Reloading at the 200 day SMA support--who's ready for some fireworks this weekend?

look at the blue line, that's the 200 day SMA.



SMA means "simple moving average". It's the average of the last 200 datapoints. So with daily resolution it shows the average of the last 200 days. Hence "200 day SMA".

It has been resistance or way above for the last year and we broke through it recently. Now it might act as support, as many hope.

If it does, the tides may be turning.

I'm used to seeing these types of pump and dump phases with almost every shitcoin that was ever invented, on a daily basis in some altcoin exchanges, so it makes it so much hilarious to read some of the garbage people are posting in here. Bitcoin will remain for many years to come nothing but a pump and dump scheme, but on a larger scale. It moves slower than Titanic and unless you have hundreds/thousands of BTCs that you are willing to trade, you'd be better off trading some altcoins. When people say that no one can control bitcoins price and it's not decentralized, I feell like they are talking shit.

If someone have over 500 btc, they can easily manipulate the market in their advantage, imagine if someone have more than 500 btc, imagine 5000 btc.

oritey, hows things. hope you made sum gd $$ in past few weeks. we worked hard to get to $500 and the truth is, lack of buy support ( 100k btc dump wipes off around $100 in value   ). Think about it like this...if btc goes to $2000 and with 14mill coins circulating, how much money would be required daily to keep the price at that level?  we had to build up enough support at $400-$500 to allow most of us out with gd profit. btc is not going to moon again, but it will have some gd swings from $350 to $200 for next few weeks. Prepare for major dump near end of the month ( black friday ) and a $150 btc price is very likely by end of the yr.
also okcoin got hacked today, we will see how that has an effect on price.

Well, you should ask them.  They seem to believe that it would make bitcoin more attarctive or valuable.  I myself don't see why.

What I can see is that Blockstream will profit (or thinks that it will profit) if e-commerce uses of bitcoin get pushed to off-chain solutions, like the Lightning network; because their business plan seems to be to provide software tools for such off-chain services (like the Liquid inter-exchange settlement tool that they just announced).

Perhaps the e-commerce traffic that will not fit in the Bitcoin blockchain will be picked up by Viacoin, the altcoin created by Core developer BTCDrak, which has hired Peter Todd as CTO.

If they were to authorize such reversal based on a technical glitch or a hacker, that would probably be a more justifiable reason.  

I'm going to attempt to communicate with them about honoring my trade (even if they personally have to absorb the cost (mine had been filled and subsequently reversed at merely in the mid $370s... those fuckers), and if they do not side with me, then I am likely going to discontinue using their services and pull my bitcoins (and fiat) from their exchange.

I went all-in a leveraged short at 308 several days ago. And watched it go up to 350. But my conviction that it will retract to 270 is rock solid. I simply know it. Call me Nostradamus.

If it goes above 370 I am wiped out. But I won't mind since its a small sum of money I am already determined to loose. I don't take bitcoin speculation seriously.

Be patient, gravity works all the time. Only thing that can bring it much higher is yet another pump. Large or small. And likelihood of another pump to 370+ is not small. But smaller than it going below 300.

Remember - bitcoin price doesn't reflect anything. Not yet. At the moment its just blowing in winds of speculation.

Bitcoin is not for real traders, because its price can be manipulated severely (and easily) by a single person or a single pump&dump group. Therefore it is almost pointless to do any analysis and there is little or no added value for your time and work doing this analysis. You might as well hold forever or sell and never come back.

Fractal behavior of the markets has always seemed very "organic" to me. It's based in mathematics (the language of nature) and has not had much time to become very "perverted" and uber manipulated like precious metals. Don't think there's a clear consensus among traders (that I keep track of) where this is heading, mid-term -- some expect a more serious correction before moving higher, some expect more upwards rather soon. One thing that I don't hear or see much (and don't really believe myself) is an extended flat period. Unfortunately, maybe, but the last swing up was so violent, I think it's more likely that it's staying volatile for the next month(s).
