This feels like capitulation.

You can sense the despair on r/Bitcoin. the permabulls are starting to question themselves lol

everywhere, on r/bitcoin r/bitcoinmarkets and on the speculation forum here
Everybody's confused by what's happening, I certainly am.
Don't you think this whole situation is stupid?
Someone posts fake news on some Chinese blog, Chinese idiots panic, the rest of the exchanges follows, the news are confirmed to be fake, scared sheep keep selling...

Meh..

Zoom out.
Doesn't look bad from this perspective Wink Still, I don't get why people follow FUD.

objectively we are in a b*** market.

To everyone who read this as "objectively we are in a BEAR market", that is not what wetroof is saying. This statement is a joke. Literally. b*** could be bull or it could be bear. Interesting to notice how everyone who has replied to this post this far has read it as bear though...
Could be bullshit as well Smiley

^ If this was bullish news the price would've gone up before the news became public.

Tweets are not news.  They are rumors.

Agree ... and we should not just follow every rumor that we hear ... or read..

As for now... price is upredictable as it was before

And the price seems very predictable. It has been going down for months.
Yes, down because of thieves like Karpeles. After the correction in December btc slowly went up and stabilised at ~$800, and then came the Gox shutdown, and wild FUD fest.
The corrections are easier to predict than some fat asshole runing away with milions and not being arrested for it. Until this problem is resolved we won't go up much.

Could be a tripple-ish bottom
Don't look for a pattern here, this is a FUD correction, not a typical one created by lack of price support. The same as when people found out Karpeles stole their money. Nobody can predict something like that.

i disagree. Imo it was very much predictable (i predicted it Grin). there is no price support, and even less pumping going on. volumes are shit, nobody is rushing to buy bitcoins, everyone is on an observation phase. so we're going down until some other whale decide to pump the price a little, just to avoid crashing back to 400. but you can clearly see that slow down pattern ever since the ATH was reached. there was no genuine capitulation yet. Everybody still thinks sub600$ is cheap. i call it BS.
So you think this fall would've happened even if there was no Chinese FUD twice this week (each taking us lower)?

Anyone still holding please drop your drawers and bend over.

What's that supposed to mean??

better sell now.  Cheesy
Why would I sell? Because the Chinese started this? Why should I care what they do? Bought coins when they were ~$100, if they go below 200 I might consider selling. If you believe in bitcoins, hold Smiley

I don't get why unsubstantiated news is affecting us so much... this news is UNCONFIRMED.... other than by the herd of sellers I guess.
Either way, its not the end of bitcoin, we were doing just fine without china at 250+ and its been a year since then... bitcoin is worth way more.

Also... won't everybody have to BUY on huobi to get out of there if they can't get fiat out or in?
The answer is simple: because most people are dumb, easily manipulated, easily scared, unsure of what they want to achieve and so on.

interesting, at what value  people will think the bitcoin  story is over and will mass dump everything?
200$? 100$?

Good question. I think 380 is psychologically important and below 200 would probably be a decision point for even hardened hodlers

Depends when they got in. For hardened HODLers who bought in at $800-1200, what's the point? Might as well sit it out and see what happens.
If bitcoin falls below $200 will mean the last 7 months of technological development and cash invested by companies just went down the drain. A new technology can't simply go back a year and pretend nothing happened. It will either gain acceptance and raise in price or fail to gain user support and disappear. Technnology that slowly loses support is a dead one.
To clarify bitcoin is gaining support, even if it falls to $300 it will still be worth more than last year, no need to wory Smiley

Let me guess .. the dip is again based on some chinese story?
Is this the chinese version of 1001 stories?

Market correction + China ban. I wouldn't worry about it. Anything over $480 is really good imo
There is no "China ban" their government already stated that there won't be a BTC ban, they want people to trade, the banks are just backing off.
Don't repeat FUD.

China Bans Brandy ? Cheesy

http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/business/2014-01/22/content_17249409.htm

"France's second-biggest distiller Remy Martin can no longer count on the Chinese New Year, usually the best time of the year for a sales boost, for a bonanza this Spring Festival because of the government's crackdown on extravagant spending."
Good one, "The campaign to promote morality in China is expected to continue to adversely affect the consumption of ultra-premium products" - because old brandy is every drunkard's booze of choice Cheesy

 Undecided

That's why it's called a crash.

I wouldnt call this a crash.

480 is a crash. .
Yup - this is just traders selling and people who bought above $600 panicking. The rest holds Smiley

They banned crypto because they want to make their own, which means they know its potential.
This is a great advertising and some small banana republic wouldn't influence the market anyway. They can't even deal with their own drug lords Cheesy

I know that you are very skeptical of bitcoin's longterm success. If you have the time, you may want to watch the video by Ted Nelson. He coined the term "hypertext" and "hypermedia" in 1963. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ted_Nelson
Video link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3CMucDjJQ4E

I watched the video yesterday.  Yes, it is a very nice presentation.

It's good that he avoids the exaggerated sales hype of most bitcoin enthusiasts.  However it seems he has been listening from one ear only, as he barely mentions some of the problems, or omits them altogether.  Like the impossibility of correcting mistakes or thefts.

But, well, you can't expect an old man to properly understand such a new thing, can you?  Wink

At one point he says that bitcoin is great because it has no rich bankers buying out government.  Is he aware of KnC buying their way into the Bitcoin Foundation, and "electing" their investor/friend Brock Pierce to the board of directors?

Corruption is always there and will be as long as the resources are limited. It was here even before we had money, so whether we are dealing with USD or BTC doesn't matter.

A 1k dump at 417.

Really, that is all you need to know about the market for the last few months.

+1

Why did you sell your coins? Some people dumped so I thought it's the end of bitcoin and dumped too.
Why did you buy more? I saw some people buying, so I thought a pump is on the way.

It was 1 seller, across 4 consecutive orders.  Too fast to be multiple sellers.
Looks like failed to start a panic. I wonder if he starts buying back or just backs away.

I'm not going to shout manipulation and conspiracy, but the regular ~$1000 dumps on stamp thoroughout September look really strange.
Events like that were usually related to some big news like blockchain bugs, silkroad closure, gox and so on. I think this is the first time since I got into Bitcoin that such dupmps are happening without any background story.

On the other side of things.. Why would whales (traders) leave BTC market? There is a huge amount of money to be made in BTC so why leave.
They aren't leaving, just selling now to buy more later. Most people want to have as much BTC as possible and the way to do it is to buy as cheap sa possible.
Most of the people who sold below $400 will eventually buy back.

Wrong. Most people want to have as much fiat as possible. They see bitcoin only as a tool to produce fiat, if it fail to do so, they'll simply leave it and forget it.

What is a better investment than bitcoin? Even with the recent drop it's still worth over 3 times more than a year ago.
That's why people who sold will buy back, the only question is when.

Quote from: aclass on October 04, 2014, 03:29:48 PM
Wrong. There is really lots and lots of money to be made in crypto. One will only fail if one is not big enough to play or skilled enough to win.
That's right!
