And I guess many people are keeping a much closer eye on the charts and they are still significantly more nervous about the downward price movements after that manbearwall incident.

So, practically everything is set up for an exponentially accelerating freefall.

Meanwhile, the long term trend is still negative (just take a look at the daily chart).


To sum it up, it's practically just a matter of time to reach 0.01$ unless something dramatically changes. And it can happen much faster than we would assume it's possible.


Of course, anything can happy anytime, the trend can revers and we can see a new ATH by the end of this month. But it's not granted. Nothing is.

2) Invest as much as you possibly can knowing this.

2014 was a great year for Bitcoin. So much progress was made in acceptance and the political arena. Bitcoin is no longer ignored. 2015 will be even more exciting. Once more unto the breach, dear friends!

Let me explain what the difference is:
Money is sent via Western Union when cash is needed immediately.  This money is not sent for stuff like online purchases, otherwise the sender could simply make the purchase and have it shipped to a different address.

Sending Bitcoin is currently extremely cheap, because the miners are subsidised by 10% yearly inflation, AKA "block rewards" (not TX fees).  As block rewards diminish to zero over time, the miners will be forced to rely on TX fees.
Today, Bitcoin is paying 10% of its market cap to maintain the network--that's how many coins are mined in a year.  Once the block rewards approach zero, the transaction fees would have to represent ~10% of Bitcoin's market cap to maintain today's network security.  Because, as Satoshi has pointed out, the cost of mining should approach the price of coins mined.

Imagine that?  Burning 10% of world's wealth YEARLY being paid in TX fees?

If we learn the coins have been sold 50% more than the value of the exchanges, it WILL go up. BIG.

1) Tim Draper wants this coins. It's his way to acquire lot of coins without moving the market and beyond that, his plan of communication (if people learn Tim Draper bought all the coins for the second time, every one will remeber the name of his exchange and take him seriously)... How much costs a full campaign of communication for the same result ?

2) The others participants, at the first auction, didn't know what to expect, they tried to get a discount. Now they know that the battle will be hard to obtain the coins and if they really want them, they'll have to pay a serious price.

3) The price has declined during a whole year. During this time, bitcoin has been taken seriously by the banks/governements, infrastructure has been built. So the end of the decline may be soon. During the last bounce, we saw that everyone is ready to get in and has his mouse above the "buy" button. At each possible start of a new trend, everyone wants to buy. If big players enter during a rise, they'll have to pay minimum the double of the actual price. And they can't get in right now without moving the market. The interest of the big players is to enter now off exchange, no matter what price they pay.

Conclusion : Maybe the price will fall sort term, but the auction of the coins may be the initiating event of the next bubble

The bitfinex bot is simply accumulating to prepare for dumping once the markets goes bananas after the SR auction (expect +$450 then dump). It's a gamble though, he is assuming that all the coins will be sold (we won't ever know the price though), but most likely they will be and the market will react in a positive way.  Simple strategy. Most likely the markets will start going up before the auction is finished (anticipation).

bitcoin miners are sha256 exclusive units. They can't do anything else then sha256 hashes.

Is the dropping price a reflection of the fork issue, the supposed Satoshi email, all the ETH profits cashing out, or maybe a mixture of the three?

The beauty is that you don't need to trust him, just look at the code, if you like it switch to XT, if not do nothing. If the fork actually happens, it would have seem that more people liked his proposal the most.

If consensus can't be reached amongst devs, this is a perfect solution to let people decide.

price was between $200 and $300 for about a year until last november. price tripled in the last 10 months. some of the rise was maybe due to the anticipation of the halving, since it was known all along.

A real price would mean the number of user is stable enough so their is not more demand than supply. It is not the case.

So zooming out to 1d on the chart, from 5/24, bitcoin is just looking like your typical PnD bubble that we've seen so many times before.  A blow off top, followed by long legs down.

If you read all the comments in that reddit thread you will find this one by btcdrak. He says it's only a civil case, not a criminal case, and he posts a link to the original judgement. If it was a criminal case it would worry me, but a civil case is less serious for bitcoin in China.
