Pump and dump schemes in small markets easy to manipulate..

Seems like it was possible with ltc too, just took some time.

I sold at 550 expecting to buy at 350...i had to buy at 735 USD...I know i should be happy, but i feel like stupid panic selling at 550...i found out that everybody has some certain selling price...i bought at 90USD/1 BTC so of course i was easy hodling when the price went from 1200 to 800...but then was 700, 600, 580, 560, 550, bum..panic sold...i think many guys here are really calm holding bulls because they bought under 10 USD...so it is little bit more easy to hodl i think...But i learned now this about bitcoin the hard way and true is, i am not selling even when it would start falling to...so to all bears, you should buy right now and just shut the fuck up already, we are heading to 10,000 with or without you Cool

I bought in at 1000, but didnt sold at the big drop. Just have a little faith, actually i feel kinda stupid of not buying more at 500ish.
Fell for the bear stuff about price going to crash 1 more time, but cant complain for not selling though.

How will you guys feel about bitcoin when 99% of it is owned by 3 banks and they sparingly distribute it among whomever they deem worthy?

How will 3 banks acquire 99% unless people are stupid enough to sell?

It won't be stupid to sell when it becomes apparent the 1% are trying to acquire 99% of bitcoin.

lol. we'll just switch to litecoin. Let the 3 banks have fun with bitcoin and use it to prop up their balance sheets or whatever these people do.

EDIT: how did you leave my ignore list?

I PRAY for the bitcoin is adopted by big fellas. Even if they acquire the 99% of it, they will be OBLIGED to pay for services and the circulation will begin again. What's NOT gonna happen, is the extra-super-duper inflation we have now. Only 21bn there EVER will be. That's all. You can't keep them all. You need money to make the world go around...

LTC/PPC/(place whatever here) will be players too. Smaller stakes, but IN the game. That's because people need variety and solutions to their problems. Bitcoin might be gold, but there must be diamonds and silver too...

I guess this year will be the year where it all can happen. All kind of shops are going to accept it and the banks/goverments need to make a final statement towards bitcoin with all the adoption happening.

btc-e is not dropping. Stop spreading FUD.

I was just informing that it went from 825 to 810 in a few minutes, so far as i know thats a drop.
Luckily for everyone it turned out to be FUD. Even if your a bear you dont want this, as it destroyes bitcoins image.

Looks like a breakout attempt. If the ~360 BTC wall @845 on bitstamp gets eaten, we'll break out.

Lol did you edit that from 500BTC? What is a good site to see the walls these days?

Alot of resistence at stamp though, 1000 bts till 850
I just use the stamp orderbook, but theres probably a better site for it Tongue

think a bite of 150 - 300BTC will get it pulled quickly.

theres the bite.. will it be pulled or gobbled

Didnt got pulled, it is allmost down though.
But still alot of resistence a stamp, also a selling wall of 100 btc showed up op btc-e, which was down within 1 minute.

I think it will take a few days. 1000$ is hard to beat!

I think your right. atm it would take 3000 btc to break 1000. This could happen tomorrow, when usually the rally's starts. When we get close to 1000, we will probably break it right away i guess. Alot of confidence building up.

i think many guys here are really calm holding bulls because they bought under 10 USD...so it is little bit more easy to hodl i think...

It's irrelevant at what price you bought for deciding whether or not to hold an investment.

It depends on the person. I have more money than I have ever had in my life invested in Bitcoin. Had I earned that money through a regular job, there is no way I would consider putting it all into Bitcoin. But since it came so easy, it wouldn't hurt so much if I lost it all.

Probably how I would feel too. It's not rational however Smiley

It's not rational at all, but I feel the same way. I've been trying to ask myself if I had all my bitcoin-value in FIAT... would I buy as many bitcoins as I own now? Answer is usually: no, not even close, I wouldn't.

Then why am I not selling? Well, I actually am, but I can't bring myself to sell even close to the required amount. Why? Well, I guess I probably learned by pain through past experience that selling Bitcoin is not a good idea.

Selling precious coins when you're a bull is extremely hard. Harder than "not buying" even though you're bullish, I guess.

It is really really hard for me NOT to buy now. But I cant go against my instinct.

Buying more you mean?
I Always want to buy more but ive reached my personal invest limit (not that big). But everyday i want to buy more, and with times like these its really hard not to. I almost did it yesterday, shame that i didnt, but atleast i controlled myself Tongue

OK whoever asked me when I would admit I was wrong, this is it. The May patterning seems clearly broken. Looks like I've been badly burnt on the 40% part of the 60/40 position I left myself in. I give up with TA and bit coin - the exchange system is too decentralized now for that.

[trolling] join repietila investors club, I've heard that fancy wine and cigars are on the house, he promise you a price of $400/BTC, so you might be a winner and a millionaire the same as him....[/trolling]

no seriously, it all depends on your strategy, if you are a long term investor then it really doesn't matter at what price you will buy, Bitcoin has proven that constant growth over time, if you are a trader and want to catch a dip to make a stronger position then welcome to the gambling club Wink

Actually it does matter when you buy in. Lets say you have $7000 as budget, buying at $1000 each or 500$ makes a huge difference in the amount of bitcoin.
Ofcourse when you say i just buy 7 bitcoins, no matter whats the price then it doesnt matter that much. But i think most ppl look at the USD investment instead of amount of bitcoins.

Others explained to me how the negative commission for market makers worked seems all around interesting. I mean it is not impossible he's just putting on a front. All the while knowing its closing down...but I doubt it will and huobi is the volume holder so it really depends on how they get cracked down upon if a crack down appears.

Will china keep us busy the whole of January? Would've thought China wasnt that importing anymore, but i guess i was wrong.

Right. But Houbi did have higher volume on the breakout than on the consolidation. And its leading the markets. Stamp is literally following it lock, step and barrel - move for move. Gox not so much.

So if the leader confirms volume I wonder if that does not indicate a potential more significant bullish move?

This still worries me a bit. If china is still leading the markets, what will happen at the 31th?
I was hoping china was out of the picture by now, which was the case the last weeks i guess. At least Huobi wasnt leading.

You are playing safe, which is commendable, but if you are long-term, a big gamble. The news recently has been huge and Bitcoin is spreading throughout the world like wildfire. You are passing on the chance to ride it up because of a possibility to catch a dip caused by something that might not ever happen.

The whole China thing should be in the past.

It won't get banned any time soon over there but if it does Bitcoin has easily got room to grow ten times bigger in the US alone this year.

But we're not even talking about a ban - it's about more restrictions with money flow - and still people are running for the hills. If you panic with the sheep you are just wasting time and delaying the inevitable... and taking a real risk that you'll sell at the wrong moment and buy back more expensive.

True, with trading you always take risks. But as long as you make more good calls then bad ones you make a profit.
Key is to sell before the sheeps and buy back before the sheeps. Don't bother to sell/buy when the panic already started.

Also agree that China should be in the past, sadly it isnt. Look at today's events, all due to Huobi.

Just as the Chinese government has recently warned citizens of the dangers of bitcoin, I am warning citizens of bitcointalk of the dangers of bitcoins, to help as many people as possible.  Only Satoshi and maybe 2 or 3 other people will make any money from bitcoin.  Everyone else will lose money, and probably destroy their life, as the Chinese government has explained.

BTC China's rapid decline is obviously down to the payment processing thing but also the fees play a huge factor. Volume is inevitably going to explode with a zero fee exchange. It would be the same regardless of where it was located in the world.

Yea and everything moved to huobi because they still dont have fee's.
Its not hard to understand why there is so much volume, but the  unknown chinese factor and therefor manipulation is just way to high imo,

Why do you base your trendline on the biggest dump at the crash, when we only hit it 1 second?
Lets say the dump was a little bit less or more which was very easily possible, your trendline is way off.

BUY PRICE: $789.64
SELL PRICE: $822.12

Still waiting for my activation code via email and yes, I did check spam folder, lol.

the price is not wrong. yes, you pay a bit more for this service but it is fast, as in you can get the money in a few hours. not weeks or months.

this is so much better than gox or coinbase.

plus you can buy and immediately sell for profit.

I think you guys are missing the point.  It's listed backwards.  You can BUY at $822 currently, not sell.

Think of the nice quick and easy arb play if a buy price is less than a sell price...

Awesome, lets try  Grin

Many Bitcoin users will just replenish their BTC when making a purchase on these sites too, if they are still wanting to hold as much coins as possible.

Overstock might be surprised at how much new business they get when bitcoin goes up significantly. Buying stuff may be the best way to take profits from a tax avoidance standpoint. I'm planning a whole bunch of purchases myself.

That, plus anyone knows how much coinbase/bitpay charge merchants to process btc? If it's lower than 3%? credit cards charge merchants will embrace it with both hands as it bumps up their profit margins. Once wall st sees that there's $ to be made and wider adoption they won't sit on side lines.

And then the moon is there Cheesy

WeŽre probably about to get the 5th red daily candle on Stamp in a few hours, thatŽs bullish isnŽt it?
Aren't we still just working on the 4th red candle? At least according to wisdom

However even if goes 5 deep it just means the slowest slide to 800 we ever saw.

Maybe I misunderstood something, but do people really still believe there is going to be a China crash now?

There's still that possibility. As far the chances of that happening is the current game. In a catastrophic even China would close Huobi and confiscating all the BTC holding, that surely would crash the whole market. Personally i think chances of that ever happening are moderately low (and partially already priced in). Chances of Chinese cracking down on the very first day the new law goes into effect are slim to none. So 31st/1st should be a good day. This weekend shouldn't be bad either.

yes probably still some stable stuff till next weekend, after that things will happen and probably up.

Deposits at btcchina aren't adding anything new. Chinese already had the ability to deposit via Huobi. Most likely almost nobody deposits to btcchina because the liquidity (volume) is at huobi now.

Because Huobi is 0% fee's. When that changes BTC China still has its name and i can see things moving to there again.
There Always was the fear about Huobi shutting down and putting china out of the game. Now there is a backup.

looking at the past corrections of late 2013 and so on, we've become a lot less fear mongering during these uncertain times, not as many coins are being dumped at ludicrous speeds.

I really hope that the recent peak of bitcoin days destroyed is more or less a testament to the fact old coins are going to new strong hands, I mean I know I can't quantify the numbers of who bought for hodling, or day trading but the trend imo seems to be that the market is soaking up coins at the cheapest prices, and people aren't going to choo choo till we eat all the coins being brought in strictly to be sold.

Also every bear and there brother have waited for the dip and I am sure won't give up their short positions till a strong recovery wave begins, I still think that that could be as soon as valentines day. We've only made it easier for more people to join this revolution.

Nothing happened at the previous peak of bitcoindays destroyed. Could be some big fonds or wall street starting to buy in, or just a wallet change for a early adopter.

I agree.  I also think that people with the least amount of coins are the ones watching the charts the most.   They are also the first to be claiming the sky is falling, and how everyone needs to get out before it is too late.

I would think ppl who are day trading have some coins and watchin the charts alot too Tongue

JP Morgan
MtGox
Putin
China

NSA
Some 14 year old in Rio
Mini Putin (you know he has got one)
A bunch of c.......

I already made a thread on this, link: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=459887.0

The only useful answer so far:

A few possibilies:
1. Someone creating FUD to buy cheap coins (probably scammed mtgox first)
2. Banks/NSA try to damage bitcoin (but why would they start with mtgox related txs?)
3. A competitor like Ripple, Nxt or Ethereum
4. Mtgox trying to make it look like a general problem (but I highly doubt that)

You need a lot of well connected nodes to be faster than mgox, btc-e, bistamp, coinbase...

Wall street to buy cheap coins?

Probably not, more related to deflating of the bubble..

It clearly started the minute people reported that Stamp issue.
These sellers don't even read or think anymore. Just 1 word that sounds negative and they completely start to panic.
And after the panic turns out to be nothing there's no buying back. We're just lower than before and the idiots are waiting for the next sign to panic.

Imagine what happens if we go up for a little. All the idiots are panic buying.

Do you have any proof of sending 50k to mtgox? This is not speculation is throwing money off the window. You might win, but still it's stupid to do.

Just wondering, no offense intended, what makes you think you will be able to withdraw these newly bought btc, before others get their withdrawals?

And based on the accusations of MtGox running fractional reserve, do you believe you can withdraw those btc you buy?
I sold at ~$580, assuming I get to buy in at $130 thats 4.46x my investment. In other words: mtgox must have lost 75% > of their BTC for me to lose. Not a bad bet. I don't believe the accusations that they are running fractional reserve in the first place, so I'm obviously hoping that I will be able to withdraw all.

Depends on how they look at it.
Lets say they lost 50% of their btc and spend the remaining btc in order of withdraw request. Then you probably have nothing.

It's not only possible, this already happened. Have you even heard of a volume chart? Or a commutative delta study?
