Luckily I managed to buy a new computer before the slight dip. The charts are looking good, maybe have to wait until after the weekend until the new bull race emerges.

Sometime soon after August 1, I had written into Localbitcoins, and I was inquiring how to retrieve my BCH.  They told me that they were not going to Support BCH, so I was losing my BCH.  

Today, I was trying to figure out why there was a discrepancy in my Localbitcoin's account, and I had about 11% more bitcoin's in my account.  So I went back to trace my transactions, and it showed that on September 25, they had given me "airdrop" credits for my BCH in terms of about 11.27%.. hahahahahhahaha... A windfall for me, because I had already been grumbling and complaining to myself and I had pretty much written off those coins.... Magic?  

I think that for some reason Local bitcoins wanted to keep good will with their customers.. and so they deserve a thank you to local bitcoins for doing the right thing!!!!

It's pretty common for the entire crypto market to fall in unison during "Real Bitcoin Crashes."

That said, I'm still not sure if this will become one.  We're not even at 1/2 the peak price.  Serious crashes fall to 1/4 to 1/10th of the peak (so $2,000 to $5,000 in our case).

the question I have is this

mine LTC....pay my income tax on this...say 25% of what was mined....sell on coinbase....and pay (if less than a year) 40% capital gains tax

If I mine LTC and pay income tax on this ...again 25% but xfer the LTC to BTC I am hit with another 40% capital gains because in 2018 it is gonna act like cash

Well, it's mostly because there are people who own like 200,000 coins and can't sell them without imploding the market, so they're essentially illiquid, toxic assets.  On the other hand, they can use their toxic assets as margin collateral to squeeze shorts and also to do pump and dumps.  If you live in a civilization that facilitates people to leverage toxic assets and create a toxic asset at 3x the price of a non-leveraged one, take a good look around because all this shit is going to be crumbling down on top of you soon and that applies to both bitcoin + Wall Street.

I agree with this. This mostly felt like get-rich-quick types jumping on. Once they are disappointed and broke, we should settle back in around 6-10K and move sideways for a bit, which is not bad. A lot of the altcoin euphoria is out of control as well and there would be serious losses.

Early adopters don't dump on the exchanges. They call Bobby Cho at Cumberland Mining and sell direct to institutions or high net worth peeps. Min transaction $100,000. Million dollar transactions preferred.

You nonsense posts kind of remind me of a few other posters from the earlier WO thread days who were preaching BIG talk shorts that they were going to make a killing on, and either those dumbass gamblers got REckt or they had to attempt to recover their bitcoin position while chasing the bitcoin train to the rocket at a significant loss when bitcoin went flying in a direction against their position (which means that bitcoin went up, and you can review past charts to verify), rather than their anticipated down.

One objection I have to the second part of your reply is that trying to make out 1-2 years beyond now is probably a sterile exercise. The "real world" can push a lot, in either direction, during such a long time frame.

A little dump and the bears and beartrolls are emerging from their dens. Despite their prophesies of DOOM the price is still around $7k. Nothing new: HODL and buy the freaking dip!

A bitcoin maximalist can have 0% bitcoin in theory. Maximalism is just about how you define your goal. What is it that you are trying to acquire the most that you can of? If you want the most bitcoins that you can possably have at some point in the future, perhaps the best path towards that goal is to have no bitcoins at all at the present time.

I have been dabbling with Ledger Nano S. It handles many currencies. For a long time it's only direct connection was with  Electrum on Tails Linux (very good) or Chromium plugin on Chrome (less good). They recently released a standalone Linux client for it (very good).

One feature I like, is that you can add a second password, for a second amount. Plausible deniability.
