If there is any proven strategy in BTC trading (besides HODLing), it's "buy the dip".

100% success, every single time - always goes higher.

Naturally dips become smaller Tongue

Never really works for me....I have a 'knack" for buying just before the dump Sad

On the other hand, bears on here may have MORE success on the futures markets their playing their 'it is gonna dip' games....might be a more level playing field

So with cboe futures on Sunday, I'm thinking coiled spring ready to blow. Not sure of direction, though I'm betting on up... Either way it's going to be insane.

Agree or no?

It could be buy the rumor, sell the news... but in the longer term it is certainly bullish... because there is almost no way that these traditional financial fucks have prepared themselves enough BTC to really engage with this new instrument.

But don't you think it's the traditional financial fucks as you call them -- are the ones that largely have driven the price from 8k to 16k, in an effort to have a supply on side to hedge against the Big Short that will come?

Don't you think their plan was to accumulate as much as they could before futures go live?

If it was a coiled spring ready to burst upwards, wouldn't they be sitting on their cash right now and our price would be $8,500?

I hate to say it but I'm betting on downward pressure first.  Maybe not right away but I think it hits $12k before it hits $20k

The short may fail. And succeed only in driving the price further up.

I don't believe this is exponential part of the S curve, I've heard that in 2013 and 2014. We are well before exponential growth. I think the only reason we haven't popped is the futures.
i seriously doubt if alts would be going nuts if that was the case.

Id argue the opposite, if bitcoin is overvalued why would you buy btc? wouldn't you buy something not (as) overvalued?

Nothing to do with overvaluation - people want to avoid the regulation of futures. Futures is restricting btc growth from now on

Setting an artificial benchmark for valuation. On the plus side it might prevent outright collapse as well.

I have been watching these patterns for years now, too.  and for the first two years, during 2014 and 2015, there was a tendency to break down after sideways; however, the past two years (2016 and 2017), there has been a tendency to break up, after sideways.

So you seem to be suggesting that we are reverting to the 2014-2015 pattern?  Seems way too early to call that kind of reversion, no?

Need to keep an eye on the alts if they’re pumping then the stall is for that reason. As stated above The scam coins will stop being pumped and the profits will go back to btc.

no because there was no real break out yet. real break out after 20k straight to 50k.

Exponential behaviour. In the analysis thread there was a a chart that showed the price going from 35k to 70k in a matter of days.

Well from the analysis thread it was claimed that due to exponential behaviour you would see 35k to 70k within a few days. So yes 50k in March is feasible.

Roach:  shouldn’t you be off 100:1 shorting on Bitmex?

Shorting in craptocurrency is mostly pointless because the following fraud:

People like the Winklevoss have 200,000 coins they bought for next to nothing they can send to Coinbase and use as margin collateral to 10-50x the price overnight (the same thing that was done to create the artificially high Ethereum price on Poloniex).

Do you really think it's a good idea for people to be able to rig markets by putting up collateral that not only has no real value due to not being a real commodity, but it's a completely imaginary asset that doesn't exist in the first place?  That's an even bigger scam than the fraudulent Wall Street markets that existed before it.  And it's not just bitcoin, they can create an infinite amount of coins and do this over and over.  How is that not a scam? lol.  These markets are all just fraud bubbles.

Therefore shouldn’t you be buying bitcoin Huh

If the dollar experiences hyperinflation, $1 trillion per BTC would be no problem at all. $1 trillion dollar loaves of bread would be no problem at all either.

We’ve had 140% increase in one month alone.

30k to 60k in a few days would be in keeping with that.

I elaborated further on how this market works so you can see how big of a fraud it is.  The leverage market exists as nothing more than a tool to add liquidity for the con artist whales so they can try and cash out on the general public:

Shorting in craptocurrency is mostly pointless because the following.  This is why all shorters in the history of bitcoin are squeezed.  You have a bunch of rich con artists that were already rich before bitcoin was created who bought up 200,000 coins for next to nothing.  These coins are toxic assets that they can't actually sell at market rate without crashing the market.  Anyone who shorts just adds liquidity to the market and allows them to cash out by squeezing the short by using their horde of toxic asset coins as margin collateral:

How is the holder of the bitcoin losing out here? If every shorter is squeezed.

TERA, why do you get so triggered when people talk trash about you & your positions? I mean we are in the irrational exuberance phase of an exponential run-up of the biggest bull market in history - what do you expect? People are going to get emotional about claims of crashes and corrections. They will think you a traitor. Why waste your time? Especially if you're going to be upset about it (as it seems to me from your posts)

For what it's worth I agree with your assessment: there will be a big correction eventually. But when? I have no idea. I tried shorting a bit around 10K but look how that worked out. I think I'll stick to mostly hodling.

For this to ‘end’ it requires central banks worldwide to address their issues.

Have you ever noticed bitcoin con artists always try to portray bitcoin as gold in visualization to pretend it has value?  Sorry, real gold and silver are far superior in fundamentals.

I will take your physical gold and your silver and melt it down into nothing

The sad part is that Wall Street is (temporarily) driving this bull now.
What appears to be happening is that the futures market is being used by the Wall Street players as a forecaster of prices and the bulk of other bitcoin traders are following suit.  Sad but true, as predicted the legendary Bitcoiners are loosing control of this market.

Futures have accounted for less than 1% of BTC's actual volume, plus it's not BTC volume.

It goes to show how weak minded many are. They're looking for authority to defer to when all of the power remains in their hands.

The problem is he warned us that the bubble was over if we tested 10k from 20k rather than 17k, which is what is looking like is going to happen here.

‘But the price can simply stupidly drown the bubble further. And in that case, I strongly doubt that we will see something more than 20-30k any more. Because 10k is not tested, it means that we will fall on it no matter where. And if with 30 we fall to 10, then the bubble caput. And if from 17 to 10, it seems like no. ‘

The rabbit from BTC's hat is coming (it's the lightning network). Meanwhile BCH has done exactly nothing to that effect. And no, just increasing the block size limit is not solution, just a patch in the gaping hole.

BCH is so boring technologically.

Indeed, it is no longer exciting technologically as it is just the peer-to-peer electronic cash system described in the Satoshi white paper.

The better question is, how much longer are the Peter R and Maxwell camp both going to pretend it's actually possible to create a decentralized digital currency in the first place when it's not?  You are doing a disservice to the world by telling them a centralized govt tracking system is somehow going to make their life better when they could be buying physical silver or gold instead.

One day you will realise that we are all on the same side and our enemies are the Jewish run banking cartels.

At least he puts his neck on the line to a certain extent.

Ok I have to admit my posts have been super bearish and I'm going to change my ways. So here's how it's going to go. Look, this is going up. It's going straight up. Nobody is ever going to sell again. There will never be another dip, or another retracement, or another crash. A miner might need to sell like 1 satoshi, that's it. We're going to see an increase at a steady rate of, say, 5% per day. A new ATH will appear at least once per week. We will reach $1,000,000 in no time, and then it'll keep going. There will be no limit because all of us will be hoarding everything except 1 coin. The whole world will have to share the single coin in circulation, which comprises all of the world's GDP and currency derivatives, and they will be fighting over satoshis. To the moon. Wow.

All I’m asking you to admit is you purposefully ignored fridays events to justify a downtrend.

I dont put much stock in events. I just read charts. There are many negative events during an uptrend or positive events during a downtrend and they fail to break the underlying trend. Only when the trend is already ready to be reversed and the whales were already there waiting for an excuse to dump or buy will it reverse. Otherwise youll see only a pinbar that goes past the trend but quickly and strongly reverses.

Lets take silk road for example. Terrible news as any. But it was clear on the very first day that it wasnt breaking the uptrend. It didnt turn the daily chart into a mess.

The millions of johns and joes getting on a train dont have a clue what any of these events mean. We simply just started running out of johns and joes.

If it was just one Fluke event on Friday you'd see more volume, a stronger recovery, and a better daily chart.

It wasn’t a fluke it was a concerted attempt to test the foundations of the market and the market held very firm and hasn’t been anywhere near that point since.

It doesn't look like it held firm to me. The volume was lower than the past 3 major drops (its supposed to increase) and the recovery over the next 3 days was rather weak compared to previous. Just look at a daily chart to see what I mean.

I wasn't even awake during that time. Am I obligated to call every bottom? That's a lack of a call, not a wrong call.

You subsequently painted it as some kind of technical error to be ignored and the fact that the market recovered from that was deemed by you to be irrelevant as it was headed down anyway.

Not even likely. Ripple is plain simple centralized POS scam, has nothing to do with BTC. It doesn't share the technology, doesn't share the philosophy, it shouldn't even be called the same name "cryptocurrency" as Bitcoin. On the other hand, BCash is real evil attack on Bitcoin.

So it looks like crypto is dead then, the market seems to be deciding that a non crypto, centralised , distributed ledger is preferable to crypto currency or even smart contracts.

What I want to know is where are all the bankers declaring that ripple is a bubble and will crash and burn?

Good point

Bankers don’t know what Ripple is. None of them use it.

so the Bankster coin talk is simply FUD from BTC shills?

If nothing else, this whole alt coin pump is nailing shut the lid on the Bcash coffin.

Good. At least xrp is shameless.

If jihan wu and roger ver go down because of xrp I’m delighted

Im expecting this bull run on XRP will not end before it hits $5
I could see nearly double that -  the only positive is that it appears that btrash is taking more of a hit than btc

Look at decred as a random example of what is possible

If we go back up the 500 again I’d say that’s evidence of secure territory

Can Syria do the same in April?
