coordinated effort to drop the price?

If anything, it was to push UP the price.
I was thinking they would try to create false hope and have people buy a little feeling safe with a floor beneath them. Then pull the floor out from underneath everyone and try to cause some panic sales.

Prepare for the price to:
a) go slightly above 72
then
b) drop quickly to 70.40 - 70.60

Next the train will leave the station heading north.

Nice call

What is unique now is that ask walls do not disappear. That ought to have peaked your interest by now..

The asks weren't pulled before we blew through $300 last year. You can't rationalize the market.

The value of Bitcoin grows as infrastructure grows.

You can't compare this market to the market when Gox with all its nonsense were around. Why do you think bounces are weak or pumps just fade out and decline to lower levels? It's because this market is closer to reality than it was with pumpbots at gox (fake liquidity I might add). We are still in correction from this abuse from Mark.

I agree that we are still trying to find our feet from the Agoxalypse but I'm pointing out that there are too many unknowns to be able to predict what the market will do, therefore walls are null. The fake liquidity is a perfect example. Nobody could have ever known that would happen. All the walls in the world weren't going to stop that. I would just pretend walls don't exist. They do nothing to affect the usefulness of Bitcoin. Like I had said before, Bitcoin will grow with infrastructure. The rest is just day trading.

and now after the news, there's a dump?

Bitcoin needs more infrastructure to be more valuable relative to USD/CNY/w/e. Also large mining farms need to sell more BTC to cover operating costs as the price falls.

There is simply no pragmatic answer to "Why should I buy bitcoin?"

Because the opportunity cost of not owning 1 BTC is much greater than the cost to buy one.

"Stolfi's" Rule of Sound Money: if it has no mass, it has no value.

Ageless advice.

The internet is a conglomeration of data, which is energy. The internet has very very little mass but extreme value. Value is transient through tangible (commodity, fiat) and intangible (knowledge, data) means. For example, if I were to sell you the internet for 1B USD would you buy it? It has little mass compared to a pound of Gold, but immensely more value. Based on this I would say the above argument is false.
