Agreed.  The difference between now and the April bubble burst is that the public have now heard about bitcoin, with plenty of articles in the mainstream media about the price, ATMs, Silk Road, ebay, etc etc.  There's way too much interest now for the price to fall back to $100, I reckon. Hopefully.

We'll see double digits again, don't worry.
Sure like 1122 or 1133.

What is going on with Bitstamp ? Aren't they reporting anything for the past ~4 hours or was their trading engine really down ?

Bitstamp is tired with craziness of gox, Europeans don't have that much buying power I guess.
Also arbitrage with gox is nearly impossible on the short run so no one bothers rallying
If you check Gox the EUR ATH is 519 USD  so...

Not all, but most of the stash I bought @ 350 Euro!
Exit price was 495 and 510 Euro. Sold a little bit before the top.

would you bet on that ?

I did the second I sold.

Just check my trades during this crash. My bets were not perfect. But good. Probably much better then most bulls did.
A few trades today are missing from today. Just copied the trades from another post of me.

My XBT Withdrawal made yesterday was held back and this evening I was blocked from RMB and XBT withdrawals. (My account reflects my balances but withdrawals are frozen for now.)
Crikey...that doesn't sound too good.
So, any reason from your end that may have happened?
I'm getting worried that the next time I log in I'm going to get a 404 and this lot will have disappeared with a stack of coins.

Not sure I have 3 accounts with the same e-mail domain and cell number, and a few failed RMB withdrawals otherwise low volume and no pump and dump behavior I am sure it will be sorted tomorrow (I have a mandarin employee looking into it so I will have an answer tomorrow.)
Best of luck.
I just emailed them again but they seem to have me on 'ignore' now.
Gutted.
I guess it helps if you use QQ and can type in Chinese.

So what happened is my RMB transfer was reversed, so I bought more XBT (hey it was on sale).

I then tried to withdraw the XBT, and my account was frozen.  After chatting with QQ support, they tell me the RMB transfer was successful and I must now sell my XBT to cover the previous RMB withdrawal that was reported as failed.  Problem is XBT is selling @ RMB 200 below where I bought in. Anyway my account is still frozen and I can’t do anything so next update tomorrow.

This could be a glitch in there system, or happening to others.

So it's very special now to call BTC xbt liek fancy exchanges in USM?

Why would people sit in fiat when there was a lot of time to buy <550

In my case the fiat got to the exchange some hours too late.

Well i was mainly talking about people who've sold higher.
...or they sold on 1200 bought on 550 and sold again on 770 and they are waiting for new sub 600?

here's a beautiful clip from those 80's b-car times

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-PZ5J3GLSYI

Sweet Smiley As elegant as late 60's F1 and it probably took even more guts. 80's F1 was mad stuff too, Renault had over 1100bhp and where using second hand road car engine blocks to do it and the Peugeot in that clip is getting a similar output from a road car block. Take the power figures for group B with a pinch of salt too, they where all lying through their teeth about output figures (it was traditional, mini coopers where near double the official 69bhp). Another family friend in Dubai drove/navigated for Lancia, the Delta's where putting out over 1000bhp at that stage and they where caught a few times with extinguishers full of nitrous plumbed in to boost that figure.
Peugeot 405 T16 they made only 200 road legal cars just so they could compete with it. Friend of mine owns 3 of those. 4x4 280 hp with overboost, crazy cars!

if you think that hoarding is bad, then I think you should give away not only all crypto but all fiat money too. maybe then you will understand what you don't get so far.

There is a big difference between houses, goods, fiat and crypto currencies.

Crypto is in the early adoption phase -> we need to activily use it to make it accepted. If all the miners in 2009 had only hoarded bitcoin, we wouldn't be here with a price @ nearly 1000$. I think you didn't get it so far.

Without utility nothing gains any value. And if ALL are hoarding, it's not going to work.

If everybody would hold -> who could buy new coins? Noone?
You are hoarding to get an advantage, you wan't your part of the big share and holding to it like a maniac.

@ mizar:
I probably have a few factors more invested in crypto than you. If you hold more than 100 btc or similar value in any other altcurrency, I won't say anything. But you probably are one of the pigs with 0.05 bitcoin.
You just don't have the balls to hodl.

I have 3 btc holdings.
1: Mining -> steadily increasing -> nothing sold and won't sell anything
2. Speculation -> Selling high, buying low -> can afford to lose all
3. Hodling -> paper wallet -> won't sell anything below 10000$, then start partially selling (btc amount % decrease, so I'll ever hodl some amount, even if btc reaches 1 billion dollars)

I'm still convinced that if nobody used btc to buy drugs, pizzas or anything else, we wouldn't be here. Only hodling doesn't help.
It work probably for the small hodler with 0.01 btc, because he doesn't have a significant influence on the market. These people (or more likely kids) are dreaming of cars and girls ... they are just scumbugs trying to profit without doing anything. Like parasites.

Cool story bro.

These things need to be said and addressed though, and it's not like we're gonna have some 1st world Robin Hood come and catch us up to speed.

Harsh but true tho:

The average monthly salary in South America does not buy a single Bitcoin.
The average monthly salary in Africa does not buy 1/4 Bitcoin (and this is being good because of SouthAfrica significantly increasing the buying power).
The average monthly salary in India does not buy 1/10 Bitcoin.

Everyone, please, as reference: How many BTC can you buy with 1 months pay where you live?

If my sad experience is any guide, there will first be an explosion upwards, so that everyone will start buying into it, followed by a dump and a lot of panic-selling...

So be it!

I am a miner last three years. I had to sell at some point, had to sell at 10$ few times, sold more than 500 btc in these 3 years, bank loans, just life I have job my wife didn't we had to sell. So I feel bearish not bullish as a miner.

Rumors. And bullshit

You're just pissed you don't have any more negative China "rumors and bullshit" to post.

Why should I post more FUD? (facts u dislike?)

I've already said everything there need to be said. Now we wait

btw, I get real-time news update from China from about 25 sources, so that's why I said bullshit

Because you said that you loved posting those topics, which makes you a dick IMO.  That's great that you get some BS Chinese news feeds.  Whats even better is that you can't even read Chinese and rely on Google translate when a number of native Chinese speakers have warned that doing so is quite dumb.

Edit:  And using "facts u dislike" for FUD is almost as stupid as "hodl", neither of which earns the user respect in my book.
You have no book and I'll keep hodling.

Just buy BTC. To me, all altcoins are a scam Grin

LTC is a scam ?

LTC is for people riding old Bicycles. Dont.

BTC is for people riding nice cars. Do.

I made a shit load of money investing in Litecoin, I bought at $0.17 last year, sold at $38 and bought back at $20.... and I invested the last Bitcoins I had into Litecoin this week. so how about that Smiley so tell the car and the Bicycles thing to someone else...because this year we will be talking yachts with Litecoin.
Yeah you enjoyed the LTC bubble, got crazy about it and now you will enjoy the fall of the LTC/BTC rate. At least you are honest to say you bought back at 20$, you don't fool us saying you bought at 9$ or whatever. I did read your analysis about litecoin being better distributed etc. That is all bullshit, Bitcoin is where things happens, it is Bitcoin you hear about on TV, and it is extremely foolish to go full LTC. You understand nothing about the network effect of money, you know nothing about the thinking process of Wall Street guys, you are just a tech who arrived early in Bitcoin, made a shitload of money and now are fooling yourself about your understanding of finance, economy and money. I can tell you why Wall Street guys will never invest in LTC but may in Nxt and 95%+ sure will in Bitcoin. But i prefer enjoy reading your posts pumping LTC.

It happened in the past with different pools and nothing happened. I really thought this time was behind us. How the hell did p2pool not take off? Come on, this community should be technically competent enough ...

p2pool is pretty neat and I used it a bit until all my equipment became obsolete. It has more variance than some people like though.

No, this is worrisome. They should have taken action by now to drop below 48% to reassure the markets.
If they keep growing some miners might decide to sell a large % of their hoarded stash, just to hedge against future large drops.

they've likely had >51% for some time now, probably just decided to come clean

Solution is to run away from ghash.io and not be to greedy for couple of extra bucks from theirs no fee and merged mining.
A solution that involved the need for human beings to not be greedy is not a viable and realistic solution.

Where did you get that gif from? But you're right, I also don't think that this weekend is going to give us prices above $ 600... At least not significant bumps up. I'll be content if we stay in the $ 590s or even $ 580s...

What are you talking about?  I was responding to the previous post.

My independent observation is ltc is up 90% from 2-3 days ago when it was $3.60

Now is $6.08  you do what you want, buy, sell, trade.  I think it is a falling knife since it is being disconnected from btc the last 3-4 months.  People are bailing out of most alt coins actually.
And that is the right thing to do... bail now... from altcoins I mean...

Possible inverse head and shoulders pattern. Watch for a breakout out if it crosses the $520 neckline.  I won't be too happy about it, as I'm still mostly sitting in fiat. It's better to sit in a lambo than a Fiat.

It's better to sit in a Fiat than to have to walk, too.   Especially, if you are carrying any luggage with you.

Here in the US, it works almost the same way, except that professors and Universities are paid indirectly through the Federal Student Loan program. So the government straps 18 year-olds with no job and no income with tens of thousands of dollars in debt, Universities raise tuition and expand at ridiculous rates thanks to this free money, and graduates get to compete in an absolutely shitty job market while making loan payments for 30 years.

Academia must be nice.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ww4m8GUK69E

yes, the irony, the US government pays billions of dollars to export "freedom" to other countries with their war machine, their citizen are blindly patriotic to the point where they believe killing a child is OK to prevent a future "terrorist", a "terrorist" that I would call a freedom fighter.... they called Nelson Mandela a terrorist for decades, they've called the Algerian revolution in 1954 an act of terrorism.....

it is sad how most Americans have no clue about what is really going around the world, and still think that USA is the greatest country in the world and the land of "freedom", when most of their follow citizen still struggles and cant get the basics of a free education and health care.
This! What Mariborac says.

I think the whale is trying to create some momentum, take the price down as people panic sell thinking we're resuming the bear trend, and then pump back up and get cheap coins.

If someone did not trust bitcoin, he would have sold loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo-oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo-oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong time ago at a higher price.

Perhaps this would cause some lessening of buying in the Chinese markets. But then it would also cause less selling in the Western markets. Net effect = 0, imo, but I'm no expert and would love a second opinion.

Long term this is bearish for the dollar. It will contribute to the fall of the Petrodollar and the rise of the Renimbi to full reserve currency status.
As the recent fall in BTC is inversely correlated to USD strength, this is possibly bullish for BTC as we may see the USD turn around on this news. The cynic in me thinks this may actually explain part of the recent run-up in the dollar ... a pump and dump by the big players with insider knowledge.
Interesting times.
Yes, very. Timing's interesting too, Japanese and European markets are falling and look like they're gaining momentum and the props are shaking on US markets. Any thought's on the change of head at PBOC?

some say that that $ may reach parity with the € by year's end.

Fun if you can get it where you are (not sure if it's easy outside the UK).  But some interesting interviews including Karpeles.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b09tdyjz

Karpeles under Japanese Bankruptcy law could make millions, even after settlement...

http://fortune.com/2017/11/11/karpeles-mt-gox-profitable-bankruptcy/

what a cluster that would be "I'm back!"

Is that an old picture of him? I thought the fat bastard had lost weight while he was in jail. Don't tell me he's already put it all back on again.

no clue..the smile will be the same...if under Japanese Bankruptcy law he gets a portion of his hoard back IN BITCOIN.....(ie property)
