i've been disconnected for a couple weeks, ya see. was there some big progress on scaling or something? i saw about the miners coalition for segwit then 6 months later 3mb blocks. is that what's driven us to near 3k?
There is nothing significant happening in the past couple of weeks. Sure a couple of weeks ago there was news of the segwit2mb that brought a pump based on false premises, but in the end, the pump seems to merely be based on ongoing and upwards price pressures, possibly driven by demand in Japan and Korea (and of course contagious, including some of the China and Bitfinex disparities resolving themselves) and no meaningful news developments..

Sure i Did more research And watch all day the charts for my own.
Reading many topics for speculations what others also try to understand bitcoin.
But what i Dont understand is.. the price swings like now whats happening on (kraken).
We have a natural growth what Goes up, Ofcourse i understand also that this is bitcoin.
Many told me that this price going up And down like 1% - 15% on a price around €2400 is normal.
Yes Ofcourse its manupilation by big investers, But How is iT possible that iT can decline in 5 minutes
So much € if its growing natural in price.

We're not going up or down, wee're going sideways. I'm grateful for that because rapid price swings over extended periods of time get too stressful.
Relative to alts, we're going up significantly. Ether is down quite a bit over the last couple of days.
It's clear that Ether has reached its peak, and now that people are realising SegWit activation is likely to be soon it seems pointless except for temporary ICO hype which is frankly embarrassing to blockchain technology considering how shit most of these projects are.
I see the sideways movement as very positive, not neutral. Especially when it's rose so much over the last couple of months.

It's the weekend, and bank transfers of fiat to exchanges stop during weekends. Although we used to expect a weekend dump there have recently been weekend pumps, possibly because people had fiat saved on exchanges. Unfortunately wt seems we are back to the weekend dump cycle again.
However, it might prove to be a trick and the price might yet pump like orpington suggests.

Had a couple of AMGs myself, a CLK55 and a C32. Both very fast cars but not a patch on the 63. (A mate of mine had a C63 and that was really quick). Although they are great on big open roads they are pretty heavy on the twisty stuff. Would prefer a 911 for that sort of thing.

Segwit2x signaling is only a "political" stance now. No technical implications (no BIP's) yet. They are just signaling that, when the time comes, they are going for th 2x part of the Segwit2x agreement. It may have been slightly reduced in the past few days because ViaBTC has directed much of its hasrate to BCH mining, maybe Bitmain is doing the same, and both of those are part of the Segwit2x signaling in BTC.
BIP141 was already locked, no matter if the signaling goes to zero.... it will inevitably activate in 396 blocks.

I understand that your questions are for cAPSLOCK; however, I just cannot resist chiming in... Go figure!
Over the years, that chart has come up frequently, and it does seem to capture some aspects of various interim bubbles, and it may even capture some aspects of some speculative assets that go through a shorter life cycle and maybe just one hype cycle.
I am with you, empowering, that it does not seem to capture bitcoin very well, and it could be that we are quite early in such a life-cycle curve, if such a curve would be applicable to bitcoin in any kind of meaningful sense.
If bitcoin were to be some kind of flash in the pan that ends up dwindling, then yeah, we could see it petering out, and none of us know whether ultimately bitcoin will peter out - especially if it were to get sabotaged or coopted in some way, right?
Bitcoin has surely shown a certain level of robustness, and I think that some of us HODLers recognize that robustness, and we have been rewarded financially (and generously) for HODLing through the good and bad times of bitcoin.. while recognizing that bitcoin is still building and bitcoin has a foundation that provides a considerable amount of upside potential, which would be still putting us in the likely early stages of any growth curve that is even a bit earlier than institutional investors in the above depiction, as you say.
It is a bit unclear about whether some BIG ASS upside curve is necessary in all asset classes, and especially if their life cycle ends up being a couple hundred years, then you may have a different kind of curve.
Maybe the sum of the situation is that this particular graph does not apply very well to bitcoin - because even though we have gone through numerous hype cycles, those hype cycles may show up as blips within a larger s-curve adoption scale - and sure, what are the odds of an s-curve adoption, certainly not 100%.... but I thin that a lot of bitcoin HODLers/accumulators recognize that there are decent chances in bitcoin to go through s-curve adoption, and that we remain in early years in the lower levels of such an s-curve slope.
Personally, I am quite satisfied with my investment, and I would even be content if BTC prices were to languish between $1k and $4k for several years; however, many of us likely recognize that it is more likely that we are going up from here (at least if we consider the longer term), and we have decent chances of continuing to be rewarded generously for our bitcoin investment, whether we are just beginning to establish a stake or if we have already established a decent stake.
Edit: In the meantime, some of the Chinese might get left out, if they do not take actions to protect their bitcoin investments, and if they have been a longer term bitcoin investor, they will likely figure out ways to store their bitcoin and to exchange them in the future, or perhaps, just become longer term HODLers, until the regulatory regime becomes more friendly - and like many folks said, a lot of this may just be FUD that changes chinese options, without completely removing their options (including use of local bitcoins and other direct means).

I'm bullish for long term BTC, and will only support the original Core Chain, but the times are very uncertain and locking in some profits now is probably a wise move, (TBH I've already completed a sell, as I don't want to get caught in a rush for the door).
Im still weighing these options, not decided yet:
1] to sell BTC now, in case bitcoin+b2x will go down, and after the fork both BTC+b2x will not add up to current price-so it would be cheaper to buy them after that
2]keep my BTC until I get b2x forked coins and then try to dump both as fast as possible, and wait. - the risk is it can drop down much faster before I'll be able to sell.
3] do nothing and keep both BTC and b2x indefinitely, hoping for the best. but i don't want to support any rogue fork or bitcoin takeover attempt.- therefore i would rather be out of BTC completely than hold b2x.
4] get out of all cryptos to fiat temporarily and wait for the dust to settle. (there is a chance alts will go deep down after BTC fork as well as bitcoin.) and reload later.
5] hedge with some alts (diversification) - may be risky as well. Some altcoins may pump hard though
--- aditional possible options:
*short BTC - but it would be against my "no BTC shorting" rule #1 of trading
*spend some bitcoin for hardware and stuff, before it (possibly) drops.
atm I still think we may see another ATH before fork, as people will panic buy, so they can get free b2x forked coins. ( hedging against the the takeover/death of BTC)

For Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Kraken has already given its customers holding BTC the equivalent amount of BCH. For any other forks of BTC, like Bitcoin Gold, you can't. Not directly anyway, if at all. You'll have to wait for Kraken to give them to you (if they decide to do so). You should have transferred them out of Kraken and into a wallet for which you have access to the private keys or recovery seed, and all this had to be done before the time of each fork.

Of course. Every time BTC is rallying its "Bitcoin is getting big, the attitude of bitcoin has changed, and itll never crash". Its hard to make a prediction. We could go up to the moon first but probably still dip to $3K afterwards. $3K is based on the last deep horizontal support on the chart but still seems quite generous considering ATH gain is usually near-completely erased.
Watch out for all these lines as significant levels for bounces.

What are you talking about? It does have replay protection. In fact BTG have different addressing than BTC.
What did you use to claim it?
I used the BTG qt wallet in their website.
Use Coinimi android wallet, it’s really easy to just sweep the private keys to claim your free BTG.
If you had bitcoin’s in those addresses prior to the BTG fork then you already said you have moved your bitcoin’s, so use Coinimi to claim your BTG.

I just discovered a better way right now. You use two apps, Bither and Bitpie. In Bither you go to "import private key", write it there, then click on "get fork coins", select the coin you want, the private key, and then it will ask for a Bitpie address to send them. In Bitpie you create a new address, and the forks will already be there, just click on "receive" for each fork (each have a different color), and it will give you an address, then sent the coins from Bither there.
Now the question is where to sell these altcoins for bitcoins. SBTC and BCD have few exchanges, but they are closed for deposits right now.

On the contrary, I think 3k would be good for BTC. The parabolic move up from 2.5k only took 4 months, too fast, and too overbought.
The price has to get oversold before a strong low is established. Nothing to worry about in the long term.
I present a very different outlook to most ppl. , and have always gravitated to the contrarian point of view.
The very biggest scale picture : I count 4 large price waves of adoption since 2011. The chart points are classic formations, like a single huge bull move. The previous high supports the next-but-one low (in fact there is always a significant gap : that is an indicator of the strength of the big move).
The series is (approx).
Highs : $32, $200, $1200, $19000.
Lows : $50, $270, ( ) $2000 fits quite well here. It would still leave the series intact.
If this is correct, I would not expect the price to spend much time below $3000, blink and you might miss it. It could take a year to get there.
These levels also fit well with the Dimon Dip in September 2017, to $2500, which is where the real parabola started.

Yes, there may have been some posters and some proclamations asserting predictions that BTC prices going up or down or even granting greater chances to UP rather than DOWN - yet the mere fact that BTC prices are stalling within a not too dramatic consolidation range does not really tell us much of anything.
Regarding the zone of the actual consolidation, perhaps $7k is the low that would need to be broken before you start shooting your FUD spreading load too quickly, and even then, breaking $7k support would not necessarily indicate that BTC prices are going to break below $6,500, or $5k or even go below $3k as you likely would prefer in your preferred wet dream scenario.

The last time, we blew through 9,000 so fast it was kind of anticlimactic, as I recall it blew up to 11,000 within 3 days with solid gains pretty much every day, we peaked within 3 weeks.
This time it feels more real, like we actually deserve Vegeta this time.
Agreed. Just saw it blowing past $8900 minutes ago and now we are in right territory to get to $9000 before the nights end.

Im too lazy rn to post HM's fractal charts but Im sure you all remember the 2 pumps past 300 in spring and summer of 2015. What if we are going through the same kind of thing, but this time instead of 2 spaced out pumps its just one bigger pump right smack in the middle. In that case we would go back and revisit the 3000's one last time before the march to 100k starts for real for real later this year.
I think 4800-5500 would be more likely but just food for thought. Would like to be wrong and hit 100k next month but you guys gotta pamp it a lot harder for that to happen.

In 2017 we rised in a single day more then $1000 so...
