Very.  Large DDOS.

Source? Anyway, this is bullshit, sorry. Some database issues much more likely.

the website sometimes loads.. and then it go's blank again..   looks like a ddos to me..  I hope it's a db issue.. then we can continue without problems when it's fixed..

ddos on the other hand.. -> lagg -> panic sell..

Never a dull day at MtGox HQ. The DDoSers must be milking every last chance before the big exchanges at CoinLab and CoinSetter arrive, and before BitStamp gets bigger. Once there is more than one big exchange, DDoS of any one will have much less effect. Meanwhile the entire system grows stronger every time it is attacked, with the attackers being rewarded for their services in strengthening the system, effectively paving the way for further growth.

Without the attacks that have been occurring at a billion-dollar market cap, Bitcoin wouldn't be ready for the kinds of attacks that will come at ten and a hundred billion dollars.

although i'm loosing probably a lot of fiat now with these attacks..   I agree with this totaly..

They seem to be done for today

How would we know?  Huh
we dont..  but i dont think it's going to be worth  to sell more..  in this market with large numbers..   yes price dropped  but  if you sell 4k coins.. it's realy hard to buy them back cheaper..    although i think they done well this time..

it's always happening when things are "just too good to be true" ..    then dump massive coins..   make some chain event of it . and panic sell starts to happen..  buy low again..

well good for me i burned myself a bit too much on this manipulations buy selling low..  when i'm not at the top of selling.. i just hold coins  most of the time..

if I look back at the past.. if i JuST holded my coins all the time.. i'd be much better of then doing the daytrade game Smiley

Which trick would that have been?
Also: What's this "Black Monday" thing about?

the trick:  big fish sells off coins..     waits for an hour .. just when people think price is stabilizing..   then dump another load..     ppl panic.. and the selling keeps going until there's strong resistance.. big profits for  big player, he buys coins cheaper..

I got a bad feeling that we got a top at 266, crashed, worked our way up to 165, crashed, worked our way up to 147, crashing... What will the next "high" be? 127? and then a new crash... I hope I'm wrong!

Only problem for individual in that scenarios would be if he doesn't capitalize that and finish with more coins. I'd rather have 1000 coins worth 1$ each than 10 coins worth 100$ each in 2 months.

what is the difference? its worth just the same...  or am i missing something here?..

It's astonishing what a little DDOS and an even smaller dump can do

ddos wasnt a ddos.. it was just gox lag..

also..  it's the bigger guys..  just playing with us..

if people would put up more interesting ask offers after a dump.. we would recover much faster.. .. but there's always a lack of interesting asks.. after a dump.. which induces even more selling..

guess who's gonne put ask offers at higher prices when they just bought at lower price? right.. them big dudes..  this cycle seems to be looping over and over again.. until the resistence  seems to stop it.

and now .. we the idiots are going to buy them same coins back at higher price .. and make rich dudes even richer..

Walls are looking pretty healthy. $4M+ of coin or dollars required for a 15% movement in either direction.

Side Note: What the odds the big cats are completely trolling us with this "stability" before they start effing shit up again?  Grin

The problem with that is people are buying, but they aren't holding. They're turning around trying to sell it at a small markup. And it seems the amount of people doing this in the last mini-crash has put up a huge chunk of legitamite asks that make it very slow going if we're going up.
.

wait until uptrend is there again Smiley traders will hold .. it has been down trend for a while..(medium scope)  it doesn't make sense to keep btc as a trader.. wanting to make a quick  profit.. in down trend.

this is my tactic in uptrend:
buy coins... they will increase in value after a week.
lend equal amount of coins .. they will increase in value after a week

when a "little" correction happens.. sell the borrowd coins and short if possible.. .. and get the fiat profit.   at the bottom of the correction.. buy new coins with the fiat profit.

this way I have double profit on the coins I started with.

with downtrend.. I just do the opposite..
so basically it does not matter which way it goes there's always an opportunity.

at this point i'm putting some bid offers at lower price you never know to get lucky to have some cheaper coins..in the weekend dip.

i'm not expecting for new big selloffs to happen so i'm getting my bull hat ready for the coming weeks..  it might take some time but ..  imho.. up is the way to go after consolidation.

I'm a bull in general though..  I like the price to become high enough so the "mainstream" traders with millions at their hands can join the ride.. now the orderbooks are way to thin.
also I just have a "gut feeling" it will go uptrend again , have been right most of the time (90%) it's still a gamble though haha  "this is Bitcoin"

I guess people love Bitstamp to cash out.

But I can confirm: Bitstamp follows Mt.Gox everytime, despite wallsize and anything else.

orderbook to thin on bitstamp.. this is not a real representation .. just watch gox..

the reason why bitstamp follows gox is simple.;  bitfinex is connected to bitstamp.. this means instant arbitrage on bitstamp.

people buying this amount are thinking longer term..  them expect the price to go up in the future. so it's a bullish indicator ... unless it's lended money(and would be a stupid move to make right now).. then it will come down again if price doesn't move up much Smiley

My gut is screaming bull trap, bear market, capitulation, and bear trap all at the same time.

Getting mixed signals here.

Once, when asked about his gut feeling, Carl Sagan said: "I'd really rather not think with my gut, my brain does the job a lot better"  Grin

Don't prodigies and athletes use the least amount of brain power? In fact high level operation has often been (curiously) linked to lower brain activity. Perhaps this has something to do with the subconscious. Anyways, I'm sticking to what I thought 10 or so days ago: downtrend.

Edit: that being said... I'm getting super impatient.

This pretty much sums up the market at the moment. Everyone thinks they will be able to get cheaper coins... but the longer they wait, the less likely that becomes. Once the bids exceed the all time high (not far off), I can see a massive spell of panic buying ensuing.

lol that's what i'm seeing.. people selling below 118   and the ask price sticks to 118, so anyone has to buy them coins back more expensive

i want to buy in but i'd bring price over 120$ with  massive slippage..
put some asks up there people!..

if only bankwires worked faster and during weekend days.. Smiley   hope i'm still fast enough to get cheap coins at bistamp..  wish i put some fiat over there last week.. stupid me!
Don't know about the reasoning but I'm somewhat reassured to see mtgox bid price within a stone's throw away from the others:

mtgoxUSD     119.5     2,170,113   73%
bitstampUSD  117.45      444,120   15%
btceUSD        112.51      293,743   10%
cbxUSD         117             74,132   2%

yeah.. NOW it is Smiley after the 5k selloff Smiley  not so long ago it was 122
it doesnt matter.. i'm in for the long run anyways..

Google trends shows the real interest in Bitcoin.

It was mentioned every few days in the run up to $266 but it's not mentioned so much lately.

Here's why :

it was also mentioned.. that google trends folows the price .. not the other way around

These askwalls and bidwalls seem far too high considering there's such low volume.

I wonder if this is a kind of DOS against Bitcoin itself.

Someone with enough USD and BTC on the exchanges could create an artificial situation like this and pull the plug either way whenever they feel like it.

This. These walls are way too coordinated.

Who would be selling right now, when Bitcoin is so obviously getting geared up to go?

So what are you guys suggesting the purpose and thus end result would be?  Speculating of course.

put walls.. buying cheap .. release walls..    sell high Smiley

If that is arbitrage buying, that's probably why the gox price stalled, the coins are being dumped there simultaneously (for a profit).

then you can expect some bigger uptrend next week Smiley or who knows.. tomorrow.    last friday some big bull started buying if i'm not mistaken :

to be honest.. i dont think the arbitrage game between bitstamp en gox does much on the price at gox.. volume on bitstamp is not big enough imho.

normaly i'm buying on bitstamp trough bitfinex but the support on bid side is to thin right now for me to attack that wall with a margin buy.

Fiat is pouring out from Gox's order book. Bears are better equipped for the next assault to $125.

It's crucial for the bulls to win that battle. If they win it for the second time the battlefield will be full of bear corpses, and they won't dare to try to take that spot again.

If they make it fall... Well, we will see much cheaper coins (below $120), and a mid term downtrend would be expected.

i dont belive bids or ask volume has much to do with price

the volume trading has been going down since the "bubble"...(had nothing to do with dwolla  etc)  to me it's  just silence before the storm .. and since we are trending up on the long run..   my best guess  is  that whoever wanted their money out of gox already did so. (like bitfinex they got all their btc and fiat out of gox )
the people who have lots of fiat cannot just simply put it on a bank without ringing some bells) and do not want to pay the withdraw fees.. on gox

like that 7k wall that got bought cheap yesterday.. this guy could have made much more fiat if he wanted out by selling slow. Since there's no other place to trade this volumes..  he'll be still in the game..

i'm a bull ofcourse i'm in for the long run too.

At least the OKPay thing is a smooth transition. Was Mt.Gox's announcement the first time, this news went public?

For the reference: https://mtgox.com/pdf/20130528_okpay_statement.pdf

Edit: https://www.okpay.com/en/company/news/bitcoin-okpay-terms-of-use.html, 5/27/2013

My question is: was the dip yesterday before the news?

I believe "OKPay suspending Bitcoin processing" and "OKPay not sending fiat to/from exchanges" is two different things. The former doesn't matter a whit to MtGox -- if you have Bitcoin, you can deposit it directly at Gox, no need to use OKPay.

I'm still trying to figure out MtGox's rather ambiguous wording on the matter, as they refer to OKPay suspending "all Bitcoin processing", but it's not clear what they mean.

maybe mtgox is just lying. to avoid people to switch exchange..    that use okpay .   we will know in a few weeks i guess.

The issue is that the US government quickly dismantles any business that allows such a thing. Literally every single US based service ever that has enabled irreversible fast payments has been shut down. I'm not joking.

Good luck with "shutting down" Bitcoin.

I'm really hoping the US is so blind and short-sighted to officially outlaw Bitcoin, so a) Coinseeker and his likes stop using it because of that mental illness named "patriotism", and b) they learn in the very hard way that Bitcoin was designed to be resilient to both bans and regulation.

Anyhow, I guess all the financial institutions and their sockpuppets (AKA the three-letter agencies) have looked into it and realized they cannot just ban it, so they will play their cards differently.

Well, so far Bitcoin or should I say the infastructure Bitcoin needs to be anything more than a speculative and black market sideshow, is losing that battle.  And DHS only served ONE warrant.  Talk all the big guy trash you want but people with actual businesses, fear the USG and FinCEN regulations are preventing any real launch of Bitcoin.  So Bitcoin's "resilience" is only in your own mind.

Look at the ATM's.  There could be thousands by now...but these people aren't going to jail for it.  Businesses are voluntarily closing or rejecting US users because they know the truth. All while you simply sit on your computer and pretend to be "hardcore", living in a delusional world that only sees Bitcoin increasing in value, even if no one in America can legally access it.  Grin   And please don't give me that, "the US isn't the whole world" nonsense either.  If there rest of the world was even remotely close to the volume of the US, the markets wouldn't be dead all night while you wait for us to wake up and of course...lead the world.   Wink

Or, holy shakedown

Still it amazes me how little it goes down.
A sell like this was enough for a drop to 110 dollars a while back...now it drops a few dollars. People don't panic anymore like they used to do.
Instead it seems people consider it a great opportunity to buy "cheap coins".
I could be wrong but that's the feeling i have.

I get that feeling too.  Maybe it's because every panic has been beaten back so well.  I still remember the panic to $98 being turned straight around back to >$110.

Why did they wait 2 years to shut down liberty reserve? It takes time to build a case.

If that was their plan, they probably wouldn't have telegraphed it by seizing only their US accounts, thereby giving them time to move funds and destroy evidence.

I don't think Mt. Gox will be shut down, but I do not like that they have not even addressed the issue, and I won't risk funds with them until there is some clarity around their position.

As for Bitcoin itself, anything that happens to Mt. Gox will be a temporary setback. New, compliant exchanges are opening and will continue to open.

OT:

On BitStamp a single 600 BTC buy order @115$ moved up the price.
So with 600 BTC you can  temporarily push up a market like that of about 5%.

Same thing happened a few days ago with a single order @125$.
What's interesting is that a few minutes later a sell order of same amount made price crumble down.
Nice pattern.

How sick would it be if this was the ultimate bear trap.  Shake all the weak hands and run it up to 500.   Shocked

Welcome Tycoon! Congratulations on finding one of the most effective hedges against world financial collapse! The more the merrier! Smiley

thx, but pls explain what is those columns? what is the "sum" column.

0.2   0.1524   109.08001
29.0   28.8592   109.07000   sum = 28.8592 + 0.1524 (the previous one)
29.1   0.1000   109.06900   sum is 0.1000 +previous sum
29.6   0.5000   109.05060    ...
30.6   0.9758   109.00001
30.7   0.1000   108.95

bid= what someone is willing to pay  for a bitcoin
ask = what someone is asking for  bitcoin
volume = how many bitcions

sum(bitcoin)    volume(bitcoin)      bid($)
29.0                28.8592                 109.07000

this means someone is willing to buy ..28.8592 bitcoins  at a price of 109.07$/bitcoin

Exactly right. Bitcoin has never been a billion dollar market in the first place. The figures most people are touting from Bitpay are hugely inflated because of mining equipment, and the evidence like data on sales of Humble Bundle, Reddit Gold and bitcoinstore suggest that people don't use Bitcoin as a currency in any significant way.

We'll I will quote this every single time I try to make my point.
I'll let you have some part of the treatment I got when saying nobody is using it except .....

my friends are using bitcoin.. umong them selves and other friends

for example: 1 come and help a day with painting my friends house.. ..  i get a bitcoin from my friend for the work..

now .. this is slowly spreading  .to friends of friends..  and so on.

it's a start isnt it? Wink facebook became popular the same way.

hehe .. thats why i'm not buying  this all feels too manipulated to me.

This kind of blatant manipulation only encourages me to withdraw more USD from the exchanges.

I'm thinking of this as a kind of attack against crypto currencies.

If someone was hired and funded by a government and asked to do their best to destabilise and potentially collapse Bitcoin and other crypto currencies in general this is exactly how someone could do it and accumulate Bitcoin for future moves while doing so.

Destabilisation to the point where people don't know what's going on or have any idea what to expect will deter serious investors from getting involved.

I'm not saying this is a 'state actor' but it makes sense that this would be one method of attack by a well funded enemy of Bitcoin.

I'm thinking that this kind of large scale manipulation could pave the way for further regulation and open up exchanges to legal problems under different laws to the existing ones which are being applied right now.

I wonder if anyone who knows much about Japanese legislation and how uncontrolled potentially preventable manipulation on this scale would apply to MtGox. I have to wonder if someone's engineering a situation which could open up new avenues of legal action.

on the other hand.. these are big opportunities for other  big players to join the game.. since it's so easy to manipulate and make big profits

free market will set itself back on track ..    thats what I believe..

there's enough btc out there to eat big manipulators whatever amount they bring..  at some point they need to buy btc to push prices down with a ask wall so..  if you have a lot of btc and want to cash out .. thats an opportunity.

i noticed too that 8k wazillza at some point didnt move price.. ppl where like.. fuck it.  .. so they can manipulate of course but there always that line where people are fed up with it.

i'm sure with the last rally up from yesterday and today.. .. if wazilla shows up .. some panic silling wil happen.; and much more as usual since there are bigger volumes involved..   so there's an opportunity to buy in low.

I personaly dont think it's government people behind the manipuation, they could crash the price anyday.. with a few 100 millions.. not that big of an amount i think for even a small country.

happy trading

Damn manipulators Sad Let the bubble deflate completely!

Anyway, i'm not buying it, sitting 100% on fiat until we go under $80, then i will start purchasing little by little.

Oh man, you're going to be butthurt when it hits $120. On the other hand, I can see $120 then crash to $90 and below. If not, $180 in a month.

Calm down boys. Before going to $180 it has to break $166. When $166 is broken, the sky is the limit.

Why does it have to break $166.00? Why is that a significant break point? Thanks in advance.

166 was the high after 266. Also roughly matches the 0.618 Fibonacci ratio. So it is an important support/resistance point.

I really don't think skys the limit, 266 is the limit, and 180 is the target, i expect to see the 150-170 trading range hold for a long long time, once we've corrected back up.

well if we go up..  support wasnt there over 100$ to realy push ..  i reckon  it's going up for a bit due to panic buying.. .. and then crashes back ... to 90's..   (the week after that probbably a deeper crash).

if we go down .. people will withdraw their bid offers hoping to catch at lowest price.. i'm just boldly guessing 78 - 80 (i dont see 30 -50 happening .. there was a good buy power at 88 -90)

so in my little mind.. i'm just not buying yet..  until it goes below 90 ..

what i think is happening.;   big guy .. slowly bying up with 1k(ish) buys..     people think .. oh trend is changing..   lets buy..

big guy has  put good bidvolume ..

now big guy bought high ....  he knows price will not go much deeper then 80 ish ... so must atack from a higher price ..

big guy removes bidvolume..

dump enough coins to start panic selloff ..

we all think its cup and handle pattern right? Smiley    well maybe this can be true for the big player to even have the ability  to sell at even higher price..

i'm still full fiat..   got bot ready to profit when we might have some shortterm up rally..
but looking at full orderbook , + asci miners having a lot of coins to sell lately...   i'm not feeling it uptrending already..
although TA indicators are pretty good looking to me for some up trend..

this market is manipulated too much  .. i'd say 1 more time bottom to start trend reversal or stability and slowly growing to the next bubble in januari Smiley

USD out of their gox account.

because of recent news about problems with withdrawal of usd?
or what do you mean?

This might explain it better ... dated today

https://mtgox.com/press_release_20130620.html

thanks...
so the fastest way to get your dollars out of gox is...buying bitcoins and selling them on another exchange with faster withdrawal???.
didn't we have that problem with gox withdrawals already some weeks ago?

yes and it doesnt do anything on the price Smiley  basicaly business as usual..

Situation is:
There is currently and for the coming 2 weeks NO option to cash out on Gox .
Who is gonna sell now? Not miners or asics companies or those who need cash, only speculators who believe price will correct back. Those who have fiat on gox and are worried about the nonsensical explanation of the press release will want to buy coins and hold or sell at another exchange. Conclusion: more buying than selling will occur.

i'm sitting on gox with fiat for ages now.. why would 2 weeks make any difference? Smiley
maybe sell a bit .. to pay bills on other exchanges sure..

Well if the theory of the gox price rising because of an exodus of btc in order to cash-out elsewhere has any merit then I guess people are using localbitcoins or some other service with a gox-linked price (or they're not in a hurry to convert back to USD) because it's certainly not driving the price down at bitstamp or elsewhere at the moment.  The proximity-to-gox is certainly a bigger percentage than average but there is no correlating down as of yet to gox's up.

This statement screams cash flow issues.
Why limit to $1milliion USD per day ? and not like 100 wires per day? if they are having issues with overload of request, they should limit the request and not the amount.

Because that's the limit imposed by their bank maybe?

it doesnt make much sense to limit the amount of money..    banks transfer billions a day

How the fuk would gox become insolvent... They're sitting on a goldmine of trading fees alone. You guys really need to stop thinking the worst possible scenarios, I personally think Gox isn't as bad as you guys make it seem. Yes, they have problems, but that's to be expected of an online exchange operating in a novelty area like bitcoin...

GOX is doomed.  The sob stories are going to be classic, as millions evaporate to fund the retirement of Gox executives.

I wouldn't go that far but they certainly have lost a lot of customers and they were partly responsible for the big correction a few months ago.
You reap what you sow, so I think Gox will just lose market share. That is needed.
They have done a lot for BTC, being a leader is very difficult. At least they have been great with security.
It will be nice when the exchanges are more evenly distributed, % wise.

Didn't they lose everyone's password hashes recently? My friend had everything stolen.

If your "friend" did not use 2 step authentication he deserved it.

He did not deserve it. We all make mistakes.

I only found out about the password hashes from a post on here. All gox had to do was send out and email informing customers what had happened and to advise them to change their password.

I'm not just gox bashing for the hell of it, they are not that bad, but this could have been avoided.
All your friend had to do was read his e-mail I guess. They sent multiple e-mails regarding this...

I really wish transfer between BTCe and Gox was easier.

Never though I would say this, but I really wish somebody could create Pegcoin, all the advantages of instant, decentralized transfer of bitcoin, but pegged to fiat currency value.  Obviously I prefer something with a limited supply like bitcoin, but for now it would certainly make arbitraging a lot easier...  Probably not a viable idea to implement though (not to mention the legal issues).

Ripple?

I haven't really looked into Ripple decently, but isn't it a lending system?
Not really. Money is held by ripple gateways in the same way that money is held by bitcoin exchanges. So when you send Bitstamp $1000 and move it to your Ripple wallet, they "owe" you $1000 the same way they'd owe you if you kept in on Bitstamp.

Ripple is great, IMO. It has incredible potential as a payment system and is far more versatile than bitcoin in that regard. In that way, since you can move in and out of so many currencies and IOU issuers, Ripple could be very useful for arbitraging. Too early at this point, though.

I dont care if people use ripple or not..
aslong as bitcoin exchanges use it. i'm happy..

Arbitrage the shit  out of it Smiley

Something unusual on Gox, BTC is trading within a 20c band for the last couple of hours. Normally oscillates at least $1 or more.

A compressed price range often leads to a breakout.

You'd be surprised at the amount of people who can't wrap their heads around the idea of "selling high and minimize your losses and then buying lower more of the stuff you like".

At the moment though, and it hurts to say, btc is still almost exclusively a financial platform, a very speculative one at that. Not nearly ready to go helping the 3rd world.
This is where I think bitcoin will start helping people outside of the US and Europe:

http://www.onlineprnews.com/news/393671-1372182394-major-online-staffing-site-outbounderscom-now-accepts-bitcoin.html

Developments like this make it easier for programmers, artists, designers, and other people whose product can be delivered via the Internet, to sell their services on the international market. I'm sure there are plenty of people in Argentina with those kinds of skills and Bitcoin solves the problem of allowing anyone in the world to pay anyone else in the world.

The ability to spend Bitcoins on imported goods is growing too; it won't remain a speculator's toy forever.

thats a very nice sign..  only 1100 employers at this time  but it could be a trend setter .

Very low support above 66, I'm waiting for lower prices with lots of patience.

it's tempting to buy though.. but this feels like panic buying..

It's clear the wall served its purpose

If there were enough buyers we'd eat right through that wall. This should be worrisome to "bulls" as we are coming off the first rally in a while AND coming off support.

But, we do have to see what happens once America is awake fully.

some will  ..   sell high the coins they bought since last low (66 ish ) for an easy profit..

some will pig

some will buy thinking the price will go higher (cup handle pattern) to make a quick profit  since the 4h ema's are about to cross.  but we seen this before. always just when they cross some guy come's in and dump enough to break the rally. (well maybe it's not a manipulator but just people not feeling the uptrend yet .; selling at the best price at that time)

i'm just not buying.. the only reason why price has gone up is because of 3-4 big buys.. not because everybody is in a buying spree

I bought back in at 65 (Bitstamp). 63-64 has been tested 3 times and has held. My guess is that the price will rally for a while now.

A quick update.

I sold at just under 75 on Bitstamp yesterday, as there seems to be little in the way of upward momentum. There now seems to be a vague triple bottom and/or downward triangle forming around 70. I suspect selling pressure will break through this and we will push back down towards 65 and possibly lower.

I think I will sit on my hands and buy when it feels right, rather than putting an order at this time. There doesn't seem to be much support above 60 on the books and I'm unsure whether 65 would survive another sell off.

If only I had done the same. Funny, your numbers matched mine...

Thanks for sharing your observations with selling pressure as I haven't been watching much. I have seen the larger blocks in buys stagnate though.

And look at this double double reverse bottom descending triangle. What do you all think?  Grin

MtGox price is decoupling from Bitstamp and BTC-e again. There seems to be concern because there hasn't been a single person sighted who has actually successfully withdrawn money from MtGox since they announced the end of the hiatus. If this is true, then money hasn't been allowed to flee MtGox for at least a month. I'd consider the MtGox price distorted, and I'm not sure how long Bitstamp and BTC-e are going to follow it that much, so the price gap will probably widen more.

Personally, I doubt MtGox is broke, but clearly they are having major problems probably with their banks, and they aren't forthright about things and keeping silent.

It is closed-source, centralized, has a currency called XRP that is 100% premined and in the hands of the creators, and the whole thing is owned by a for-profit company.

Is this not a problem for you Coinseeker? If not then wtf are you doing on bitcointalk? This is the most important thing about bitcoin, besides it can't be printed from ass, and you think it's just irrelevant?

1.  OpenCoin has stated repeatedly they will open source upon coming out of Beta.
2.  There is no "pre-mined" because there is no mining mechanism.  Either case, Ripple is not a currency anyway, so who cares?  It's a payment network.  Like Paypal for crypto and fiat but pretty much free.  Learn the difference.
3.  Since when did being a for profit company become a negative?  Free markets are only good, sometimes?

So to answer your question, yes, this is all irrelevant to me.  If you have anymore questions, PM me so we don't distract from all the "wall" talk going on.   Roll Eyes

also the ridiculous ROI poeple have reported for just lending USD on finex, seems to indicate that the "credit bubble" has much room to grow.

Do you think that all that FIAT money that is 'parked' in Finex is good for the price of Bitcoin, since it is effectively being used to buy more bitcoin, or is it bad for the price. I'm trying to figure out the exact workinga and implications here Smiley

Just free market at work here..

ppl dont want to miss out on the bubble so they are loaning or buying on margin.. in advance
(remember you can be in btc or in usd  to loan fiat to buy coins, so it's an potential accumulation of both sides of the pair, which is why it can be much much higher then what we are seeing right now..  there's 10k btc whales out there that can move their coins in and out anytime )

now if the loans are getting to expensive ppl close them..hence the selling . but meanwhile others taking new one's thinking the bubble is just around the corner.

I dont think the loan/lend  market is unhealthy at all..  thats why we are hanging around this price   and the loans can keep on going..

Now to me the guys lending are taking usd  profits .. probably buying up slowly new coins with them .. at some point the market will have no more coins willing to be sold..  at that time
there will be less coins available (yes i think the ask walls are fake on bfx .. and put there with their usd equivalent without taking loans )   and the bubble can start.
because
a) many ppl had to pay swaps..  and lost fiat or part of their btc holding... .
b) the lenders are buying the coins right now slowly with profits
c) the big ask walls will suddenly go away
d) everybody will suddenly realise how they can't buy the same amount of coins anymore with the fiat they had..before due to lack of asks..
e) bulls will trapp many bears ..

this is why i just buy and hold.. i lost to many already on this leverage/margin game..
smart money is taking coins and fiat from market.. until market has no choice anymore to just rally up.

i'm a perm bull since 400 Smiley so i might be bias .

I'm so damn tired of these dumpers and these people putting up ask walls the minute we're about to go up.
It's like they do everything they can to make sure the price doesn't go above 600.
Sooooo tired of it.

this is what is happening .. and if you are a bull you should be happy about it.

put walls on important points fibs or psychological  round numbers..  or at tops .. like 680 was a a good point.. since market was rallied out..
others will put asks infront of you..   and with price going down .. others will add asksk..

this way ppl  who want to buy in "cheap" (anything below 600 is cheap).. can..
because we gonne test ath anyways.. so doubling investment  is as good as sure.

now big players are slowly buying in.    with as good as no slippage..
once the market is ready to go up ..  and  it will at some point..
suddenly you'll be looking at thin ask side on orderbook and only nice ask sharkwalls in higher prices.. which attract them buyers..    the sharkwalls are the  whales slowly selling up ... they gonne push up as hard they can so they can keep on selling higher and higher..

it's all about waiting, and waiting and waiting..  and don't lose coins trying to trade..

at this point.. i only buy new coins..  dont care  much about the price..  aslong it's below 600.

i was looking at bitfinex for a while and it is just absurd...

.
.
.

it's crazy...like people actually want to lose money

When people throw money at you, accept it with a smile.

I expect that nearly everyone here is a long-term bull.  I can't think of a justification for btc being in the 400's, except market malfunction.  Everything in fundamental analysis is golden.  Sentiment analysis changes everyday: moon, hell, moon, hell.  Technical analysis seems to be broken most of the time because this such an emotion-driven market.  After Dell, Global Payments, the Ebay subsidiary, etc., etc., etc., good news after good news after good news, does it make sense that btc is selling for 495 or 500?  I think no.  I stopped trading, bought a long term position and will wait for the top.

Smile, buy coins, be gracious when the price goes back up.

buy more = lose more, there is no "cheap coins", coins will always be cheaper and cheaper

are you a bot to spam bear crapp all over the forum lol ? Smiley

so yet again someone puts 2k+ coins on Stamp and Finex and pushes the price down on Huobi, who the hell can afford to sell 5k coins every few days for weeks? It's like he waits for the last batch to clear to the bank before selling another 5k+

or..........it's different people.

same guy..  playing a rotating game.. until he starts to rotate to the upside Smiley

Miners. They make 6 * 24h * 25BTC = 3600BTC/day. They have to sell them to cover the cost of electricity + equipment.

good thing the miners of 2010 still have to sell   for their electricity bills right? Smiley ..

not all miners are new guys.. them old guys have many buffer left..
most miners mentality is not to sell if they dont have to..   if they did.. market price would be  1$ Wink

All i see is 1 or 2 whales pushing price down   for months.   when they get stuck.. they pump it up. until market  slows down ..   then putting walls on top of it.. and push down again..       they gonne do this until they are loaded with cheap coins.. or until market sais  : halt..

i think we are at the halt phase.. 450 ish.

so all the asks just dissapeared ..?

great "market"

seems most of stamps orderook = a market maker bot.. Smiley  he can move all asks or bids to one side..   and this is how he traps ppl all the time.

just record it  with some screen capture.. and watch it all happen a bit faster

What is this for?

The posts from chartbuddy (a bot) show the bids and asks various exchanges. Some traders believe that the position and size of the "walls" (large bids/asks) give insight into how the BTC/USD (the dollar price of BTC) will change in the immediate future.

This thread is for discussing these walls. In theory. In practice, discussions tend to be much wider-ranging than that!

one should ignore walls imho.. Smiley first mistake i made 4 years ago.; is watching walls and orderbook..

So can we finally dump to sub 200$?

There is obviously nobody interested to push this to 300...
it will not happen.   had massive dubble bottom on BFX    and thats because of the margin domino effect.
other exchanges have a higher high..  around 200 ..

the weekly looks like it's time for reversal..

buy  220 225  sell 310 zone..    and wait until we get out of this sideways. (+316$)
