Guys, I'm on the forum exactly one year. And this is very cool, the feeling is like I just created an account yesterday. It was a good time, Bitcoin was 20k (I hope this is only the beginning). I received a lot of new information and the thread Wall Observer BTC / USD has become one of the most popular for me. I will celebrate this event this weekend.

Congratulations !!) How would you describe the past year?

It's not my first account, or second account, or third account.  And no, the others were not banned.  But that isn't what I was talking about anyway.

The words "startup analyst" are straight out of the CNBC kike-speak lexicon of financialization.  We have already experienced peak many things, from peak financialization, to peak Jewry, peak first world working age demographic, peak feminism, peak oil (really mislabeled thermodynamic collapse of oil), peak infinite growth fraud, etc.  So your title is like looking at a dinosaur or some type of grifter that doesn't know everyone is onto him yet.

Does this mean that your previous accounts have a negative trust? I do not condemn you for the promotion of hashish, why do you condemn me because of my profession?

To the contrary, $10k seems incredibly near. Especially knowing that Bitcoin is still in it's infancy.
It's easier to believe that we'll reach $10k mark, because BTC price has already reached this mark. Sooner or later the bears will go away from market (hope, speculators will go after them).

I mean, I'm all for having a shot in the dark based on criteria on paper and everything, but at some point that comes up against the cold, hard reality of someone nicking all your cash.
Totally agree with you, Cryptope is crushed, it does not deserve an assessment B !!

After all by stealing prosperity from tomorrow so we can spend it today we enslave ourselves and future generations.

1BTC is 1BTC!

Whatever $100 got you 12 months ago is exactly the same amount of BTC today.
Think in BTC terms & not $ terms buddy.

Plus we should always try & find positives in everything - We can increase our HODL stashes now. Now is a great time to accumulate ahead of the next massive bull run.

We’re all here for the same thing. Seriously though, don’t stress about the price. It’ll go up & we’ll see a new ATH, it’s what bitcoin does during each cycle. I admit I was worried when we fell so quickly from the ATH to 7k or 8k but it’s an opportunity now to buy cheap coins which we probably won’t get again.

You can buy whole bitcoin’s again now. When we reach the next ATH & then subsequently crash to, I dunno, 25k or 30k people won’t be able to afford to buy whole bitcoin’s.

So yeah, keep calm & buy bitcoin’s Smiley
It is necessary to hang on the wall above my monitor such a poster : "Keep calm & buy bitcoins ".

A few days ago, a friend of mine sent me a photo, he said: I think that even Mother Nature wants people to buy bitcoins.

What do you propose?
I’ve been doing it for a couple of weeks now whenever I put fiat into the bank.
It's good that you do this, but imagine how the world around us can change, if we always pay only in bills with inscriptions that encourage other people to buy BTC!
I have long wanted to buy myself such a thing so that each time not to write with my hand, but to put a seal.

Just imagine how insignificant, but still create an effect, if each of the WO participants will buy one for themselves and stamp on each bill of which he pays.

In my neck of the woods cash isn't commonly used. I'm all cards unless I have to use cash.
But you can put a stamp on a check in a restaurant! Especially if you have a huge bill, the waiter noticing your welfare and the stamp on the check / tip can not help but think!

The next bitcoin halvening is in ~472 days.

Currently 1800 new coins mined everyday.

That will be cut in half to 900 with an 1.8% inflation rate.

Why does this matter?

It marks the date when bitcoin becomes less inflationary than central banks annual rate target of below 2%.

https://twitter.com/AlecZiupsnys/status/1093568234647887876

The launch if the Bitcoin Network in 2009 was a global earthquake.

Now is time for the tsunami.

If the previous halvenings led to 100x increase of price without institutional investors, imagine what will happen if they come. One of the biggest ETF companies in USA stated recently that they expect at least 10bil investment in Bitcoin ETF per year. And this is only one company. At current prices that would be 2.8 mil bitcoins! When (not if!) bakkt is approved it will surely lead to an ETF approval may be this year. After all, bakkt is initiated by NYSE and the ETF is initiated by CBOE. It is not a coincidence that after the refiling of the CBOE ETF proposal, SEC created a new crypto division to study the ledger technology and to see that there are no gaps in it. According to some lawers this most probably means that they intend to give an approval based on a positive report about the distributed ledger technology. So, while the small fish dump their precious bitcoins in the daily trade, they will miss the shocking explosion in the price in the coming 2 years.  We shall wait and see.  Wink

Edit. There is a new tweet by Hester Peirce confirming the leaked interview by the Democrat SEC commisioner P. Jackson about a coming ETF approval.
https://twitter.com/HesterPeirce/status/1093604854709264384
Also lets recall a recent interview of J. Clayton:
https://bitcoinexchangeguide.com/jay-clayton-optimistic-about-blockchain-and-cryptocurrencies-emerging-investment-landscape/
...Jay Clayton seems very optimistic about the future of the cryptocurrency space. During a testimony that he gave to the United States Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Development, Mr. Clayton, the chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, said that blockchain and virtual currencies will facilitate capital formation.
During the hearing, he emphasized his optimism about the development of distributed ledger technology (DLT). According to what he said, blockchain will be providing new investment opportunities for traditional investors, including institutions.

What would you say about these pictures?

Even though 1 would be the easiest to see on a hat avatar, and I really don't know anything about the actual character, my personal preference, based on just the cool bad-ass leather jacket and sunglasses appeal of the underlying image is 3, 1, 2.... as I have reordered them below to disambiguate.

By the way, I don't really appreciate the split-personality feeling that I get from image 2... that is why I put that one last in my avatar image preference order.

BCH the best
BCH is best, we have Roger Ver who bought Bitcoin.com with the sole purpose of trying to trick new users into using our better coin. We also have Jihan Wu who has put backdoors into every antminer. Bitcoincash also has Craig Faketoshi Wright, the man who can't prove he's Satoshi and uses this fake title to try and intimidate others. Sure he has had some fake lawsuits using high amount public keys to try and have bolster claims he has tons of coins and power (unfortunately he didn't do the research and they we're gox public keys) but he's more of a run and gun figure the details out kind of guy. (See broken BSV)

Seriously though Bitcoincash is fucking stupid, a money and power grab that thankfully failed. These guys are just all fools, enjoy 1GB BSV blocks and empty bch blocks.

It increases it's block size on demand, and it does not let anything interfere.

Do you personally have one of those kinds of customizable coffee makers too?  or did you go to a coffee shop or find the image on the interwebs?  Mic has access to one of those machines, but no one has yet explained how they work in the real world including if the coffee shops just charge an extra fee for such service or they make those potentially customizable images for free  (like hats, but the hats are surely more understandably done through knowledge, creativity and playing around with photoshop features).
I really was very happy to have such coffee maker! But unfortunately I do not own it. Sad A photo was sent to me by a friend, he is now traveling around Europe.

Th world first needs to define who blockchain engineer really is before jumping into hiring them! Some companies literally call the pure coders as "Blockchain engineers" just because of their ability to write smart contracts. Those coders do not have a clue of cryptography.
I agree with you in general, but isn't it the job of security engineers understand to cryptography?

But BTC is the reason i drink! I bought @20K!

Do you believe in it?

If no, then just wait and once the price will cross 20k then get rid of them immediately .

Your money your choice, this is the beauty of Bitcoin.

I know that you are talking hypothetical here, Pamoldar, but selling just above $20k would not be a well-thought out plan.

Also, I doubt that fillippone is serious about buying at $20k and implying that he did not buy further after that.

If you believed enough to buy at $20k, and you have not bought since, and you held all the way down, then there is a time, now, to buy or continue to buy.  Bring down your average price per BTC and likely increase your selling options at lower prices.

For example, buying the same amount of dollar value of BTC at $4k as what was bought at $20k would cut your average price per BTC to the mid-point between $20k and $4k, which would be $12k.  Many variations on that, too, and nothing wrong with selling on the way up, as long as, from my approach to the matter, the portion that you are selling is sold for higher prices than bought.
I like the fact that you advise fillippone, but I don't think it's worth selling BTC for less than $25,000, especially if you can buy them for $10,000 for $6,000 and finally for $4,000.

Edit:I don't think there's any point in selling your BTC.

Ultimately, each of us has to figure out what is our plan in regards to BTC, and early on such plan would be to figure out your BTC to fiat ratios with also considering your other investments, cashflow, timeline, risk tolerance, view of bitcoin, etc.

Thereafter, accumulate to reach your goal in a timeline that is suitable then go on to a maintenance phase.

At some point, some incremental selling of BTC would likely be prudent for insurance purposes (which would be preferable after you have already reached a maintenance rather than accumulation phase.. but HODLers are free to differ in their thinking about this), and larger scale selling of BTC for either enjoying the asset that you have already accumulated in a passive income kind of way or engaging in selling the principle, too, especially since none of us is going to live forever, and I would question the personal prudence of passing on an asset (referring to after death), such as bitcoin, to someone (including relatives and spouses) who would likely value it less than you (especially, if they did not go through the struggles to accumulate it).  I am not saying that NO value should be reserved for passing, but it would seem too antithetical to fail and refuse to enjoy decent amounts of fruits from your labor.. even if it is only a small percentage, every year or so.

Anyhow, as a basic financial prudence rule, once you have established a decently high stash of bitcoin in which you feel comfortable living off of about 4% of it's value per year in a kind of passive income flow, that means selling some in order to realize the 4% per year (or easier calculations of about 1% per quarter).  Of course, that level of BTC accumulation in which you perceive that living off of 4% per year is enough for your to meet all your expenses plus maintaining emergency funds will vary for individuals, and likely that level of BTC accumulation necessity would become lower, if BTC prices were to go up in an exponential way, which is not guaranteed, but could happen in similar ways as it has done historically and theoretically has decent odds of happening some more in the coming years.

Everyone certainly decides for themselves the percentage of their BTC and other wealth in their possession. The psychological phase of maintenance is different for each person (HODLer), but I think there is an average value and at the moment it is about $2500-$3000. That doesn't mean that if BTC costs $1 or $100 tomorrow, no one will buy it. This means that none of the HODLers will sell their BTC for $2500-$3000 and store them further.

I don't think any of the HODLers will live on the street or (God forbid) starve instead of selling 0.002% of their BTC, or tolerate something like that.

And even if the price of BTC doesn't grow exponentially (which is very doubtful for me), BTC will still remain a reliable tool for saving!

Why #bitcoin will not drop under $2k:
1) Miners already capitulated (difficulty -25% Nov/Dec)
2) Too close to the Halving (14 months)
3) BTC never dropped below geometric mean ($2750)
4) BTC never dropped below 50% of stock-to-flow model ($5500)
5) RSI bottomed at (42) now rising

Sad.

The worst thing is that all those years enclosed in the embassy won't discount from any sentence. On the other side I am not so sure it will be easy to prosecute the charges against him and maybe, just maybe, this ends being good for him and is finally freed sometime soon.

Maybe, but not that easy. The charges on Ross were quite clear according to law, even if the sentence was extremely hard.

In the case of Assange, there's also the public eye over it... since years. Not so easy, not impossible either.

That being said, even if he is finally freed he will probably get into trouble again soon after. I chatted (IRC) with the guy a few times in the nineties, ages before the wikileaks thing, and he was already obsessed with the US government and being prosecuted (or on parole/already sentenced, can't remember) for hacking a bunch of .gov systems.

He is a rebel/fighter and he will probably always be. That's risky business... more so if you target powerful governments for your actions.
But the charges against Ross were fabricated.
I very much hope for public pressure and that Julian will not be convicted as Ross.

Genuine question -

If the value of one bitcoin became astronomically high one day & there was a state or island somewhere that was strictly bitcoin only as a monetary transfer of value would you emigrate to there?

It’s something I’ve long thought about & I most certainly would to be honest. It’d be great to live amongst like minded people.

I wouldn't hesitate to emigrate there!! Unfortunately, in the country I live in now, there is no freedom of speech. Cry Yesterday there was an assassination attempt on a presidential candidate who was almost 30% ahead of the incumbent in the first round of voting.

Over the past 5 days, the outflow of funds from Bitfinex amounted to $585 million. Users most intensively withdrew funds on April 26, when the exchange was accused of covering losses of $850 million at the expense of Tether.

The mass outflow is also visible at the rate - while BTC now costs on average $5300 on stock exchanges, on Bitfinex the coin is traded above $5600. This suggests that people buy BTC at any price and withdraw them.

@hodlonaut
Inflation is your past work decaying, crumbling, disappearing between your fingers. The hours and sweat you invested, evaporating under the merciless sun of fiat money.

It's amazing that we have been conditioned to accept this kind of blatant theft.

Bitcoin sets us free.

https://twitter.com/hodlonaut/status/1192059126723096576?s=21

There's nothing inherently bad about 'inflation'.  Both inflation and deflation have their pros and cons.  He's conflating two different arguments.  Getting rid of the Jewish central bank doesn't mean inflation and deflation go away and you live in a steady-state universe.  Silver, for instance, is deflationary because the current, artificially rigged price point isn't high enough to warrant recycling.  The supply is like 1/4th of what it was since 1980, while gold is inflationary and the supply has doubled.  The rigged market prices have not yet priced that in, though.
Inflation is a consequence of the debt economy, the debt economy is evil, although there are certainly pluses in it too!

Inflation is a consequence of the debt economy

Again, you can have inflation without a central bank, so you can't just use a blanket statement saying all inflation is 'evil'.  In fact, deflationary monetary instruments are inherently WORSE than inflationary ones in a real free market.  Why?  Try the example I already gave a long time ago using the TV show "Pawn Stars".  If this Rick guy at his pawn shop buys things from customers and has to sit on them for several years to sell them, he's profiting if he purchased the items with an inflationary currency, and he's losing money the entire time if he bought them with a deflationary currency.  This is why Gresham's law exists.

Doing business with a deflationary currency is objectively worse than with an inflationary one.  If he actually wanted to stay in business, it would require this Rick guy to do more work and have to estimate a time span for how long each item would take to sell, then break out a calculator and calculate things like compound interest, then low ball a bid based on that time span and interest rates.  He has to do none of that with an inflationary currency.  The deflationary currency just introduces more variables, more unknowns, and more bankrupting black swans for a business if their estimate was not correct.

The ideal form of money is obviously neither deflationary or inflationary, but that option isn't too practical in reality, so Gresham's law and what I talked about above makes deflationary money automatically lose.  The only reason I don't see this as a negative for silver - as it's currently deflationary as opposed to inflationary like gold - is that once the price of silver skyrockets from manipulation imploding it will make recycling feasible and no longer deflationary.
I don't see the problem you've described. Rick already buys things that are doomed to get cheaper, especially if it's electrical engineering...
What prevents Rick from buying jewelry that will only cost more over time? He can buy two rings that can now be exchanged for a kilo of sugar. After a year, these 2 rings will give less deflationary money, but they can be exchanged for one and a half kilograms of sugar conditionally.

People seriously leave their BTC on a random centralized website where they don’t control the private keys just to get a reported 4% interest?

You can get over 100% profits quite regularly just by HODLING.

Fuck that!

Not your keys, not your BTC!
Sometimes human greed forces people to do very stupid things...

Recently, I myself almost got into such trouble, Roll Eyes did not want to pay the intermediaries for imported goods from Europe and decided to buy in my country at a lower price, but already in use. They tried to sell me a VERY high quality Chinese copy, but I was lucky and I realized it was not the original!  Cool

On the up side at 4% it'll take around 19yrs to double your bitcoin so you can take out your initial investment and continue collecting interest risk free. On the flip side you can loose everything at any point during those 19yrs. Do you feel lucky, punk? Do you?
Yes, I feel it!

It has unlimited emissions.  Which means it will perpetually underperform.

Sadly, Monero is br0ke

Doesn't that just make it a not deflationary asset?
BTC is cool to use for accumulation, but it's a shame to sell it because tomorrow it will be more expensive than yesterday!

And the Monero will always have a price formed by market demand. Won't it?
