped by a single bidder.  So far, Tim Draper got a huge paper loss on that purchase, and it seems that he will only enter a syndicate this time (meaning that he intends to bid for less than one lot).  Some of these 50'000 coins may be bought, well below-market, by short-term traders who will promptly dump them for quick profit.  If the coins go to several bidders, the mere suspicion that some may be dumpers may be enough to trigger a drop.

so the next 144 hours are critical to bitcoin... !!!!

How long after the last auction did Draper actually receive his coins? I would guess it took a few days (if not a week or more).

the most important is the auction result... if its seem bad then ppl start dumping right away they dont wait

Well how much will public know actually ?

Agreed... And this time too, it seems that for the same bidder to make his bids at the lowest rates possible and to make him recover his previous losses of up to $10 million, big dogs are going to dump this BTC hard and the guy seems to be so much interested and have so much faith in Bitcoins that he is again going to invest up to $19 million that he invested previously making a bid of $600 per coin, and so to make himself to recover his money back, he needs to get the price to nearly $250 and then again need a pump till $600 to get everything recovered and a small profit... The sky will be the limit then...

What the fuck? no more moon ? Is this confirmed ?

What the hell are CLAMS and why are they going parabolic?

Because just-dice reopened and they are using CLAMs. They were distributed evenly to every address that had bitcoin litecoin or dogecoins in them on some date in may. So if you had some non dust amount in your address at that time you probably have some too.

Interesting discussion chaps.

Yep bitcoin is high risk. Going all in is silly unless your are in your early twenties. Saying that I think it really is a commodity to hold for a couple of years at least, to smooth out blips on the long term trendline.

We remain at a great entry point for new buyers (could it get better, sure if we have disaster or a bounce off 275). But IMO the next wave won't get excited and start buying  until the price begins to rise again.

My view is that this extended bear market is being driven by new coins floating on the exchanges. The top 500 addresses are gaining coins, not divesting.

If stolfi is right and there are 650,000 addresses with any significant amount of btc in (and I have four cold storage addresses myself) then bitcoin holders propping the price  up represent perhaps 100,000 to 400,000 people globally, excluding off chain wallet services. I can easily see another 1 to 10 million people buying a bitcoin in the next mania of 2015/2016 can't you?

They say patience is a virtue and it has been tested this year for bitcoin enthusiasts!

Yep.

What's the rush for some people?
I'll happily HODL for 15-20 years & then cash out if we reach the moon.

I'm 27, what's the rush?

How many people are really rich under the age of 40-45?

This pretty much shows up how much you thought about what you are investing into. If bitcoin is around in 20 years you are not going to be "cashing out" even if we are high in price or if BTC is the same value or lower and is only used to small money tranfers and at that point inflation probably killed your investment anyway.

I think neither halving or ETF are major reason for next big rally. What will be the real fuel is to simplify bitcoin enough for non tech savvy people and some financial crisis when people would panic and rush to buy bitcoins

This makes bitcoins worth less how exactly?

You know, Bitcoin.  The sound money store of value that eliminates third-party risks?
1.  Loses three quarters of its value.
2.  The part that's left gets pwnt by third party Sad

1. 1 BTC still worth 1 BTC.
2. Bitcoins transffered to an exchange are not yours.

1 usd is still worth 1 usd
...wow such knowledge

Do you know what happened to that guy that sold real bitcoins for goxcoins towards the end?

from what I heard, the operator of the exchange ("Bitcoinbuilder" I think)traded all or most of his profits for gox coins and got wiped out when Gox took the big dirt nap.

That was the dumbest business idea ever! I know hindsight is 20/20, but we could all smell the stench of death by then.

It would have been brilliant if he had taken his profits in real BTC and also traded away his own stash of goxcoins. He helped a lot of people cut their losses.

When the kraken distributes what is left, does he still get it though ? Wasnt he buying them on 10% of the real price towards the end ?

Definately will be taking some more loans if bitstamp don't open up soon

Seriously,
This is not trolling , no bullbearwhale crap talk...

You need help.
If you're seriously thinking about getting MORE loans you're right now worse that a bet addict.
And I know what I'm talking about.

Go on..

A guy taking more loans .. so he is already in debt
He needs money and he only has a loan as a solution  , it means he has no money outside his bitcoins and bitstampmoney

And yet he wants to take it and invest it (aka smartsuit gambling)

And you don't see a problem with it

Kinda reminds me of that guy that bet "double or nothing" on his stash of ~50 BTC with a single dice roll.  Btw, he lost.
