Double 50 millions in a few days is ok. No need to be greedy.

You can buy stuff and still be a bull.

You can even be a bear and buy bitcoin now  Grin

Each transaction has a buyer and a seller. Can you tell whether the buyer and/or the seller is always the same?

My guess is that the ping-pong robot posts an offer to sell and immediately buys into it, or vice-versa. These transactions add to ~100 BTC per hour, and a large fraction of MtGox's volume.

A large fraction of all exchange volumes are fake trades -> the big deals are done without exchanges.
The exchange rate was and is heavily manipulated by a few individuals including the exchange operators.

Best example -> GOX crash failsafe: It's just rollbacks all trades for a specific time intervall. Happend every time someone tried to really push the price down.
There is a large amount of fake support to keep the price going up -> more profit for some power holders

Don't believe that bitcoin is played fair and honest. Some will wake up sooner or later from this dream of great wealth without doing anything.

A lot of people still waiting for cheaper bitcoins, according to a whole bunch of folks here, the move beyond 500-600$ is a "trap" "manipulation" "low volume" "see you in a week, 400$ coming" etc etc

It is very easy to believe that the price will go down to $400 if your portfolio depends on the price going down to $400.

Yep. It's called wishful thinking, common to bears.

Same with people that bought over 1200$. Same wishful thinking, just the opposite direction  Wink
Actually it's a good time to move a part of your btc portfolio to litecoin. It's allways going down, when btc is going up -> cheaper litecoins! Just wait till btc price consolidates for a few days -> ltc rate goes up -> 30% more btc (not only in value, but in coins!)

Just that you know: I'm 90% bitcoin, but I expect that we crash again before a new ATH. Will sell around 1050-1175$ (not all of course).

I sold at 550 expecting to buy at 350...i had to buy at 735 USD...I know i should be happy, but i feel like stupid panic selling at 550...i found out that everybody has some certain selling price...i bought at 90USD/1 BTC so of course i was easy hodling when the price went from 1200 to 800...but then was 700, 600, 580, 560, 550, bum..panic sold...i think many guys here are really calm holding bulls because they bought under 10 USD...so it is little bit more easy to hodl i think...But i learned now this about bitcoin the hard way and true is, i am not selling even when it would start falling to...so to all bears, you should buy right now and just shut the fuck up already, we are heading to 10,000 with or without you Cool

The price went 2 times from 1200 to 800...
It was really stupid not to sell at least 50% @ second top

Either you sell there or NEVER! But why @ 550? Just don't trade if you panic sell or buy. It's most of the time completly wrong.
Anticyclic buying and selling is the key to suceed. Or the easy way -> buy and hold (and sell @ ath, never at the bottom after a ath)

What makes Bitcoin attractive is that nobody can create new units arbitrarily and spend them, diluting everybody else's purchasing power.

Inflation is so destructive because of what it does to economic incentives - why work to create useful products and services to earn currency if someone else can just spend newly-printed units and bid up the price of everything you want to buy?

This effect is present in Bitcoin too, but fortunately it's something that diminishes over time via a known schedule.

The imaginary economic growth thanks to controlled inflation is what brought us to the information age. Using a deflationary monetary unit worldwide will just bring humanity back to neo-feudalism with the bitcoin whales being even crueler than the current elite who are at least kept in check by politicians. I sincerely doubt that bitcoin or deflationary cryptocurrencies will replace fiat altogether, it will just remain a complementary niche market.

Wrong forum pal.

There is no difference. It doesn't matter whether a trader's organism is based on carbon or silicon. He/it is still a trader and his/its liquidity is liquidity and his/its trading volume is trading volume.

It's trading volume, but you can't extract any usefull informations about the market.
If the volume goes up because of 0% fee, this is no bullish/bearish sign.

These bots and 0% exchanges don't help to see any market trends. You can't see if there are more people buying into bitcoin or leaving the market, because the biggest volume is from bots.

Or that the Google trends for dogecoin is ridiculously high for its age

Is this some kind of viral effect that is going to be crazyness all around?

Dogecoin is used and has a fair price.
Bitcoin is way overspeculated. It's nothing for the average user.

Bitcoin transactions are a joke compared to the price increase. Few trades were made, but the price still kept going up without any real world utility (Bitpay is ZERO utility).
Dogecoin is that what bitcoin should be. A cryptocurrency that is USED and not only hoarded or speculated.

And still I hold way more bitcoins (in value) than the few million dogecoins.

All the other exchanges just barely cracked through the downward trend line. Gox went significantly above it. The other exchanges would have continued on the downward trend if not for Gox.
It is my belief that if the Chinese exchanges had been taken offline a month ago Gox, Stamp and BTC-e would be significantly higher than where we are today. So what?

Above your buy in price? Doubt that  Grin

The result of non regulation i guess. I wouldn't advise any of my friends anymore to invest in this clusterfuck.
The stuff that's being pulled here makes the real world big bankers and traders look like honest, nice people.

Inside-Trading destroys every market. Bitcoin needs regulation. A lot of it!
Otherwise we will continue with a handful exchanges manipulation the price like hell.

Every exchange needs an external audit who observers all trades.

Because the price is too damn high.
We trade IOUs on all exchanges, not real BTC.
You can easily fake trades and manipulate the price as exchange operator. GOX probably did that too (or they were too stupid for that).

Lot's of people don't pull the btc/money from exchanges, so the whole fake system works as long as there is a bank run.
In case of a bank run, the same shit like GOX happens again -> delayed withdrawals, hope for more fiat and coins inflow

Localbitcoins and other direct selling marketplaces are way better, but worse for speculating.

Can you please let me know what was so good and is so good in watching bitcoin price going down?

I don't care too much about the current drop but there are a few people who really amaze me with their joy ...

Because cheap coins?
It was so easy to sell after the dead cat bounce to over 600$. Nobody expected a rally (except people with a buy in price over 100$).
I'll start buying more after we hit 400$. Now I buy in 20$ steps. Feels good to get bitcoin with a 150$ discount.

This correction (started 2013) is not over yet.

Could take 3-6 months more. Tards with too high buy in prices can either sit it out or sell partly with a risk of short rebounce (and panic rebuying).

Bitcoin needs fiat as long as it is not properly distributed, otherwise nobody can buy bitcoin (or do you accept apples for bitcoin?).

Good job locking your price in at 213, buddy!

The most important thing I learned about trading (stocks, gold, crypto, ..) is profit locking.
A virtual profit is worth nothing.

I love bears. We just had a massive calamitous decline with a huge volume reversal, after a never ending 13 month bear market. When the market finally turns up they predict doom. As i said yesterday we will see who are just trolls/useful idiots to the whales controlling the market and who actually follow the trend.

No offense, but you are a troll. You bought lots of bitcoins above 500$ (if your posts are correctly, but I think you were full of shit and had no money), and are still in the red by a lot.
Bears selling between 1000 and 800$ and rebought @ below 200$ have tripple or quadrupled their BTC holdings.

Who is now the bagholder/idiot/bulltard?

I believe in bitcoin investment (not in bitcoin itself) as a tool to gain lovely fiat. Just do not be afraid to trade or you get fucked up by BUY and HOLD or SODL low and buy high.

I'm new here but not particularly new to BTC.
I've been investing for just under 6 months & have so far amassed 8.75 BTC, I bought most of my coins when the price was around £350 (GBP) , unsure what that is in dollars but I'm at a pretty bad loss currently.
We're down to around £247 (GBP) as we speak, do I continue to invest in BTC or just hold what I've got?

I hope you did lock your profits some time. Otherwise: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

This spike was caused by LTC cash-out.

Just have a look at all BTC/LTC charts.
Has nothing to do with BTC demand bought by FIAT.

The cycle was very easy:
Accumulate LTC with FIAT or BTC.
Pump LTC like shit (Ponzi in China)
Trade LTC for BTC -> increase BTC price
Sell BTC for FIAT -> drop to levels before the LTC pump

Rinse and repeat. Love that unregulated market. So many people to lose money. Thanks.

bitcoin is going to be in a bear market for a while.

Stability maybe will be somewhere around 8 or 900.

Most likely, as the bitcoin civil war continues BTC will continue to lose marketshare and these other coins will keep gaining.
