To split your coins
On BTC chain you have some coins in address (A), you send your coins to another address you own (B), and include a further special recipient address 3Bit1xA4apyzgmFNT2k8Pvnd6zb6TnwcTi to whom you send a few satoshis. (You have to use send to many option in your wallet, to send them at once).
Any transactions that contain this special address will be ignored by 2X miners.
Once this is successful, you will have your BTC in an address(B) you own.
IIUC, I would not employ this mechanism for my coins. The part that I have underlined seems to require full faith in what the miners will do. You have no a priori method of knowing whether that address will 'be ignored' by any miner.

Coinbase managed to blacklist certain bitcoins years ago, demonstrating the lack of fungibility in bitcoin. This is not true. People will use them for the novelty of owning bitcoin, or for buying very small amounts. Or because they don't have a better way to do it.
But I agree with the spirit of your post. Until these things begin to become competitive they will stay in the general realm of being a novelty.
TBH I'm not sure what these Bitcoin ATM operators are thinking with having those premiums so high. I assume it's an attempt to recoup the cost of the ATM itself maybe? But they would do well to get those buy premiums down to at least 2-3%, otherwise people will just jump online to do it.

The first essay was shared pretty widely at the time and is overblown - nobody who counts (geddit?) missed the implications of triple-entry at the time.
But goodness, the second one is good stuff. On the basics, it is an excellent primer. There's some howlers (calling all the early unmoved coins Satoshi's, stating there's 22m coins max) and he's not so good on the future implications of bitcoin, some macro details, history of econ. Still a lot better than most. It really deserves a proper review.

I know for a fact that 'uncorrelated financial asset' was in play before it shows up on the chart.
In 2008 things were very close to locking up, and one of the cause/effect feedback loops were that 'letters of credit' upon which much of the global commerce system operates were about to fail. Should that happen today, Bitcoin (or more generally crypto-currency) could rapidly take over in that role. I would guess that values could go insane under such a scenario. Of course crypto would be attacked mercilessly by some, but some of the would-be attackers would also be heavy users. Not clear how things would play out, but it could be a spectacular fireworks show.
Intriguing commentary tyvm. There's something here for me also about generational knowledge.
