Its almost certainly just a photoshop (and a very easy one to make), so yes.
My first thought when I saw the picture is that it looks more like shag carpet than a field of crops.

I thought exactly the same than you.

Yes, photoshop

somebody posted a link to the audio stream of coming capitol hearing for monday here. (beware of brainmelting test tone! http://www.capitolhearings.org/Hearing/SSGA00201311181500/dirksen342.aspx)

Is there possibly a live video stream or am I expecting too much from technical advanced America?

How can I live stream a hearing?

All of the committee hearings are live streamed through this website. To access the stream, go to the webpage of the hearing you are interested in. You can find a list of upcoming hearings here. The live stream will begin at the start of the hearing. If you do not see a video window, try refreshing your browser five minutes prior to the scheduled start of the hearing.

got a KNC Jupiter I expected to make ROI in a lesiurey fashion in say 9 months to 1 year...as I expected hype to slow down etc more equip etc.....mad ROI in 25 days
started mining oct 18th I think coin then was around $150

Does that include your power consumption?

heh power consumption being really really optimistic and selling at 600 bucks BTC at www.mtgox.com  minus the $7,131.80 USD I spent w/shipping (and not counting power supply)for the KNC Jupiter i have....I'm under those more then rosy conditions at 21 coins @$12,600 USD....minus $7131.80 that is $5,468.20 ahead and I'll have been mining 1 month tomorrow 11/18 as of 8:30pm CST USA.....as for electric it is a bit less then 100 bucks I think around 80 bucks but call it 100 cause I've been home a lot babysitting miner and giggling so more use on other computers and such this month

of course it will all go boom and I will probably be looking at 1/2 ROI on Monday after the U.S. House hearings ...or some such bad news...but hey that works too for 1 month of mining I have a Jupiter hashing 555gh consistent ..just put the new firmware on now 0.99 its hashing at around 564gh consistent....

heh been a good nite for me at least in the delusions of my own mind (yeah we are all insane it is only real variable that is constant in all this)

Searing

How about spend $7K in bitcoin @$100 when you order the KNC ?
70*600 = $42K
Better no ?

There is obviously a strongly negative feeling in this forum against Huobi and OKCoin, and very warm feelings about BTC-China. People keep claiming that Huobi's volume is fake (even though strong evidence of fakery has been shown only at other exchanges); and seem very happy that BTC-China is back in business (even though it will be just another Chinese-only(?) exchange).

May I ask why this bias? Personal reasons, or some technical features that I cannot see?

What is happening is that BTCChina has recently instituted a reward for market-making (google market-maker). This means that a whale can set huge buy and sell orders very close to each other and make money off of others buying and selling into them. This happens on Wall Street all the time, and now Bobby Lee has actually incentivized it. It's a genius move in my opinion, it reduces volatility and increases liquidity.

Now a bot that hasn't taken this recently-added incentive into account is buying and selling into the market-making bots' orders. I am not surprised they found a bot to exploit, BTCChina has been dead for a while. It's probably running off a formula based on volume and its own volume is tricking it into buying and selling. The bot is slowly losing a lot of money though, when the owner wakes up in the morning he will be pissed lol.

And the major risk and what i think happend now is a Information asymmetry
Someone has inside news and play around

The worst case scenario, and I'm talking a complete cockup, FUD-tastic, super duper media rage scenario is that BTC goes down to $100 for a year

That's the worst case scenario? I think that'd be pretty good for BTC's long term success. It offers buying opportunity for everyone, it implies stability, it looks less like a "tulip bubble" to all those armchair economists and it would allow for real world applications to develop more easily.

Impossible !

I have some buy orders in the low 500's but am seriously thinking about cancelling them now, I'm new to bitcoin, discovered it in December, but frankly, it's beginning to look like a joke now and I have other places to invest if this is going to drag on and on with no obvious change in sentiment on the horizon.

Amazed by the amount of people saying they don't use 2FA.

Seriously guys, WTF? How difficult is to download Google Auth on your phone and to set up the 2FA on your exchange account?

Why do you try so hard to be the low-hanging fruit and thus to be hacked?

WHY???

I guess i'm not the only one who worries about losing the phone and doesn't really know how to keep backups of the 2FA stuff properly.

Very easy

When you scan the QR the first time, you have a string of letters above the QR
Just write that on a paper on .txt -- truecrypt -- done
Same with a QR picture or screen --- truecrypt -- done

And if you forget to do this first time  just stop 2AF then enable again, should be the same QR code popping, just SAVE IT

Do you have any proof of sending 50k to mtgox? This is not speculation is throwing money off the window. You might win, but still it's stupid to do.

Did you make that deposit today and got it in instantly?
Yes I made this today and it should arrive tomorrow based on my previous transactions. It takes about 1 business day for money to arrive.

Well done. You will probably buy more than 500 BTC with that amount.. If Gox can pull their shit together you will be looking at a huge instant profit.

In other news: my concern is not Gox being insolvent "because they lost the coins". My concerns is they are in VERY deep shit for various reasons and funds might be stuck in there for very long.

EUR withdrawals still worked you say? Only smallish ones and VERY slowly. When it takes 6 weeks to process a fiat withdrawal, then something VERY bad is happening. I mean... If I tell to my bank to do a 300k transfer, they do it immediately, and in max. 2/3 days the money arrives to the account where I sent it. If they have to wait WEEKS to be able to send the money, then there is a serious problem somewhere. They won't tell us what is the problem and they make up BS excuses about their "huge volume" overwhelming the banks. In my book, that's very worrying.
From what I understand their bank account has limits of say 200k EUR per day. That means waiting queue. They may be incompetent dealing with the legal issues, (e.g 5m USD frozen in US) and are stuck with these low limit bank accounts. I can see mtgox slowly losing it's market share due to their inability to take care of these issues, but as long as they're not arrested (and I do realize this is a risk so I try to limit my exposure to any exchanges) they will keep pumping funds out slowly, but surely imo. Long story short I don't believe Mark has some evil masterplan to run off with all the btc, nor do I believe they are insolvent. They just can't deal with the "real world".

I am of this opinion as well.  I think incompetence is driving this situation more than anything else.

Please care to explain how do you see the difference ?

From outside, just no way, same symptom for both
Don't get me wrong it's my bet also but before more information both are correct working hypothesis

I guess Mark can sell his real BTC on other exchanges and buy a lot of Mtgox BTC to cover the loss. He can easily double or even triple his BTC holding in this way. I don't think his loss will be more than 1/3 of his holding.

It's one of the multiple possible plot for all this story.

Malleability bug == missing bitcoin, let's say 10K

Mark sold 1500BTC from gox treasory  @$900

Buy back 11K @ $100/$200

No more missing BTC

Wrong, first of all there was no showing of negative balance or anything like that till todays morning.

The bank has to suffer some loss too. Its their mistake in the first place.

sorry lol, if you mistakenly receive some money and spend them / lose them, you are still responsible for the loss. maybe bank will be unable to recover and have to eat it, but you cannot seriously be proposing that gambling away money credited in error is somebody elses reponsibility??

So the bank goes scot free for its error? In my book the bank has to pay a fine too.

In the situation at hand it seems bitcoinbuilder is simply washing its hands off and the entire liability is on Magicmexican.

Problem is, i was not trading with anything "extra", all my trades in the past days were correct. But today when i logged in my acc, my balance was fucked up, i had more goxcoins than i had(not a ton more, just more), plus a pretty big negative "real btc" balance, and then Josh said that "the only way to get rid of it is to either deposit more real btc or sell goxbtc" - but even by selling 100% of my goxbtc i would still be in the negative, so i sent him another email, pressing the issue and saying that this is a fucking joke. And only after that email he took a part of my goxbtc to get rid of the negative balance. (Which i also did not like, because it looked like he was trying to put everything on me to see how i would react first)

I am still doing some calculations, but i think i ended up paying for their technical fuck up anyway. So thats that.

This gets murkier by the minute. Do post your results here after the calculations.

Basically it seems they added some goxbtcs into your account at a higher price than the current. That is completely on them, then.

The suggestion that i should have sold all my goxbtc to still have ~ -1realbtc negative balance was the worst part. I hope it was a mistake by them to even suggest that.

It's possible if you bought yesterday... or worst, the day before, or worst, last week.
In fact anytime before now

Hi- just a thought... If Bitcoin has a year or two, then whatever is going to replace it, then it must already be around right now.... so which coin is it? and what does it do that is going to make it out compete Bitcoin in your opinion?

I tend to think that The digital currency hasn't been created yet. I'm still waiting for a team with proper funding and experience to enter this field. The potential is too big for single hobbyists.

I was wondering if you would say that...so in a year, or two a currency that does not even exist yet, is going to be created, launched, mined, gain popularity and out-trade Bitcoin in the next 52 to 104 weeks, a coin that literally does not exist now..  interesting thought...

What will it do that will make it able to grow this fast and this well that any coins cannot do at present? and even if it is a great coin, can you explain how you think it will grow the network in such a rapid time?

Well this is number 4 on coinmarketcap right now.

I think it's a technical issue, not a legal one. They almost certainly also have legal problems, but I don't think the loss of access to coins is a legal issue.

Please, clear it to me.

From this we can see that the original addresses where MtGox proved they had the private keys (a few year backs) are still untouched . This probably means that Gox doesn't have direct access to them.  if the 750K is to be believed.

I doubt Mark has lost the keys, so I can believe they have been 'off limits' by order of the US government, who is investigating Silk Road.
And each time someone verifies a dodgy account, the US government checks them out.
So maybe some of the  BTC is not lost, just inaccessible (as Mark said in IRC).
But no more info from Mark because of a Gag Order.

-But some facts would be nice Smiley

The wallets belonging to Gox that people have found so far (containing about 550k BTC) have not been touched since 2011.

This is what's happend when more people come with bitcoins than people want withdrawals them

There is NOT even a date on that page... but I suppose that there will be a correlation with other records... and then within GOX there are a lot of records of various transactions and trandes that may have taken place between the date of the deposit and the date of the closing of the exchange.  HOWEVER, I am confident that ONLY a small portion of GOX customers went through the effort to save those various pages of electronic data (even though there were several weeks in which that saving of pages could have been done (between the time of the discontinuance of withdrawals until the time of the shutting off  of the website)..

Gox went down with his 1200 BTC. He was not seen here since he said how much he lost there. Serious shit.

Some guy reported 4200 BTC Gox loss. Shit.

Actually, even though some people take risks in their investments and their hopes that businesses and persons are acting with  a certain level of integrity, sometimes the risks are kind of anticipated....... ... and like everyone says, the best time to invest is when others are running away from that investment....... .... ...

YES>>> >> the blood of a lot of people will boil... when they read the level of admissions of loss or theft that occurred through GOX....... it is really bullshit and it still does NOT add up... that anything other than fraud was going on at some level..... which actors are responsible??? probably a few people besides Mark...   .. even though the buck stopped with Mark.

My $666 resistance came into play perfectly. ($660)

That's probably all for a couple weeks now.

I think you might be misreading the market right now. We will fall back eventually, sure, but we're trading at around 655 right now with the highest volume since the 400 bottom, and you think we won't see 660 again for weeks? I doubt that.

And Gox may still have many of the coins - rumor is that the gooberment confiscated them.

LOL, how do you state such a BIG FACT (or rumor) in such a "small" way??
Occam's razor

A leak in a cold wallet for 2 years or SR shitstorm hitting gox and DHS involved.

Not difficult to understand why they would confis all privates keys : huge amount of btc from SR was on MtGox and they didn't take the risk. Bitcoin is sooo easy to move in a blink of eye !

Yes, I am certain that at least Bitstamp does business with people in the US. It would probably be wise to decline US customers in the future until they register with FinCEN, but I expect nothing out of Bitcoin exchanges.
Talking more about US global power, what could be the levrage on stamp from US gov ?
A lot of compagny doesnt have the FINCEN agrement but make business with american.

Don't get me wrong i agree with you, i don't trust exchange as it's the weak part of the chain
