On a serious note..are people actually hedging in to LTC enough so that it has raised it 3-4 dollars over the past weekend of consolidation in btc.
I'm really confused about the LTC price hike. On Bitfinex it's 15$+ - I suppose they try to get the LC/BTC rate up to convert their LTCs to BTCs...
LTC price always follows BTC price , of course there are delays and it's not the same % but it will always go after BTC.

You have to have bigger investors with bigger funds than you had in April to move this market. Especially right now on a weekend. I mean you could put in a $2 million buy and not guarantee anything more than a temporary high. It would take a $5 million buy to move gox up $60.

Stompix: Bitcoin going forward is about mainstream adoption. Some cunt running an exchange like this and crashing the whole market for personal profit is simply going to keep new faces firmly out of bitcoin. Why bother dipping one's toe into bitcoin when the price fluctuates so wildly? Congrats to those with orders set at 100$ - and those few people who sold out to buy again lower. But it all comes at the expense long term of success for the currency.
Things like this did happen in the past.
Mtgox managed to crash it even better a long time ago.

Journalists are bad. They don't understand technical problems and don't know when to STFU about same.
There are two things going on:
1) Due to an old and well known potential problem in
one possible implementation of a Bitcoin wallet, some people are able to create 'fake' transactions that will not ever be processed but might fool someone into thinking a transaction has taken place if their wallet is crap and they don't wait for confirmations. Mt. Gox had not kept their wallet up to date and was particularly vulnerable to this problem due to the way they tracked transactions, which incidentally was the wrong way. Some other exchanges have also identified that their wallets needed updating and are doing so/have done so. Kraken, for example, didn't need to update their wallet because they were treating transaction ID's appropriately all along as per the above-mentioned known problem. 2) The Internets are being squeezed today by DDoS troublemakers - as are some of the exchanges.

Do you own Bitcoin? (just outta interest)
I owned bitcoins till the start of December. After it got clear that there is no future in China, I sold. I bought back in about two weeks ago, partially because I was intoxicated and bored behind the computer. Luckly sold couple of hours later with 803$.
Right now, I don't see myself buying back anytime soon. When I'll buy back in, then It will probably be buying some altcoin, not bitcoin.
Right now the only thing that keeps the bitcoin price from an ugly collapse are the thousands of miners who have invested thousands of dollars in their ASIC equipment. They are the ones who are holding and keeping the supply tight, because selling with this price means no ROI. But they can only hold the price for so long, because the electric bills are piling and their wives or girlfriends are yelling at them on why aren't the noisy machines producing any money like promised.
My faith in bitcoin is in a downtrend while my faith in cryptos and privatized monetary systems in general keeps steady.
Ignoring the "I trade like a boss" I've bought low sold high thingy , the way you talk about miners holding the price and getting yelled at by their wife&girlfriends , the way you said the price should have been controlled , I really don't see you as a person who has a clue about bitcoin , and not as a bitcoin owner at all.

For very obvious reasons, gox price is *justifiedly* decoupled from stamp price.
If however the situation on gox continues, I don't think stamp will entirely stay unaffected. Not for practical reasons so much as for psychological reasons: gox price is still quoted in the world, and at some point, the nervousness will translate into selling pressure on stamp as well. Not enough to go sub 500 maybe, but enough to bring the two exchanges a bit more in line.
So, short term: if Gox enables BTC withdrawals, Stamp will go down because arbitrage. If Gox doesn't enable withdrawals, Stamp will go down because Gox dying will bring everyone down.
It looks to me like we are out of short-term scenarios where Stamp price goes up?

With the hardware wallets like Trezor, I would just ask. What happens when my Trezor dies down the road and the company that creates them no longer exists? Is there a way to recover my bitcoins from the seed in such a case?
If it dies in a ditch by the road and you're lucky it might bloom into a beautifull bitcoin tree from the seeds in it.

I agree. This tether issue proves most users are still chained to the old system. They dont see bitcoin as a possible substitute for fiat currency in the future, but only as a way for quick profits.

It's not a matter of war or not war. War is a constant. It's a matter of motives, the politics that goes on along with it and competence.
The war in Syria is just a front. Russia is expanding their cheap LNG output via Gazprom to countries like China and Iran. Key pipelines run through parts of Syria. The U.S. doesn't like this expansion, as it directly competes with sales of LNG from the U.S., Qatar and Australia. The U.S. has levied sanctions against Russia in an attempt to thwart LNG construction contracts and slow down their expansion. Needless to say, Russia is getting more and more irritated with U.S. foreign policy.
If you're at the other end of some pipelines the story might be a bit different.
Russia doesn't like pipelines from Qatar reaching eastern Europe and loosing its monopoly and its main trump card in negotiation with the EU. How is this for a theory???
But with a 23% increase 7d, I'm in such a good mood that all the mentioned above can stuck a damn pipe from where their gas is coming out

Even if what you are saying is technically accurate to say that the very extreme of the low was $6,510.. and the current price is bounding up to $8,240, you are only at 21% at best, but I suppose if you look across all markets, you can likely stretch the percentages a couple more percent, but still even if I agree with your bullishness sentiment, I find it better to be a bit more conservative with these kinds of discussions, and 19% is about the maximum of reasonable, currently.... that would be from $6610 to $8180 ---- ish...
But I hear what you are saying, too... .. a week ago there was a lot of doom and gloom and sentiment was that the price was going down, and currently the sentiment seems to be up and the price pressure seems to be up..
I am not really going to rest until getting above $9k, and I will feel better to go above $10k.. just to feel better about the bottom, perhaps being "in", and that we are not being faked out too much by the manipulators, who are always present in BTClandia... .. at a certain point, the price goes up and the manipulators lose control over the UP situation, but from my non-whale vantage point, I don't think that we are quite to the loss of control situation, yet.

I tried to research how much money was actually invested in crypto and few sources said that it's about 10% of indicated market cap. Yesterday Mt.Gox's Kobayashi presumably sold BTC equivalent of ~$7,000,000 and market cap was decreased for ~$70,000,000, is there any relation or it's just a coincidence?
If $7 000 000 worth of bitcoin was sold, that means another $7 000 000 was invested in bitcoin.
The MtGox coins which moved have been consolidated into a single address via two transactions from the original addresses where they've sat since 2014, this is where they are now :
