Europe is waking up soon. The next 8 hours are the most critical actually.

idk i think, this is one of the few times in bitcoin when the next 24 12 8 hours are actually not critical   Grin

we breached 400 before i just want to party!

Of course, people tend to rush out and buy just after waking up. Just like coffee and a cigarette.

I don't know.  I check the price every morning when I wake up.  Am I the only one or do I have a serious problem?  Wink

Check computer stuff, including Bitcoin price, is the first thing I do after waking up.

Including leave the bed

Same here. I get up at 5:15am because of work. I make coffee, then I check the price and latest headlines. Been on this routine since January. There has only been about 3 times, when I rushed to buy some coins first thing in the morning after checking the price.

price seems very stable. in the next month there will be an opening of an etf and we will see a new bubble  Grin. however, don't sell now.

How the ETF is going to push the price up ? Winklevoss already owns a shitload of coins that will be liquidating at that ETF, with this kind of really slow demand and with the amount of coins they own it will be a long time before anything could happen, them holding that shit load of coins is one of the reasons the price is still holding.

Beside, don't even mention wall street and this ETF until we see how the Bitlicence is going to look like, if it will be remotely close to what the regulators of NY state are aiming for, then you just kiss wall street and that ETF goodbye.

I see you are being your normal abrasive self. Stating your opinion as undeniable fact.

But its also possible an ETF opens the world of Bitcoin to millions of people who can't be arsed right now to figure out how or why to buy a bitcoin.

Just like when Dwolla made it easy to transfer money in and out of Mt Gox, which in turn bubbled the price up from $2 to $30.

True. Do you know how many people I work with that don't understand how to use Word or Excel. No chance could they use bitcoin. The ETF will help those computer challenged.

4h and 15min MACD suggest a dump is coming. It may however just test short term support.

Bulls are just taking a breath after all those green candles in a row. We should be back on our bullish track in ~5 hours based on the trend lines and TA I have.  If we do dump like the indicators are leaning then we can call off any chance of November being a bull month.  The next few hours are critical!

Really? Smiley
Possibly, as I said for who wants to go long, wait for a bigger retrace.

If we break below 355 we can safely call it that there will be no bull run in November and I'll be shorting again.

Ripple is definitely the future of money. Internet of value is Ripple. Bitcoin is its ancestor.

Can't you work out a deal with your sponsor, so that you get paid the same if each month you put out 1 totally non-informative post with 100 lines, instead of 100 one-line posts?

I read about ripple a while back. I was thinking maybe I missed something with all these posts. So I just went back to check it out.

ripple is a company that uses P2P technology for money transfers.
Half of all ripple will be held by the company.
The company will also collect very small fees on all ripple transactions.

Yup, I choose the CEO-less bitcoin protocol. You can have your corporation.

I have no position right now. I am hoping it goes up to $400... I'll short when it settles down and starts to come down a bit on account of the required retailer dump.

Has there ever been a documented sighting of this dump taking place anywhere ever in human history?

Is Black Friday observed anywhere other than the USA? Is it really all that big of a thing?

Here in Canada we do boxing week between Xmas and New Year's Day. It spreads it out a little.

It is big in America, but for some reason people think that Coinbase and Bitpay operate with zero capital on hand. They believe every time some one buys or sells then coinbase and bitpay have to run to the exchanges to get the BTC or fiat creating this imaginary retailer dump they are waiting for.

Copied and noted for later shaming when price is in the lower 300s within a week's time.

If there's a dump within a week's time it will be from the Dec 4th auction, not a retailer dump.

Just say "no" to online Bitcoin storage.

Paper wallets FTW.

why not btc insured against theft like circle.com and like money is with banks

What if the insuring site is hacked?

They can't hack a paper wallet that's never been exposed to the internet.

I gotta go with paper wallets as well. I don't entirely trust circle. I'll buy BTC there or Coinbase but then I'll transfer to my paper wallets.

Won't we?

Black Friday has little effect on the price of bitcoin... gotta wait until December 4th or soon thereafter.... but NO guarantees anything will happen after December 4; however, less likely any kind of rally will occur prior to December 4.

Out of curiosity why are you stating an importance to December 4th?

That's the date of the auction for the seized coins.

Bots are nothing new. They just do what the buyers and sellers should. That is get the best price for a position.

Oh yea I know they're not new. I am speculating that market buy bot combined with that 500 BTC buy wall they keep throwing up and taking down indicates (at least to me) some desperation. Makes me think going short right now might not be a bad idea.

What is your point lambchop?

Governments don't care about people downloading dvd rips on torrent, industry does. And they lobby western governments hard to try and protect their dwindling resources.

Childporn is criminal and should be pursued by the police with whatever powers they have.

My point is jaywalking is criminal too, though governments will not make as great an effort to stomp out jaywalking as they would with something which threatens their very lifeblood--money.

Why does such shit need to be explained?  Am I talking to a wayward child blowing off school to troll the intertubes?  How old ru bro?

Jaywalking, child porn, media pirating and bitcoin are all the same... great comparison.

There are over 13.5 million produced or “mined” on a blockchain of record. Exchange of hands is recorded by Bitcoinity which showed 3.59 million exchanged hands November 30th week ending. The previous week was 3.68 million. Traders speak to one another on a site called LocalBitcoins which is to maintain their identity and privacy.

The low volatility is weird.

We've got some tiny but steady green candles on the 1D chart. My gut tells me we're going to shoot up in the next day or so and have that 3D EMA cross over we've been waiting for, but I'm not confident enough to go into a long position.

Something like...

On the first day of Christmas my true love sold to me
One valuable bitcoin!
On the etc., etc.

Try it!
Musical fun for the whole Bitcoin family, and no one will notice that Dad has lost all of the family do re mi & there's nothing but

under the plastic tree!

Ughh... wut?

Let's have a little talk about tweetle beetles....

What do you know about tweetle beetles?  Well...

When tweetle beetles fight,
it's called a tweetle beetle battle.

And when they battle in a puddle,
it's a tweetle beetle puddle battle.

AND when tweetle beetles battle with paddles in a puddle,
they call it a tweetle beetle puddle paddle battle.

LOL, okay Citi says the coins are going to go for a steep discount, must sell all my coins, after all they are bitcoin experts  Roll Eyes

Which thought is correct?

(a) They should go for somewhat of a discount because it's an auction, and they are buying in bulk.
OR
(b) They should go for a bit over the current price because one couldn't simply buy that large amount of coins regularly without causing major slippage.

It seems there are a lot of people posting that the auction was 30,000.  Just lots of people out there with blogs and thin on facts.

This guy says 30,000 and 27 bids.  He seems to have merged the facts from both auctions.

Because they already own 100k+. They don't need more to become very, very rich.

Perhaps it's because they a lot of time and capital tied up in the ETF right now and an auction isn't on top of their priority list.  That's my guess.

I feel bad for anyone who does not have at least 10BTC at these prices.

LOL noob buys in with $3k in one buy. This is how you create weak hands. You need to dollar cost average homeboy. Buy a little bit every month and that way you are invested but not emotional about price swings.

Funny that I can't remember any other revolutionary technologies over the past 100 years that plummeted in value 6 years after their invention, and after pretty much everyone knew about them and still decided not to use them.

I don't remember anyone inventing P2P money before either. I'm pretty sure this is a new thing.  Let me check... yup it's new, first time thinga-ma-jig!

ok here comes my theory about the last 24 hours.

1) Pantera decided that stamp "hack" is actually a really serious blow.

-> losing the faith of stamp users + bad PR (bad security/incompetence)

2) Pantera demand stamp to correct the situation asap

-> stamp didnt accept the demand (for whatever reason)

3) Pantera threatens to cut all ties to stamp if they dont accept the demand

-> removing dan morehead from bitstamp

4) stamp got scared and are now buying btc

i could get a oscar for this right?

Due to its banking partnership, dollars kept on Gemini will be eligible for FDIC (Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation) insurance and are as "safe and secure as they are in your bank account today", the exchange claims."

Hmm... FDIC only insures bank deposits against bank failures, isn't that so?

If the clients' dollar deposits are stored in a single bank account, in the name of Gemini (as most exchanges do), the FDIC will not insure the clients against Genesis screwing it up (as MtGOX did).  Isn't that so?

Not just banks. They also insure "depository institutions" per FDIC's website:  " The majority of these insured depository institutions are subsidiaries of bank holding companies."

I absolutely believe it's possible, even much higher. HOWEVER I would not bet on it. Almost anything is possible with price of BTC. All you need is demand and new money for the price to rise. With coinbase's new exchange and the expected launch of Gemini, regulated exchanges could attract new money from deeper pockets of those who may have been skeptical about the existing exchanges.

At what point can the long-term downtrend be considered 'over'?

We've been above or out of the long term down trend as of March 1st from what I'm seeing. So it's only been 4 days, so could just be a 'false break' or it could be the start of a trend reversal. It would only take a drop to $245 ($22) to be back into the bear trend.

Depends who you ask, and what count they have in mind (if they use EW) Cheesy

Depends also on what is meant by "long term downtrend being over". The old downtrend could be over, but be replaced by another one, maybe less severe (i.e. a different downwards channel). Or it could end, but not be immediately followed by a much more bullish market either (i.e. bottom is in, but it's not rally time yet). There are several ways to look at it...

Anyway, I don't have a fixed target at which I would conclude with certainty that the bear market is over, or let's say, that target is so high, I wouldn't want to wait until we reach it before buying back. That target would be roughly: close above weekly SMA20, supported by volume, possibly followed by consolidation or minor retracement not further than the SMA, followed by a trend reaching for upper weekly BB (high 300s to 400).

Thanks. A little more technical than I was expecting, but still Smiley
@coinableS: what would your criteria be?

I'd say that we need to above this long term trend line for longer than just a few days before we can say we are out of the bear market. Things look promising but just a $20 swing can put is back in the downtrend.  Just look at May last year, things looked good, but then we went straight back down. If we're still moving up and above the trend line April 15th then I'd be pretty convinced we're out.

10x 30-50 coins so the same as trading 300-500 coins. $10 moves can make $3000-$5000. Thats just one way without scalping the chop and inevitable pull backs. The key is EXTREMELY good risk management.

Good luck to you, that's way too risky for me. I wouldn't want to risk a margin call on a stash of 30-50 coins to make a few grand.

what i wonder is whether this is actually a good thing ... i think it is - if all exchanges pay attention to high level thefts / scams AND track the stolen coins from the point of origin AND every single exchange takes action to confiscate illegally obtained coins pending legal system justice / assists law enforcement in tracking down and punishing these criminals ... then no more bitcoin theft crime ? right ? ... it'd basically fall to the dozen or so major exchanges to monitor and enforce legal activity ... if nobody anywhere accepts *obviously* stolen coins on any exchange then large scale theft would not be possible ? (without adequate mixing / obfuscation of origin / slowly spending of stolen coins for goods) ... personally i'd love no exchange anywhere in the world being willing to accept stolen bitcoin ...

Do we want them making the decision as to what qualifies as a crime? There have been numerous reports about Coinbase tracking for people that gamble. Do you think that is okay? I think it's a slippery slope. Bitcoin should be mathematical and unbiased. If you have the private key that's all that should be required.

I still wonder why almost all of the recent price increases are based on small time frame large 2-3 thousand volume candles. And I still wonder if some sort of institutional investor is buying the coins, waiting for the next dip and rebuying in order to cause less of a price hike. If you look at the finiex 15 minute candles you will see two large 3k volume boosts in price followed by a decline back to the baseline ~300 volume. Looks like a single person buying to me.

I'm actually feeling very bullish for bitcoin. Short term, it's still great to trade whether trend is headed down or up. But all the big players entering the game lately is very encouraging for the long run IMO. Lot's of people see real promise and we're just building a foundation in 2014 and now. Companies are setting up their positions in the market. Remember in just 5-6 years the block reward will only be around 6 BTC. If the BIT is still around, I assure you it still wont be on the pink sheets. Buying and HODLing isn't meant to be fun or glamorous.

I just had an idea about how to explain bitcoin: A bitcoin is real estate on the most secure public ledger in the world. Bitcoins are similar to land in that that the total amount is fixed. How much real estate? 1/21 millionth.

If the blockchain was Manhattan Island, each bitcoin would be worth 44.8 square feet.

If the Blockchain was Texas, each bitcoin would be the equivalent of 8.2 acres.

If the blockchain was North America, each bitcoin would be worth 290.7 acres.

If the blockchain was the world, each bitcoin would be worth over 2.7 square miles.

Some land is barren and worthless, what about farmland?

There are 3.4 Billion Hectares of farm land globally (http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2005/12/1209_051209_crops_map.html)

Avg price of farm land per hectare across the globe. $6,790.62 (#’s based on http://www.businessinsider.com/booming-farmland-market-2011-4?op=1 Sampling price per hectare in Russia, Canada, US, Brazil, New Zealand, Zambia, Ukraine, Romania, Poland, Australia, Argentina, England.

Market cap of farm land ~$23 Trillion. 3.4 Billion hectares * $6,790.62 = $23,088,108,000,000

1 BTC out of 21 million as a ratio = 0.0000000476 $23,088,108,000,000 * 0.0000000476 = $1,099,433.71

So one bitcoin is a million dollars! On sale today for only 250!

Not for long, and then the longs start to get margin called and the flood gates are opened. That is my prognosis.

Or the longs are right and the only margin calls are on the shorters. Then this:

Basically, bitcoiners don't know how remittances actually work.

Car manufacturers did not necessarily know how horses worked either.
You forgot to say that bitcoin is "like the internet in its early days", that blockchains cure cancer, that satoshi is the savior of mankind, that people in 2050 will sell their yachts, islands or houses for a fraction of a bitcoin, etc etc

^^  Huh  are you lost, or getting paid? You know I really dislike justin bieber's music. Maybe I should register an account on a bieber forum and bash him all day! ... nope sorry I actually have a life that's not worth wasting.

What day will GBTC trade openly on the NYSE?
-Monday

-Thursday
-Friday
-Next week or later.

I know I'll have my trading window up at market open tomorrow.
Not NYSE but OTC Markets. Monday is my guess.

I wouldn't be surprised if it drags out much longer. I think more people are looking for the Winklevoss type ETF instead of an investment trust.
UITs are mainly buy and hold investments. They have maturity dates similar to CDs and there is little trading with most UITs. If you're looking for something for the big boys to actually trade on an exchange you're looking at an ETF.

It is naive to expect a technological solution to a social/political/economic problem.  The bad guys -- "powers that be", criminals, corrupt politicians and officers, cartels, etc. -- will either ban it, neutralize it, or twist it to serve their purposes. (You can see it happening with bitcoin already.) Such problems can be addressed only by substantial, sustained, and clear-thinking political effort.

It's not naive at all. It's naive to think that technology's only purpose is watching cat videos and video phones. It's typical of someone that is over-the-hill to assume all new technology is somehow bad or useless. This is just like the file sharing talks from 10 years ago all over again. All the old folks sit behind desks say "we will stop it" when they don't understand how powerful P2P is. You can ban it, but you can not stop it.

Thanks for the chart. As they say "liquidity begets liquidity".

If I were the skeptical type, I would speculate that this is coinbase using some of their recent funding in an attempt to lure more volume trading on their platform.

If I were the more conspiratorial type, I might suggest this is just fake walls...

That's quite a large rise in volume out of nowhere... Why?? I like your "skeptical type" answer above, coinbase fluffing their own orderbook?

All you have to do is short and you'll make money just look at these patterns (insert chart with RSI and MACD indicators circled).

Past performance does not guarantee future performance. Everything that attracted people to bitcoin is still there, the protocol is not broken. When this turns around the bears will short because they've been accustomed to short = profit which will only feed the fire of the next bull run.

That sure was an expensive way to get coins, who has such a great need to remain anonymous that they would pay a premium like that?

Let's say anonymity was the reason for the purchase through BTC-e, why purchase so much at market rate? Why such the rush? They could have remained anon and bought slower and placing multiple bids without jacking the price up over $260.

The whole thing is bizarre.

If you have seen enough of my posts, you should know that I *do* try to do serious data analysis, and to understand bitcoin deeper than Antonopoulos-level.  I think I have learned a few things about bitcoin that bitcoiners do not seem to be aware of, or try hard to ignore, or deny because they desperately need them to be false.  I think that this sort of thing is quite appropriate for a computer scientist to "waste" his time on.

And so on.  I don't know whether those pokings will yield something that many people will care to know, but, as some famous scientist said, "research is what I am doing when I don't know what I am doing"...
I have seen many of your posts and they are on topic and not gibberish troll speak however they are usually biased towards a negative view of bitcoin. Then you claim to not own any and that you don't trade, yet you spend most of your time in the speculative thread, not the development or tech sections making me seriously doubt the technical knowledge you claim to have. Being completely honest, you appear to have a more research approach like a columnist or reporter would have.

At the end of it I still don't get it. I'm looking for the why. Are you writing book? I can't figure out why you would put so much effort into something but then not take any part in it.

Circle's philosophy hasn't shifted. They've been focused on dollar balances using bitcoin rails since their inception. They're just now attempting to close that "circle".

What's more surprising is that Goldman Sachs is interested in the utility of an asset that has been crashing for a year and a half. Wall St. tends to stay away from such things.

I don't think that was too surprising considering Circle has Goldman alumni on their executive board.

Bitcoin has a much much lower chance of failure now than it did when I bought in for $10 in 2011. This isn't even my first 18 month bear market. This is normal, but hodling is hard. At the next ATH when we find ourselves regretting not buying MOAR NOW, don't let anybody tell you you didn't earn every bit of it.

Wish I got in back in 2011, but hindsight is 20/20 I probably wouldn't have bought much. I remember first hearing about bitcoin in 2012 and I completely dismissed it as being equivalent to WOW gold. I literally thought that it was some centralized website selling digits for money. I remember thinking, why would anyone pay for that crap? I didn't even look into it to discover that it was actually a revolutionary new technology.

I'm going to hodl until the end but I'm starting to feel a bit deflated about the future of bitcoin so much so that I'm wondering if it was an awful investment to begin with.
We've gone nowhere except down for so long now Sad

That might be how you are supposed to feel LFC. There are a lot of people that are threatened by bitcoin and <tinfoil hat>they could be the reason behind the constant down pressure. Or perhaps banks are providing down pressure while trying to accumulate everyone elses coins.</tinfoil hat> Also the inflation rate is currently insane, 25 new BTC every 10 minutes, 3,600 new BTC per day. Right now is too early to use price as the model for success of bitcoin. The bitcoin price is like cheap make-up on a tramp, it's the first thing people talk about and completely superficial at this stage of the game.
You still own a very scarce item that allows instant transfer of value of the internet or even paper. The technology is revolutionary and even the big players are admitting that now. The protocol is not broken and bitcoin is building a very strong foundation for the future. Your biggest regret in 15 years will be if you gave up because the price went down. This is a one in a lifetime happening and you are lucky enough to know about it, how to get it, how to use it, store it, etc. That is your hedge; you are computer savvy compared to the rest of the world that still can't figure out to get that yahoo toolbar off their screen and are completely befuddled by bitcoin. This is going to be a really long haul, like I said 15 years is a good target.

On a 1,000 mile journey it's not the mountains that stop you, but the sand in your shoe.

An interesting detail from here

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2015-05-20/bank-regulator-lawsky-to-exit-with-new-york-6-billion-richer

Ben Lawsky stands down as New York's financial supernintendo

'The 45-year-old regulator plans to set up his own consulting firm in New York, advising financial institutions on matters related to technology, cybersecurity and virtual currency.'

Teensy conflict of interest there. He creates the problem and then charges for the solution.

Ok so we all get what he's doing to make money. However I think this is a very bullish development. He stepped down and is creating his own firm to handle regulation on digital currencies like bitcoin, meaning he knows bitcoin is here to stay and there is money to be made in the sector.  Lawsky talked to higher-ups and big dirty bankers and likely knows what is coming down the pipe for bitcoin from a regulation and banking perspective.  If he stepped down and decided to start a law firm that handled other financial regulations that did not include virtual currency, then that would have been a huge red flag of bad things to come for bitcoin.

I think i'm ready to quit trading. I'll never get that money back. I dunno how one could loose so much so fast, even if one is totally inexperienced, it seems one would make money at least 50% of the time. But i've made money something like 2% of the time. I just don't have the patience for this.

Use a cold wallet and forget your BTC, in a few years you will read that 1btc=20k$ and you could sell it

Or your coins might end up in the wrong chain of a Bitcoin's hard fork and worth next to 0 in the future.

Put in cold storage is OK, but forget and take for granted they'll be worth a fortune in the future in my opinion is a mistake

That's not true. Any coins placed into an address today will be present no matter which fork ends up being the main chain. The fork(s) will use the existing blockchain to know who owns which coins. For someones cold storage coins to "disappear" from a fork the fork would have to delete the existing blockchain and start all over with a new one, which no one would agree to.

At what price do those 18k shorts on finex get margin called? (poor die hard bears)

Some are already closing. In the last 24 hours shorts on finex have dropped by 1,500 BTC. Doesn't look like any cascading calls yet though. We move up a bit and then a little down but overall it's up.

$260+ holding up quite nicely. I think we'll see the price move upwards to past $320 in the next two or three weeks.

Agreed. Earlier today it looked like it was creating a head and shoulders pattern but it looks like that's not happening anymore.
For a while I thought we were going to go back to $255 or below, nice to see the $260 is holding. Will there be another push for $270 soon, it's been an important mark.

Can't go on forever.  Candles are pretty long but can't expect it to go on forever, not as strong as the mighty China push (or whatever it was) Grin

LOL "green candles can't go on forever". We've had red candles for 18 months straight. We get one month of green candles, and the bears are already calling in the top.  Cheesy

I totally know what a "no" vote means, but just for those too embarrassed to ask, what would it mean?

Absolutely,
Tsipras will put up a referendum on whether to accept the latest Troika proposed deal, also called the "yes vote", or decline it, also called the "no vote". A yes vote will in theory be an order for the Greek government to accept the deal and make new significant cuts in the budget, the no vote will mean that Greece will not pay its IMF debt and ECB debt, and will effectively go into default.

Agreed, but even if we don't break it on this little upswing and drop a bit this coming week we can still be okay as long as we stay above $270. If it takes some time to get over $315 that's fine as long as overall trend stays positive.

A leg up.  That bounce down was the price re-coiling before it jumps back up over $300. It just has to back up a bit so that it can get a running start.  Cool

I still believe that bitcon's price will go to zero in a few years; but almost certainly not by that route...

I think you are dismissing die-hards and fanatics in that equation.
There are still people that play Quake III and pay for servers even though the game is 16 years old. There is still a select few that still play.
I know bad example, except for those of us in the 30's age group.
Anyways my point is that there will always be a demand and use for bitcoin. If not by mainstream then at least by niche users and diehards. There are some people that wouldn't be able to resist buying 100,000 BTC for $10.00.

A zero price could only be achieved by a major flaw in the protocol that either revealed private keys, or allowed people to generate 'counterfeit' bitcoins.

The official verdict from a bit over an hour ago is that the weekly candle on a large number of exchanges came out red...  (but barely).  Will be interesting to witness whether next week's candle is red or green... seems more likely to be green than red, but what da fuq do I know?

Nothing concrete enough for me to make a trade. I was short until this morning. Not sure where we are headed and I'm not seeing anything definitive enough to take a position.

I can make a guess on what the 3 day might do... which would be very bullish if we had a bullish engulfing candle that covers the 3 previous reds.

Because 'Bitcoin technology' is code for 'private blockchain'.

On the other hand, if a person lives in a struggling situation, then maybe at most s/he would be able to reasonably accumulate 1 to 5 BTC... in these $200 price territories.

Your targets are very high IMO. 10 - 50 BTC, $11,000 is more money than I would be comfortable losing if everything went to zero. 10 BTC ~ $2,000 is also a little tough, I wouldn't be happy losing two grand but it wouldn't be catastrophic either. At least just about everyone can dig up $230 and buy at least one coin. So right now is a great time for new comers to join in, buy a coin and stash it away for a few years.

At least just about everyone can dig up $230 and buy at least one coin. So right now is a great time for new comers to join in, buy a coin and stash it away for a few years.

The point I am making, is NOT only about you and your personal circumstances and your view about the future of Bitcoin.

Surely, a person should keep in mind that s/he could lose the BTC whole investment based on his/her view of probabilities.

Let's say for example, a person viewed probabilities like the below chart of probabilities for a 5 year time-frame:

less than $200 < 5 % chance
$200 to $300 about 5-10% chance
$300 to $500 30-40% chance
$500 to $1000 30-40% chance
$1000 to $5000 12-18% chance
$5000+ about 5% chance

Someone like this better be putting a whole hell-of-a lot of money into BTC because s/he sees the 5 year time frame to be of about equal chance that BTC will be worth more than $5,000 as it will be below $200.  therefore, the outlook suggests to invest quite a chunk of your investment assets in the direction of BTC.

On the other hand, it appears to me, that you, coinableS, are giving a much greater probability that BTC is going to go to zero.  maybe your 5 year outlook is something like this.

less than $10 -   50-60 % chance
$10 to $100 about 20-30% chance
$100 to $200 5-10% chance
$200 to $300 5-10% chance
$300 to $500 <5% chance
$500+ < 2% chance

If your viewpoint is something like the above chart, then what you are saying makes sense; however, I believe that the second chart that I made is overly pessimistic about the future prospects of Bitcoin, even though each person is entitled to his/her own view point and outlook regarding BTC.

I'm far from pessimistic in regards to bitcoins potential success.
The main thing I was pointing out is you mentioned that 10-50BTC is obtainable for a lot more ordinary people and to me that seems very high. I don't believe there are that many people that have $11,000 laying around that they can invest into bitcoin. Your lower target of 10BTC, I can see that being obtainable by a lot of people... I buy a set amount of BTC every month, no matter the exchange rate and this investment approach works better for my finances.

Look at the huge uptick on the 29th where bears(or a bear whale) shorted at $320. A very similar move in the opposite direction happened earlier today. Looks to me like a certain bear whale just got pwned by the mega bull rally.  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Classic bouncing off the T-line while we ride the upper bands. Good time to buy back in ladies.

Might be time to get one of these.

Actually it's great desk decor.
I own an Eli Harvey Vagabond Bear ... extremely limited. Picked it up at a garage sale for $5 bucks.

he also showed up in april 2014 when the bear market really started going for it.

i am still burnt from that tbh

edit: btw it's not a rumor. this is crypto we're talking about! check his signed message, i clicked through twice and found 40,000 coins: https://blockchain.info/address/19Mz2o9RDABT74SA9njZqMtJXKEzj2qUoH
Yea I remember that, I don't remember if he signed proof for 100K though?
