I made so many bad decisions today it's not even funny. I can't fucking believe that I managed to lose some money on this drop to 340 and rise up instead of making a killing.

it happens man, just evaluate the fall to 340 and the rise so that you learn from what was going on. Personally, I stepped out when it dropped to 440 for a loss due to the coming china news and I felt uncomfortable holding any more due to the uncertainty. I missed out on the rise from 340 to 400 because I was asleep at the time and I obviously could have profited more.

The biggest news I've read for many weeks now. I have long thought that this should be the way for BTC to lead the way towards a "reserve currency" role. If this move finds some more followers then this is the endgame.

How do you know it's only one guy, and not several orders stacked on top of eachother?

I donīt know if itīs only one guy, but there have been several single ~1000BTC  sells that were not stacked if you look into the historic trading records. Maybe there are different players making 1000BTC market sells, what do i know.

Someone just pumped ~ $50,00 worth into BTC on BTC-e.  Could be nothing or it could be some trader looking to dump again if we go up 5%.  Still, it's weird that it would happen on an exchange where BTC was trading @ $309 a week ago.

some of that love needs to happen on bitfinex. Quite a lot of coins to get bought on the way to 520.

$513 to 508.74 is enough to bring out the trolls?  That has to be bullish with less than a 1% drop is the most they can hope for.

I can remember a lot of threads and comments on higher price levels where people were shouting "That's all you can do, bears (trolls)?" and a few days after there came a lot, lot more. So should I interpret your comment as a bearish indicator?

No, it's nearly meaningless who's shouting here, but I would wish to read more cautious statements, a wish that will never come true, as some people don't learn from the past and keep shouting.

Volume is totally absurd these last days, doesn't look like an accumulation at all. Any reason, the experts?

There is no accumulation. There is no big money dying to get in. There are no whales secretly buying tons of coins.
There is no evidence for this.
The only reason you might think this is happening is because of a bunch of delusional posters here who just kept repeating it until they believed it is a fact.

The only buyers are some new guys who quickly leave again after their investment is worth 10% less within 2 hours because of the dumpers.

soon enough, patience is crucial Wink

If we could recover, we'll probably get a straight pump to $400+

No. We will simply get more dumps. You still don't see the situation we're in?

its rocket fuel, shroomy. The longer we are held at this price, the more explosive the rise will be. We will get a rise up to the mid 400s in a few weeks. Just gotta be patient and trade these waves or load up at this price, depending on the amount you are looking at.

I will agree as soon as price hits 275$ again.

bitcoin will not go that low. At the most it will drop to $360 and then spike back up.

quite risky, if you are going to leverage that much, basically your stop loss is the long/short price, so one better be sure of the trend.

I did the opposite, have a bad feeling now

I might have just lost my nerve, but I don't think we'll go much lower... possible we head back into the 330-340 range, but this seems like a steady price, actually. This is right about where the price was (a little lower) before the spike got out of control. That was a fluke, but I think this price is pretty close to real. Not touching this thing unless there's a clear direction, though. This market is a bit crazy.

yup, which is why i love roof in and drop losses, either way, if you are unsure of which way, you can take a position and let it run and see what happens. If you are right, awesome, if you are wrong small losses but you can bought/sold based on what happens. Win win

I like that strategy, but every time I've tried it was right after big volume and I didn't get big volume again thereafter. It's a very witty bet on big volume, though.

yeah, well i am running that strategy atm myself. I am bought (i probably shouldnt be, but i just rebought), but I have a roof in at $400 and my drop loss at $365. We will see, but its a nice risk mitigation technique.

I have to ask, or it's going to eat my alive: what's the difference between a drop loss and a stop loss?

Is it related to a timid order? Or a barge in account?

ah well i am involved with haasbot, which is a bitcoin/altcoin bot. One of the features it has is roof in and drop loss (drop loss is basically a stop loss on an exchange), whereas a roof in will execute a buy if the price that is entered is reached, which is $400 for me, atm.

Trying to understand this, please bear with me, you mean you now are nett long around current prices which you will stop out at 365 and take a loss, but if the price breaks thru 400 then you will add to your long?

no, this is without leverage, as I will being going to sleep soon, so I don't want to miss any action based on what happens while i sleep.

You mean you have no open position at the mo, but the bot will sell short for you if the price breaks below 365, or buy on a breakout above 400?

yeah i don't have a leverage position outside of being bought with bitcoin. I will re-evaluate it in the morning, though. Basically the way I have haasbot set up is to determine if I should be bought or sold while I sleep, but deal with leverage trading yet.

Note: we are working on adding in leveraged trading for Haasbot though via trade bots and order bots, which will be very interesting once we get that worked out.

So in my opinion the price won't move much until then or perhaps Friday (Bitcoin black friday) Has not had its tangible effect measured much yet.
