I still don't get why people do not see the significance of a hedge fund opening this Friday. That might change everything quickly.
I would be panic buying based on that news alone. Granted, I am "all in" so I have nothing more cash to throw in at this point.

Off the top of my head, I remember at least 3-4 non-ETF funds dedicated solely to Bitcoin. Why would this one be so special?

Accordingly, we have NOT been hearing any real bad news in regard to bitcoin.... much of the news is either good or neutral and with a few negative pieces here and there ... yet any negative news, to the extent it comes up, is largely outweighed by good and neutral news.
In other words, seems like stupid-ass trolling statements to be realistically attempting to assert that we are returning to anywhere below $360 without some kind of meaningful analysis and explanation... .. otherwise making bare assertions of such seems either trollish or fantasy landia-sh.

Yes people may sell some coins for holiday purchases, but that will probably only have a small impact. I've heard of a few people who will actually be using their holiday cash that they receive to finally buy some coins (think 16-25yo population).
Be interesting! Might give a good reason to pump after the holidays.

Liquidity has become terrible on OKcoin futures since about a week ago. Formerly there were always around at least 1-200
BTC within a 3$ range. Now you have to place your orders 8$ above or below current future spot price to catch the good ones . Sell@ 419 buy @ 407$ within 10 minutes even if the rest of the market only moves 4-5$.
Margin calls all over the place. If you´re into straight hardcore gambling OKcoin futures is now the place to be, serious tradingnot so much.

Why are there people so damn desperate to keep the price below 400? What are they afraid of? What do they want?
Most people purchase Bitcoins in the speculative hope they can later profit by selling them at a higher price to other market participants. As it's mathematically impossible for this to continue ad infinitum it's foolish to think you can continue to make money at the expense of other market participants (of which you yourselves are among) beyond the peak of adoption.
Once adoption rates have peaked, which they more than likely did last year, there's little left but a massive downside caused by an imbalance of those wishing to cash out vs new money coming in from those wishing to speculate on further price rises. As the imbalance becomes more apparent new adopters are likely to become fewer and fewer thus escalating the downside.
As more people start to realize risk/reward is a bad bet and that the coins are gradually becoming worth less vs USD, a cash grab situation is likely to arise in which people will become aware coins are actually only backed by buy orders amounting to about 0.01% of the arbitrary market capitalization. This situation could be immensely profitable for those buying into the next round of folly.
All those who have become rich from Bitcoin have simply done so at the expense of later market participants, many of whom are likely to realize large losses on the flip side at some point. Hence why it's reasonably comparable to a giant ponzi scheme.
Bitch pleaseeeeeee go ask 10 people in the street wtf a Bitcoin is and they will give you a blank look or comment on SR.

I wouldn't buy GBTC at 1750 per coin, but I could do 380 and 420 like some have. By the time I would cash out some of my 401k and get taxed and penalized I would end up spending more than that per BTC, so to be able to roll a bunch of my 401k into bitcoin is well worth the added cost of each share. I am planning on buying GBTC shares with 10% of my incoming 401k contributions once the ask side is built up. For every $1 I put into my 401k my company contributes $2, so I am very excited about this.
Wouldn't you be far better off making a loan to yourself from your 401k avoiding the tax/penalties and then buying Bitcoin with that for 1/2 price?
Or is that too much work and your 401k doesn't mean that much to you at this point in your life because the majority of it comes from your company & you don't need it yet?
This is the first time in my +2 years of fucking around with Bitcoin that I would not recommend it to a friend... something feels fishy.

I think Cryptsy or even Poloniex has more volume than GBTC and the Stockholm. Giving away free bitcoin mining toasters is hardly impressive as well.
It's been just big disappointment after big disappointment.
I also think that the Chinese can control the mining industry and actually take losses there that are made up through market manipulation.
Bitcoin would be far better off PoS. Right now it's a huge bottomless hole of electricity cost and one nuclear miner or subsidized miner would knock everyone's socks off. Also, you have money going into BTC and then money flowing into machines the equivalent of a 1970's type writer (worthless now.) It would be much better if it was "all in one". It may encourage people to solo stake (pool staking seems sketchyish.) Bitcoin has far to many people invested/scamming with mining for it to change at this point I fear...
PoS would provide better growth for the network.

Gavincoin is going to help make Bitcoin harder for the average joe to get in and then in the long run it will bone the miners too.
Folks are just banking on Bitcoin getting so corrupt in world politics and economics that everyone just swallows the losses and uses it... Before the ATH is tested there is fair resistance at $2560 - $2600 to break through first. Once the ATH is taken out the Fibonacci extensions give some price targets:
If we add an earlier longer time frame chart of the Fibonacci extensions you can see how the 2.618 extension predicted the current ATH fairly accurately.
Taking both charts into consideration it would seem that if the current ATH is taken out a reasonable price target is between $4200 and $4400.
Pretty wild to look at.

He said o.k..... no problem. He wanted the extra $1k and he did not mind paying the high fee.

A day or so earlier the fee was around $20, and a couple days earlier the fee was around $12. So I am fucking well aware of the increases in the fees, which is frustrating for me, too, but you don't see me whining about it in the same nutjob way as you, because I am figuring out work arounds, and I also understand that there is a bit of a war going on right now and there are malicious players who are attacking the bitcoin network. I am not sure if either the attacks are going to go away or if there are ways that such spam attacks can be fixed, but I am willing to accept that the new state of bitcoin could possibly be a state in which spam attacks continue to be ongoing which causes higher fees and also causes slower transaction times and also takes away some of the lower cost use cases of bitcoin because the bcash nutjobs and who ever else is engaging in such ongoing and persistent spam attacks continue to believe it is in their interests to continue to attack bitcoin. So in the end, this spam attack dynamic becomes the new reality of bitcoin, at least for the time being and it could persist for a long time, so we have to figure out ways to deal with it and to prepare ourself for such new situation

So long as you take a constant reference not whatever chart suits a pov on the day its probably fair to use most major exchanges. Bitfinex is the one I see referred to as being the biggest exchange and so some say most accurate because it has the most volume. But we lack the benefit of centralised trading like the pricing on most instruments, its the nature of BTC that its split over many nations and time zones so I'm never sure exactly where the volume is most favouring. It would be alot easier if we could point to certain volume at a price. I dont really take the price seriously until its finishes the daily bar but as a trade that kinda sucks
I don't understand why so many members want to fight our long-referenced bitstamp... pretty much bitstamp became our king referenced exchange a bit prior to the GOX collapsed (in February 2014). Sure, there was a period of time in which Bitfinex was gaining support as a potential contender, but that possibility got sucked up the ass both in terms of its utilization of margin trading, but it's August 2016 "hack" provided a final death knell to it, in terms of perceived reliability.
Even though Coinbase and even Gemini do tend to have similar price performances as Bitstamp, freuquently Coinbase loses credibility in the space because of the weird behaviors of Brian Armstrong, and nobody has really developed much of a liking to the Winkelvi twins, here or in broader bitcoin circles.
Anyhow, so my point is to get over it peeps. Just use Bitstamp as a reference, and we are all on the same page and not confused about things, and it is not like Bitstamp is not a respected exchange in terms of serving as a real decent bellweather, even though it has consistently had smaller trade volume than some of the other exchanges - but it has not really had as many accusations of faking volume, either.
Of course, if there is something special going on on some other exchange or you want to make some kind of point about disparities in BTC prices, arbitrage opportunities or some other point that is possibly relevant to exchange price differences (or happenings), then that is a separate deal that you should easily be able to accomplish through either pointing it out or through description.

I'm praying the VC's are giving up on the dream of Bitcoin being money they way they see it (SEC filings and things of that nature). Sell off their massive stakes for-profit and let the little turds start buying again.

But that only works if you have toilet paper on hand. If you're fresh out and you call around and find the nearest tissue paper is at a store hundreds or thousands of miles away, you can simply drive to a closer ATM and get several sheets to wipe. Here in the US, that may be 20 bucks per wipe, but you do what you got to do.

It takes up the same exact room as a normal toilet seat. Plus it is slam proof, heated, and has a light in the pot.
The sprayer(s) go in and out of the lid. The remote controls the spray temp, pressure, movement, seat temp, fan temp/speed, carbon filter fan in the shitter and a "cleaning" button for the sprayers.
