This prediction is extremely unlikely in my opinion...institutional money will hop in way before that...Too many people are directly incentivized to prevent BTC from falling to 2.5k.

Everybody was saying all that and more in 2014 after the rise to $1200.

$800 - "this is the bottom, Overstock adoption"
$600 - "this is the bottom, new Chinese exchanges coming online"
$400 - "this is the bottom, New Egg, Bitcoin Trust, institutional investment on the way"
$200 - "this is the bottom.....eh"
$180 - "this is the bottom" (And it was).

Bitcoin always makes sure people take pain well beyond their expectations to bake in any new floor. Usually by going all the way to the last long term high and a bit below it. (April 2013 was $266. That had to get retested after the $1200. It did, with an $80 overshoot just for good measure).

Don't be surprised to see at least a wick down to $800.

this is quite scary!!
I really hope the price will not get any lower  Cry Cry

We are going to $4k, but I'm already preparing myself psychologically for $2500.

Sad, because I remember the 1st of August and it was memorable when bitcoin was above $3000.

Nobody is going to buy right now, because it keeps dropping.

Maybe Ifinex is doing this, selling their btc in other exchanges and provoking a snowball effect. They need the dollars to prove the tether is backed by them.

So 2.3 billion worth of bitcoins are being dumped.

I was thinking on selling to buy back lower, but who knows, it can stop right now and come back up.

Do any of you have numbers of how many btc were dumped since this bear run started?

Thinking the same about selling now and rebuy later. But everytime I tried that, it directly went up.  Huh

So keep trying dude, over and over again!! Wink Wink

Do you think this bloodbath for today is over?
It seems like market is recovering
nope

Between 2018 and 2013 there had been 5 Years.

Once could argue that this meltdown could heal in another 5~10 years. But I doubt that. The momentum has been lost, the notation of the currency as a store of value destroyed.

I do not agree, plus the fundamental as alternative to the traditional economic system is intact! and that is, for me, that gives the real value to this whole thing!!

Give me a break, store of value, ha. Bitcoin is about getting the fuck out of a corrupt system that enriches the rich by taking from the poor. Bitcoin's value is an escape from that system and its injustice, end of story. If it happens to go up to an incredible $ amount, making it a store of value, so be it.

The system is fucked, throughout history it has always been fucked. Now, for the first time ever, the common people have an escape from that system. In 10 years time when current amount of bankers fiat has increased 5 million times, Bitcoin will be there. It will be priced high because not being in the system will be worth it.

Shit, your meant to be a legendary member. You should understand this.

That's the point folks!!!

This shit is headed towards 4k and possibly under $3k.

Next 2 years will be very painful.

We have all done it before and we can all do it again.

Yep. Thats right.

The 2-3 year bear market was set up by December's extraordinary peak (could have topped out at 6-8k by my own estimates, but the CME futures news shot it to the moon). The grind down is needed to wash out the extreme speculation... Before a new uptrend is truly in place, the last 6-9 months' wild speculative buyers need to be whittled down to true hodlers, unaffected by the price moves.

That could take take 2 years and $2.5k price in my stupid-assed opinion.

Hope I'm wrong.

2 years like this means BYE BYE BTC

What do you think guys?

Usual BULLSHIT, the worst day for BTC price recently has been the "institutional" money, with those stupid FUTURES.

Wall street, and the banks, and all the traditional institutions are against the crypto/cypherpunk philosophy, they are trying to destroy it from the inside!!

2 years like this means BYE BYE BTC

Why ?
I thought something similar in 2015. "Its broken the trendline. It shouldnt have gone below $260 (to $160) and should be rallying by now. Something terrible must be going on. Is bitcoin hacked?"  Luckily I couldnt bring myself to sell my remaining coins. They were worth so little.

with the numbers of 2015 was accetable, with the numbers today, many people is losing trust and will never come back again for fear!
losing 200 bucks is a thing, losing 6 000 is a different story!
We had the opportunity to change the world if this is the trend for the next years, I think we are going to lose this opportunity.

Not to mention the difficulty, and the current costs to mine, and support the network with the same expenses in 2015

Just my opinion

There was a 94% decline in 2011. So we may still fall to around $1000.

We are not in 2011. Totally stupid to always compare with the very beginning of BTC.

I see LTC at 76 bucks, been adding slowly on the decline and that's a nice cheap price.  Try to buy LTC at Coinbase, error returned "insufficient funds".  Hmm that's strange.  Check my bank, Chase, and the account.  Funds are there.  Try to transfer some more in because I want to buy a bunch.  Cannot transfer "site is under maintenance"  Hmm, never seen that before.  Decide to try to use some BTC to buy LTC as the rate is nice.  Poloniex says "BTC is currently under maintenance or experiencing wallet issues. Deposits and withdrawals will remain disabled as we work to find, test, and audit a solution. Thank you for your patience in the meantime.".  NEVER seen them frezze the BTC wallet before!

So you can't buy at Coinbase.  You can't use your bank funds.  You can't arb at Poloniex.  And this is all just a coincidence.

Mark my words, this is a bottom, if not THE bottom.  Only explanation.

Post some evidences if you can please.
Hope somebody else could confirm this

Holy Shit ... Bitcoin difficulty is projected to increase by ~24% in 6 days ...

OK, the culprit is the decrease of BCH because miners switched over to mine BTC instead.

But I believe that the point where mining costs are higher than the BTC value must be here (or nearly here)

Depends on which country you are based, sure is that in a while just in Venezuela they will be able to mine with no loss if we go ahead like this

Hi there,

on crypto twitter are few days that some folks are excited about the possibility of BTC to being approved by ETF or something like that.

Folks are excited because this time the application has been submitted by CBOE that is a huge actor, and they think that because of this this time the application will be not rejected, like last time.

I'm a bit scared because since CBOE launched their features the price didnt go anywhere but down.

Please let me understand why this time will be different and why it is a good news for BTC

So guys, after reading a bit aroud this incoming ETF thing, I didn't decided yet whether this event will pump or dump the price!

I think that if an ETF should be approved, which I'm not too convinced of right now, it could be a mixed blessing. Depending on its rules and its effective audience, it can turn out to be a pump&dump machine for the elites or a retail instrument for mom&pops.

The first route could lead to more turmoil, chaos and mainstream scorn. The second route could help bitcoin become what it was designed to be. I'm thinking of mostly clueless baby boomers who could embrace an instrument promising exceptional growth and listed on the "normal" channels. This would lead to universal recognition, and in turn wider adoption.

Admitting some form of ETF is eventually approved, which way will it go? Hard to tell. Verifying a fund's financial solvibility/consistency is a trivial matter, given the way the blockchain works. Verifiable pubblic addresses require virtually no auditing.

However, as said above, the SEC guys are likely just bureaucrats at heart, with a vulture tinge on the side. So rather than certainty of collateral - which is trivial to verify as we all know - they focus on the (in)stability and manipulability of the underlying market - which as of today, is still a hard to deny reality.

We are facing interesting days for sure. And months, and years.

interesting!

May I ask you why you think the ETF will be not approved this time?

THX

The previous applications were all turned down because the SEC can't police a global unregulated market. They can only give permission to the things they can 'protect'.

Absolutely nothing has changed since then.

So I agree that it will be rejected this time, and I hope all the further times!
I really hope BTC will keep being "UNPROTECTED" and UNREGULATED
