That's what bothers me the most. Yeah, the rises are steep, but steady. Thats diffrent from the past...

In a market of immaterial things, based on trust, if we are in a new big bubble is simply a Black Swan, an unexpected occurrence, to unleash panic selling.

new technologies do not get outlawed and never did. and bitcoin is a new technology.
new technology=blockchain they will not ban it of course.

but what im afraid of is that states+banks+multinational companies will use the technology to create their own [controlled] tokens. And when they are ready few years from now, they could start prohibiting  other cryptos from financial transactions. its impossible to ban people from sending bitcoin transactions, but they can ban e-shops/exchanges from accepting them for purchases payments, and push for their own controlled coins instead.
what would be bitcoin without ability to use it for buying stuff?

It would be interesting to find out how much percentage of bitcoins are used to purchase goods and services, how to trade and how much for long-term investment as safe haven.  Wink

ANXPRO policy on next Forks and Airdrops:
---------------------
"What are Hard Forks and Air Drops?

A “blockchain hard fork” is an event where there is a split in the network with two competing blockchains. This may take the form of:

Business as usual, where in the normal course of operation, temporary network splits happen and resolve themselves (typically withinseconds or minutes); no new currency or blockchain is created.
Non-contentious upgrades hard forks, where typically the majority of a network upgrade to a new version of the software and the old chain dies off; no new currency or blockchain is created.
Non-contentious “airdrop” forks, where a new blockchain is created, splitting off from an existing blockchain. Both chains continue to operate normally under different names (for example Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash). In this case an additional blockchain is created, and operates under a new name.
Contentious fork, where segments within the community cannot reach consensus on the rules of the blockchain. One or both sub communities implement changes to the blockchain and accepting that “their” version of the consensus rules represent the “new” chain. In this case there may be significant disruption to the network, and one or multiple competing currencies may remain in operation after the event. There may even been industry confusion as to the naming of each blockchain.
An “Air Drop” is where tokens are allocated to existing token holders in a blockchain. The newly created tokens may be allocated in a fork of the source blockchain, or they may be tokens in a new or different blockchain.

Air Drops are typically non-contentious; normally some steps must be undertaken for a wallet management service to obtain the airdropped tokens.

-----

ANXPRO Operating Procedures Regards Some Recent and Upcoming Forks and Air Drops

Bitcoin Cash Non-Contentious Air Drop -
On August 1st, 2017 a non-contentious airdrop fork occurred where a new blockchain “Bitcoin Cash” was created as a clone of the original Bitcoin blockchain with some consensus rule changes.
ANXPRO halted deposits, trading, and withdrawals until system stability was clear. ANXPRO remains undecided on the economic viability of adding and supporting Bitcoin Cash, and will make a decision on whether to support Bitcoin Cash in early 2018.

Bitcoin Gold Hard Fork -
Bitcoin Gold is a new cryptocurrency denoted, as of now, as BTG or “bgold”. It will be a fork of the original Bitcoin and is a community-activated hard fork of Bitcoin with the claimed objective of improving miner decentralization. Bitcoin Gold is slated to launch on 25th October 2017, although the exact time for this fork is not yet confirmed.
ANXPRO does not consider Bitcoin Gold to be high risk at this time.
ANXPRO will not be supporting Bitcoin Gold in the near term, or crediting Bitcoin Gold to Bitcoin deposit holders; customers who wish to participate in this Air Drop are required to withdraw their funds prior to the 24th of October.

Bitcoin SegWit2x Hard Fork -
SegWit2x is a proposition to boost Bitcoin's transaction capacity, first proposed in May by a subsection of the community as a compromise between competing proposals (segwit and larger blocks). The fork is currently expected to occur sometime during November.
ANXPRO is concerned the SegWit2x hard fork is extremely contentious.
The high level of contention in the community has resulted in two competing implementations that both appear identical to existing legacy wallet clients, which may lead to confusion and disagreement across the Bitcoin ecosystem regarding the validity of transactions.
There are a large number of possible outcomes, including but not limited to:
Both chains coexist, with confusion and contention over which chain is “Bitcoin” (this is particularly complicated as SegWit2x will possibly be recognised as the valid chain by existing mobile and light wallets) OR
A compromise or emergency hard fork executed by either blockchain results in the emergence of a single blockchain.
ANXPRO feels the outcome remains unclear, however the possibility of a major network disruption is very high.
ANXPRO will schedule an extended outage from the fork date. ANXPRO will monitor the network, industry, and customer feedback through this period to form a policy on:
When it is safe to resume Bitcoin operations
Which of the two (or both) blockchains should be supported, and
What currency name and codes to use for each blockchain
ANXPRO requires customers withdraw with Bitcoin from ANXPRO prior to the hard fork if they wish to have the ability to participate in both chains.

ANXPRO will not be supporting Bitcoin SegWit2x Hard Fork in the near term.

As a final reminder, you must withdraw your digital currencies from ANXPRO if you wish to participate in forks and Air Drops. Security and stability is always our top-most priority and ANXPRO cannot, at this time, support unproven and unstable blockchains. ".

The more Bitcoins you have , the more "free" Bgold (BTG) and segwit2x (B2X) altcoin airdrop you will get to dump for Bitcoin , fiat , or more altcoin. Regardless how you feel about the balance and ratios of your assets , it is simply a wise short term strategy to go 100% in bitcoin right now till shortly after Nov 18th.

Keep bitcoins for next 3-5 days only (till BGold airdrop). Then sell as fast as you can. Segwit2x is something which is not going to exist ever, it'll get confirmed shortly.

In my opinion, we must reflect on what it is used for a Fork:

1) to solve at least in theory some technical problem.
2) to earn a lot of money to someone.
3) to allow the enemies of the Bitcoin to sow internal destructive wars which is anarchic by definition and does not have a centralized authority that decides and resolves. The best way to decrease the confidence that ordinary people can have in the system itself and its efficiency. Really the only way to destroy the Bitcoin system.

Hacking and scams remain the top risk for Bitcoin holders. Exchanges that shut down or passwords stolen from devices can easily wipe out a person’s bitcoins. Moreover, governments and central banks from various countries are starting to impose limitations on the use of cryptocurrencies.

Digital coins clearly threaten the political and economic establishment, and the regulatory environment can quickly change with the stroke of a legislative pen. Banks and governments typically use familiar language in the media, such as the need to protect consumers from new risks.

We are hearing familiar talking points from politicians who are getting pressured from the banking lobby. It seems that the root cause of the status quo’s actions in 2017 is to protect fiat currencies and traditional financial interests. Competing digital coins represent a potential end to the government’s monopoly of the monetary system.

Looks like masterluc's latest has pulled the $9588 top prediction ... so we're out of ideas or meaningful upside targets based on previous bases formed ... bitcoin is blowing through the crazy, insane top predictions in my estimation and we still haven't yet seen the blow-off I don't think. This could be quite a dangerous market from here on but we can't discount a couple more doublings to $13,600-14,400 and $28,800 regions in quick time ... good luck moonshotters, shitz really got real.

Network protocols are not a democracy. They need near universal agreement in order to work.

The reason is simple:

If for every contentious choice, there was a 52% group that said "yes I like that" and a 48% group that said "I don't like that", then you have two protocols. In the second contentious choice for each fork, of similar dynamics (52-48), you have four protocols. In the third, you have eight protocols - which all do not recognize each other. If there were, say, 8 DNS protocols, your router wouldn't even know where to begin with in order to convert a name to an IP address...

Bitcoin is trying to compete with assets like Gold. You can't "fork" Gold or redefine what Gold is and that has value. Bitcoin's resistance to re-definition, likewise has value. Some people are trying hard to damage this resistance in order to say "see? Bitcoin is crap, it can be forked, it can be inflated through forks, uncertainty can be introduced on what fork will be the "right" one, etc etc... gold doesn't have all this bullshit, I'll stick with gold / stocks / fiat".

This is why all the forkers are cancer. They are undermining bitcoin, or are actively trying to control it, under any narrative like "bigger blocks". Even when they had their "big blocks" with BCH and the 8mb fork, now they are trying to take BTC to 8mb as well with S2X. Why don't they simply stick to BCH? It's simple: Because it was never about big blocks, it was about CONTROL.

" The Italian Bitcoin community, while still growing in size and partially “scattered” around the world, proudly includes some very important international actors, such as one of the oldest operating Bitcoin exchanges, one of the most advanced Bitcoin wallets, the two leading startups on blockchain notarization and smart oracles, examples of impressive local adoption like the “Bitcoin Valley”, the first organized lobbying group at EU institutions, one of the most important R&D laboratories, one of the most relevant Bitcoin Meetups in Europe, and so on.

On October 20th, BHB Network published its official statement against the so-called “Segwit 2X” contentious fork of the Bitcoin network, which has been presented during the 46th Bitcoin Milan Meetup. With the present document, other important members of the Italian Bitcoin community decided to share the same position, reaffirming their complete opposition to every attempt to change the Bitcoin protocol in a rushed, irresponsible, and contentious way, political in its nature and without any technological motivation.

The opposition is especially strong against any action of this kind that could cause huge inconveniences for service providers and serious confusion for users, potentially leading to financial losses: unilateral attempts to appropriate Bitcoin name, logo or “ticker”, attempts to mislead light-clients and SPV wallets on alternative networks not explicitly chosen by them, attempts to launch new coins in a way which leave users vulnerable to “replay attacks” or address format confusion, attempts to attack the network with a temporary hashing-power majority in order to create disruptive reorgs or to slow down the normal activity".

Yep...  I have, i don't want one single person to lose their money.

The coin is oversold.  why would people (or bots) sit on this thread and encourage noobs to buy it, when deep down even the hardest bull knows it's the end for now.

Would you recommend your grandma to buy at 8150 ?  Please answer that question.

If it was 21 billion bitcoins, instead of 21 million bitcoins, would you consider a price of "8$" as expensive?

Yet it is the exact same thing as 8000 with a supply divided by 1000.

It's just that the average grandma can't even make distinctions between millions and billions, and how marketcap is calculated, so these things are outside her comprehension. It's that simple really. People who can't understand why bitcoin price is seemingly "high" will hand over their bitcoins for cheap. They'd do the same if they owned berkshire stocks - which are now close to 300k usd each, since they don't do stock splits and the quantity of stocks remains lower than other stocks.

But if you do not sell, you do not realize your real money  Wink

Is anybody here still buying? Huh

.......

You do not have to call it day trading because it depends on the spread of your buy/sell increments.  Of course, it is better to practice with smaller increments, and then as you get used to the practice and you stack up your orders on each side, then you can just sit back and if your increments are large enough, you might not need to do anything for several days, and perhaps weeks at a time.

Currently my increments are $500, so they are executing fairly frequently; however, you could have increments of $1000 or $1500 or some other amount.  I would suggest an amount lower than mine to practice, and then thereafter, once you have practiced a bit to increase your increments.  Good luck (even though you sound very disinclined to take these kinds of measures and you would rather worry your little bot head off     Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy)....

Been doing this the part couple of days successfully increasing what I put in, pennies at a time.

I have an understanding of stop sell orders and of course instant orders... What I want is "when prove rises to x buy" but not sure how to do... On stamp, mind.

Little trading Bot... good idea. Just a point: the limit orders that do not trigger, in the other side of the movement, are trailing with the price?  If so, it should be better.   Smiley Smiley

Haha, so now the trolls are in an uproar because of the thought that Bitcoin maximalists won't even bother to hold altcoins because they know that such can be traded for as needed for day-to-day transactions?

Well they should be. Because Bitcoin is digital gold, that only has value that continues to increase because people to choose to hold it long term and not spend it.

Altcoins, not so much.

The Lightning Network is perhaps the most hotly-awaited so-called ‘layer two’ upgrade for the Bitcoin network. Once active, users will be able to send BTC funds practically instantaneously for next to no fee."

Very presumptive of you, tera beara.

I think that the better presumption, for all intents and purposes, is that Satoshi is no longer alive.    Therefore, the best interpretation of his vision seems to be carried out through the current implementation of core and whatever good, bad and ugly goes along with it.

Personally, I think that it is a buy, if you don't have any, or an accumulate and HODL, if you have some, and sell only small amounts if you feel you want to attempt to accumulate more through expected ongoing volatility.

Anyone who invests in cryptocurrency knows that on any given day, the value of their investment could plummet. You’re up 10% one moment and down 15% just minutes later. Volatility often feels like a wild roller coaster ride and, unfortunately, there can be steep valleys referred to as FUD: fear, uncertainty and doubt. As soon as people see bad media coverage or a sudden downswing, panic selling can ensue out of fear that they’ll lose their money.

Which leads to the opposite phrase: BTFD or buy the f***ing dip. When people are scared, it’s the right time to buy. As the saying goes, buy low and sell high.

Many skeptics have completely missed the boat on becoming a bitcoin or crypto millionaire. These are the types who keep warning family and friends that the industry is Tulip Bubble 2.0.

But each day, there are more believers. FOMO refers to fear of missing out, thus you find more people stepping outside of their comfort zone and buying cryptos. One side-effect of FOMO is that you often lose hours of sleep researching various tokens and setting up wallets.

So you are just trolling on here. But why? Why is a math guy, a scientist and coder on bitcointalk BITCOIN speculation main thread, trolling?

You guys are complete noobs if you think BCH is bitcoin's biggest problem.  Bankers own the majority of ETH IPO, and by their constant market manipulation, you can tell they're always trying to fool people into make believing it's a hedge trade against BTC.  The amount of manipulation that goes into trying to pump Eth is 10x more than that of BTC.  So, while all cryptocurrencies are complete trash compared to physical silver or gold, and the bankers + CIA and other dipshits own huge amounts of all of these coins, their preference is for Eth to win since they own the most of it.

And Vinay "white genocide" Gupta can go get himself 1488'd.

LOL, because charts that show assets going to infinity make a lot of sense, right?  Not to mention that bitcoin completely fails as a payment system the second fees go this high because people will just use something else instead.  It's a flat out bloated speculation bubble.  Most of these people buying coins on Coinbase didn't even interact with a blockchain AT ALL.  They pay Coinbase fiat for Coinbase IOUs.  The IOUs just sit on Coinbase while they pray the price goes up, then they eventually dump at a profit or loss.  This entire process could be done without bitcoin existing at all.  It's a 100% speculation pump and dump bubble.

My senses are starting to tell me there are Chinese people involved in this tether scam.  Why?  Because Chinese people are the most stubborn donkey-like people on earth, and even though it's completely obvious Bitfinex is committing fraud and printing money from thin air to support $9k price while other exchanges are far below it, a Chinese person caught red-handed doing this kind of scam would just pretend like nothing happened and keep on pulling the money printing lever to print more Gox dollars.  A Jew scammer would actually adjust his strategy to make it less obvious.

Understandable move and might turn out to be good in the mid-term (in a non-speculative way)

Since when banks decide what people can buy with their credit cards? Is bitcoin illegal?

It might be their credit card but it's still the banks money, even though I believe in Bitcoin and recommend investing to people I wouldn't give them my own money to do it.

Right on point. I only see a problem when they forbid to use a pre-paid credit-card for such a purpose. Though I don't know if something like that is a thing in the US.
It's rather common in Germany, but the mentality here is very different.
Prepaid credit card can be an easy and speedy way out from btc to fiat.

Disengage from Nazi noise too, and you could find even more respect.

mmm hitler is very easy ....
on an non ethical way he helped on science and a few things where we have advantage on after the war and his dead , BUT in big lines he did evrything wrong by just killing innocent...

but to say he did nothing wrong is just sick to say .... but everybody's own oppinion ....

Tether is probably a fractional reserve scheme, also they are now clearly saying that they use money to buy "other assets" than dollar and that (if I understand  well) they give loans to "affiliates".

That's pretty much a plain admission of scam to me. They are basically acting as a filthy bank, gambling your money for (their) profits.

Am I understanding well the significance of the statement?

Breaking news:  Tether is a shitcoin
No problem, there is USDC, the Coinbase stablecoin  Wink
