I like to hope that the bears in this kind of market sustain enough losses that their power to irrationally drive it down is greatly diluted. I suppose corrections are natural, but it's nice to have a collective sense of confidence when the smart ones know it's going up no matter the short-term obstacles. I guess the new money have to get their coins from someone.
youre a bear if you think market will drop. that doesnt mean that youre getting together with all your bear friends and "irrationally" driving the market down (any more than bulls are "irrational" fur pushing price up). that would never happen anyway. anytime there is a reversal, bears will come out.

The spread between Gox and Bitstamp is the smallest its been in a while, percentage-wise. Its only around 5%. this either means that Gox isn't high enough & will go higher in the future, Bitstamp is too high, or perhaps the arbitrage channels are opening up again.

well, if Gox is selling BTC it does not have that % difference should be going down.

exactly, dump some fractional reserve bitcoins on the exchange and suppress the price. oh, Gox!  Smiley

My idea exactly. I think we might be at the top. Or near it.

You're looking at the wrong timeframe:

maybe but it's more like

Hmm, appears to be a 130~ mini-wall at 498 Stamp trying to push this thing up. I wonder if anyone will follow this time. volume really died down! I am not so sure about that trip to the moon just yet

Seems we have flattened here at 490-495, kinda thought we might dip and make a nice flag. Dont really know what to think. Any thoughts on where were going from here? (besides the proverbial moon)

Just catching our breath after a big day. I'm surprised it didn't slip further.

This.

I thought we would settle down at +-$475 before going into a rally in a few days. It's hodling pretty nice up there.

Same though here. ~470 is something I really expected (and still could happen). Back to 450, without bouncing up, and I'd start worrying that it was a pump&dump after all.

I'm still kind of thinkin it was a pump and dump. But that doesnt mean we cant get one more leg up! A nice dip from 500 could have been a nice bull flag though and a nice place to get a leveraged long in!

Interesting that this time alts are not following BTC, they're even going lower. Are we going to see decoupling again like before December?

It's judgment day for the altcoins, a whole bunch of them will have to die because we simply have too many of them. A few will survive and will come out stronger I think, but we'll just have to wait and see. Smiley

I agree and I am looking forward to some alts dying off. Hopefully when the next overall alt bubble (ie not just darkcoin etc) the alt economy will have pruned back a bit, easier to ride the bubble that way and not get caught holding the wrong coins.

I dunno what to think. The current formation looks like a top with a bear flag (and we are currently in the flag) But it also feels bullish  Smiley  Do you think we might fall out of the bear flag for a leg down and then maybe continue the up trend?

I have to say, things are looking bullish. Missed out on quite a bit of this action. So uh, when do guys think we will get a nice correction, maybe the high 400s or low 500s? I'm sure we could go a bit higher here first but seems like I might be able to do better for a long term purchase.

So I guess with all the bulls and bears having taken sides over the past few days -- big surprise: more sideways. Another week of sideways wouldn't even surprise me at this point.

Nice panic buy from a large investor.

Hehe, yeah that's a nice long shadow on that candle. There's definitely some buying pressure here, we're just at a resistance level. This looks like a pretty natural pullback, haven't even made it to the .382 on any of the exchanges. No panic selling here.

Well, $590 was one of my targets if we were to fall from the $620 level. Do you guys think it will hold? Otherwise i think we could double bottom in the $550 area. But I'm hoping $590 holds.... Undecided

Wow team, you all must really be depressed to refuse to write anything in the midst of a 2000 coin Chinese pump (which doesn't even get us close to where we were, yesterday, but still). Cheer up!!

Unfortunately looks like the bounce may already be failing. Seems we may go back to retest the low from last night/this morning. I'd like to be bullish, as I am all in, but that drop yesterday caught me off guard. Undecided

OKCoin (mainland) seems to have detached from Huobi (it is ~12 CNY lower now, used to be only 203 CNY apart) and has very sparse order book.  Its volume has recovered (~43 kBTC yestertday Jul/24), but that is still at the low end of its former range, and very low for a "dumping day".  Is it on its way to closure?

Why would you suggest closure? Aren't they launching a separate USD-facing site with a separate order book? I think part of the detachment has to do with the fact that OKcoin seems to have been driving price action on the last couple moves. Huobi is dragging its feet, just as the western exchanges often do in relation to China. Volume was low across all exchanges on that dip.

Are we seriously sitting here debating why we dipped less than 3%. Man I remember when no one even noticed 3% in either direction. Now it's cause for great debate and speculation.
A lot of people are concerned because their fully leveraged long positions on bitfinex come closer to their margin calls each day. Most people expect a bubble to happen magically as well.

Fair enough on both counts. I was never convinced that we'd launch into a bubble based on the 2013 log trend -- especially because everyone expected it. I still stay long (unleveraged) though, as I still expect somewhat of a "fakeout" that fleshes out some of these (failed) bubble expectations. I see LOTS of accumulation in the $600s and very little has been redistributed. Either we start seeing big dumps (much bigger than the 200~ dumps and 200~ ask walls) in the relatively near future, or we are forming a base for a good run-up (do not read "bubble").

What do you think, guys? Are we breaking out here? I got excited with the move off $580~ but momentum seems to be dying down. I had pinned $595 as a key resistance. Interesting that we bounced right off it. Next target $620, but I'm beginning to think this will fail.
