Hmm...Let's just assume Apple gets 1% per Transaction...that means 60.000$ transactions / year gets them about the same money as an iphone...i don't know anyone who spends 5k / year with credit card...

LOL really? That's only $416 a month. I know plenty of people who spend that much and put it on the credit card. EASILY.

$400 before noon! (fingers crossed)

Yea, it sucks. These times you either forget about bitcoin for a while and hodl, or try to play the game until us long term bulls can prevail again. It will take bitcoin time to mature and not be so easily manipulated by the large bearwhales. When billions-trillions come in, they will be washed up on the beach.  Cheesy

Looking at the charts after the run up to 450, we have hit the low of around 340 twice. Is that a sign of another run up? Or are we going down to 270 again?

I wonder what the "significant uptick" in price would be if it were to happen? $10k? I do believe to price has been pushed down by someone on purpose to get in at a lower price. Could be a crazy weekend coming up.

As long as there is mining to prove bitcoin's work and the blockchain. There will be a 'bear bubble', I think there is a total of 3250 btc that needs to be sold daily for miners to return their electricity pay.

That's $692,250 a day at current prices. 24hr volume is $17mil. Please research your statements.

I hear you brother

To play devil's advocate, I can honestly say that the price is going nowhere without a 'push' higher from some high net worth people.  It certainly won't come from Joe Public, as all they have to do is look at a 15 month old price chart and go "Eh, oh hell no!  No sign of life, and might still be falling further."

We need an uptrend to show on the charts for many more months, maybe a year, before Joe Public starts to take interest again.  Or we need a surprise pump that catches people off-guard (like in 2011, and Jan 2013).

Sad but true.

I see where you are coming from, we have to break the trend of 2xxs-300 in a couple months to start the "healthy growth" phase. All it takes is a (few) big buys and we could be on our way up. Or we could just sit here in limbo and see another flash crash... Either way, exciting summer ahead I think. Smiley

There are no trades because the BIT shareholders still cannot sell their shares, at any price.  (I wonder if those brokers who put up the 40$ bids are aware of that.)  Patience, the carrier turtles are on their way.

If I were a cynical person I would say that BIT is stalling on purpose (since last October) because they know that there will be a stampede as soon as they open the gates.  But I am not a cynical person, at least not always.
I completely forgot that, thanks for the reminder. I would agree BIT may be stalling on purpose..

I don't believe in TA's but things are not necessarily bearish in my opinion. As predicted earlier in this thread (also visible on the chart) May's the time. Not long before we see some real action; do you really think that we're going down after 1 year of decline? The way I see it, bears are running out of time... buy now or get burnt.  Cool

To me it seems like they are stalling.  Either way this spring has been coiling for almost a week now and the price is going to explode one way or another.

I think something is stalling the price and keeping it down for Gemini/etf/bitlicense.

I would call a for sure bull market once we clear 300 and are steadily going up +$3 a day. This could just be another pump and dump. $220s-$240s isn't much of a run, even though it's more upward momentum than we've seen in a while. Pavlov's gotten me, and I'm sure a lot of others ready to dump.

Most likely bottoming below $9 and $850. The lowest possible for gold in the $600s.

We have a bounce here in BTC and PMs, then headed for lower lows, which means < $150 for BTC and probably double-digits  Shocked

Hmmm you're probably right & I'm saying that as a 'bulltard'. BTC is a long game any way, anybody who wants to make serious money is going to have to HODL for years. I'm willing to wait 15-20 years if I have to, I'm in my late 20's I have time on my side. 300 will feel like a big milestone if we can get over it & stay over it.
I still see anything below 300 as very cheap coins. Anybody who doesn't invest now will feel like I did missing out in 2011-12.

I agree, I'm a long term bull also, but we could see fireworks if we get over $300 for a good amount of time, especially if Gemini would get their shit together.

Price correction down.
Price artificially held down, waiting for large scale economic crisis, accumulation phase for bitcoin manipulators.
Price pump as crisis hits critical point, world jumps in, bitcoin seen as safe haven from economic collapse. Btc=$5-6 figures.
Price continues to pump through halving, economies integrate currency backed by bitcoin. Btc=$5-7 figures.

$326 now, seems like the price rise has suddenly halted for a bit. Looks like major dumping is looming or not?

Past couple days have seen a dump and recovery during the western prime time, followed by another increase when the east wakes up. Maybe it will be the same? testing $300-$315.

That's what I really hope is going on... I mean hell, earlier this morning I saw it go down $7 in a matter of a minute or two... I feel that maybe we'll be alright after all now that I think about it more.

There will be corrections from a rise. Look how much we've gone up all green lately without a big drop down, we haven't seen this in a long time. Minor $10 corrections aren't much in Bitcoin.

Look away for a day for Halloween gigs and partying and come back to see an ugly (but luckily rare these days) red candle. How unsightly.

flash dumps finex

There's been a dump on Bitstamp, OKcoin, and some other exchanges too. I thought China would pump when it woke up, but it's dumping. It could be just profit taking, or it could be headed back down. The possibility of that Ponzi scheme dumping is giving me the jitters at every dip.

We're up since Saturday, last 12 hours or so has been averaging a move up..

It appears that way... bulls turning to bears and talking down in hopes of buying in at lower prices. That's how tarmi's and kwukducks are created. Sure, we may have some dips here and there, but why would this end now? A day before the auction? Mid-week? Why not a weekend dump? The way I look at it, I have held this long, why sell now? I'm not thinking about selling until we're past the old ATH. This rise has been violent, but that 2 year down trend wasn't pretty either.  We're heading to a new ath by the halving, and I wouldn't be surprised if we tested the old one before 2016.

Can't go vertical 'till the masses start buying in en masse.
The masses can't buy in until they have large money available in a venue in which they can trade.
Masses wont have money in such a venue until the 'signup/KYC/AML' process runs its course.
Signup process takes 1-2 weeks after opening account.
Masses will not open account until FOMO.
Masses won't FOMO until news of rise is omnipresent.
News of rise will not be ubiquitous until ATH.
ATH not until..... next week?

Net: If we can sustain this rally until ATH, the real fireworks will happen 2-4 weeks after that.

Yeah - boom.

I think the market manipulator is just feeling the end of his reign coming soon. Sure, he can easily pump and dump it now, but once more and more professional traders, and more buyers (bitcoin users) come in, the less his dumping will have on the market. It (they) are probably accumulating through manipulation until the inevitable unstoppable rise of the vertical portion of the "s" curve on bitcoin's price. There's only one way to go when everyone wants one.

Price from here to the next week will be at the same time before the pump (between 210$-230$) not more. But hope that price will only rise !

Which is the reason of this strong decrease?

If we do drop to 200s, it's because the whales want to shake out the very last week hands before the halving.

Who knows, maybe we'll see the EW'ers final capitulation to $150 for a true double bottom, and then moving to $4k-$10k by halving. Wild ride.

Either way, I'll buy more if we drop, or hold with what I have now if we continue up from here. That's all you can do. It's up to the whale now.

Any prediction about the price in 2 months? Going up or going down?

Does anyone have a legitimate argument that bitcoin will be worth less.... halving, easier entry into markets.... those two things alone.. nobody is selling and only more people will be buying and only so many seats at the table

just hope you aren't left holding your pecker

you're damn right I'll be holding my pecker watching the charts in the future with the next bubble, highly enjoying myself.

Yea, it's not amateur hour anymore, that's why I've stopped trading and just hold. Obvious things are bluffs to toss your salad.

TA is useless whether the market is rigged or not. It's by chance that your TA turns out correct. It's the fuckin astrology of markets

I like being wrong so I can learn.
But.. I know that most financial institutions don't use TA, they stick with FA. I understand how TA works, and I can see the math (engineer here), but unfortunately Bitcoin has a lot of bad TA done, not naming even h&s correctly. TA is all very interesting and I believe it can *help* when trading, but it is not in any way fool-proof.. Actually, there's a lot of fools  Cheesy

I tend to disagree, Bitcoin due to its juvenile and emotional aspects is way more easier to TA than any other markets.
Just zoom out the <2h candles and you'll have very good signals.

However the most over hyped TA geo pattern (like H&S) just sucks. But lines never lies haha.

I was referring to the trash TA put out by Bitcoin traders, not using TA on Bitcoin itself.

9554 Bitcoin Belonging To ISIL Seized By Hactivists

Kopp Online, a German news website, has just published an article which mentioned that Ghost Security Group hactivists have managed to control a bitcoin address related to ISIL and were able to lock out 9554 bitcoins that were going to be used to spread terror all around the world.[ ... ]

My take on what happened:

A couple of days ago, hackers from Anonymous claimed to have located an address belonging to IS with 3 M USD worth of bitcoins in it.

The German Kopp reporter read that announcement, and either misread that word as locked (sperrte?), or just assumed that the authorities had promptly called the CEO of Bitcoin and told him to freeze that account.

The NewsBTC owner/writer saw that German report and changed the locked to seized (which is the usual term for that thing in bank contexts).

Bitcoin ceo huh?
Locking an address huh?

$600-$700 before the end of Jan imo

That really would be something, as soon as late January though?

Maybe as we near the halving but I'm not sure if I think late January is realistic.

It's not out of reach, greed and fomo are a funny thing. At the time of the  the halving, we may verywell all be in shock.

So you were previously bullish on some blind hope that such a man destroyed/lost his keys? The market hates uncertainty.

there are lots of reasons to be bullish imo, but i would prefer it to see those coins stuck vs seeing them in 2020...

1000000 is less than the amount of coins produced this year. I doubt he'd dump them all at once. 2020 would be a good hear to end a 4 year bull run though. Smiley

I think there is a lot of time between now and then. A lot will change and I don't think what you are fearing will happen.

Good AM Bitcoinland.

Still hovering around $430 I see. Another quiet weekend.

Meanwhile it's a gorgeous spring day in downtown Toronto, a patio day if there ever was one.

Time to get out and make some vitamin D. Too bad the Jays are in Boston. Otherwise I'd be soaking up some rays in the SkyDome with the roof open.

Used to spend a lot of my childhood summer going from London to Toronto and watching the Jay's play. Best hot dogs there.
