We saw a 30$ dip on Gox earlier. If a crash was underway it would have happened then. We quickly recovered though, so I dont think we'll see another 20-25% dip till we'll be kissing 500$.

All the bears, who didn't catch the train at 350 or less, are now building a narrative of a 'big risk' of the goverment shutting down Bitcoin, as if it was feasible. My guess is absolutely nothing will happen from government side as a result of the hearing. Politics and law-making takes time, and everyday the Bitcoin-infrastucture and knowledge is growing. No politicians will want to attempt shutting down Bitcoin as it would be widely covered (resulting in bad PR), and there really is no legimate reason for trying to do so. + they would likely fail.

So, there is no scenario where politicians claim Bitcoin is used for terror and it's 'game over'. What a ridiculous claim.

Was just about to start a thread with a prize for picking the low but then I realised we can go back and edit posts and no "edited at xx:xx dd/mm/yyyy" gets added to the post. That's a pity.

Um, yeah it does. If you wait more than 10min to edit then your datestamp gets a little underline. If you hover your cursor over it, the last date of edit pops up.

I'll illustrate this in 11 minutes or so.  Smiley

I do a thread then once we clear this up. You'll have to explain this to me exactly though so I can avoid cheats.

Basically what I was going to do is this:

Thread title: Guess the low 16-17th november

rules:
1. low time period refers to 16th 00:00:01 to 17th 23:59:59 and the lowest price at gox in that period.
2. Only one entry per person and no edits to your post except within the forum defined 10 minutes
3. In the case of two identical predictions the first posted will be accepted.
4. Predictions after 17th 06:00:00 are invalid.
5. All times are gmt.
6. Predictions to have 4 decimal places
7. In the case of two predictions one higher, one lower but equidistant from the low the lower will be the winner.

Any other gotchas I've left out? Any changes? I'm only gonna put .1 on the line but it's better that a kick in the hole.

I guess you need to establish the time zone.

Bitamp is higher than Gox, that is usually bullish, isn't it?

Does it mean that the value of being stuck with fiat on gox is higher than the value of fiat on Bitstamp?

It only means that the fiat arrived really late @ stamp
A few are still waiting (transferred more then a week ago).

I'll wait till something happens with BTCChina. Hopefully enough bulls push the price above BTCChina levels and some clever whales cash out with big arbitrage profits.
Panic selling starts -> whales can buy cheap goins again -> double win

Buying now is more risky than fucking a street hoker without a condom.

This, we are in dangerous times right now with exchanges out of sync

And here I am thinking that exchanges are in sync for the first time in a long while. Boy I'm stupid.

It's uncanny how the western exchanges are leading the price rise this time. China is lagging along. I'm guessing the hype cycle around bitcoin is already dying down in China, while it's still raging in the western countries.

Brainwallet? If you have a easy password , it might be a bot who scans those addresses.
Also , low chance of getting them back.

Oh wait, bummer. It is not a brain wallet. For some reason I labelled the address "Brain Wallet" a long time ago, but it is not. It's a completely normal address in my wallet. So it does not have a specific password that differs from the rest of the addresses in my wallet, which still holds bitcoins. Only makes it weirder.

If we remove the possibility of collision , I'm afraid I have no clue on this.
You should post in the technical section ....edit - you did that.

Just sent 0.0001 to the same address to check if it would still automatically forward to the other address. It didn't: https://blockchain.info/da/address/1CMMBYkiB3AVXbysaYuFEepSJTVRggFaNm.

Well, 0.0001 is the tx fee so it's reasonable that a bot would wait for a larger sum to sweep the address.

Is there any way your wallet.dat may have been compromised?

Theres always a chance I guess, but I don't understand why the other addresses in the wallet hasn't been swept then. So that wouldn't make sense IMO.

And why didn't you write there that it's a brain wallet? If the phrase is too simple, it's easily cracked. OK, let's close it here for now because of off-topic. But why move it to reddit (I don't have an account there and don't care to join for now), and not just open a new thread here?

Thanks for caring Cheesy I did open a thread here and one person replied. I corrected it. It is not a brain wallet, but a normal address like the rest in my wallet. I labelled this address "Brain wallet" long ago for reasons unknown, therefore the confusion. I registered on reddit today for this purpose since I'm willing to pursue solving this issue. 0.9 BTC is a significant value for me, so I'm just pursuing my options.

Strange, isn't it? Why would people be happy when their wealth is growing, you would never thought they would be.

It's just funny to see the psychological change. How money can influence people negatively. I'd say most here have made a nice profit from Bitcoin, so it's funny to see how people turn from one moment to another. Some would call it greed.

Oh ya were just going to go zag straight back into the bull market from 550 to >1250 and set a new ath after the downtrend from 1250 to 550 on the down MACD with all trend lines broken. That is exactly how this works...

Well, I think the way it is suppose to work was that this was all an obvious bull trap. We were suppose to go down after that huge pennant formed yesterday near the lows. But then we went higher. Then, we were suppose to go lower at the 4 hour resistance 200sma. But then we consolidated and went higher.

Now next resistance is 1000 and then the lower top before the last correction.

So, when does this bull trap end and the bear market continue?

Because right now it keeps going up when its not suppose to.

People who think Bitcoin is supposed to go either up or down at a certain point don't understand the principle of supply and demand.

Vlad Putin (Poo Tin) has said today he wants to build the biggest army in the world and Russia will build 1000's of new tanks and war ships.  He also said he does not believe in the validity of human rights.  All this sparked by the events in Ukraine, in the last 2 weeks.

http://rt.com/news/putin-address-military-russia-125/

WW3 soon!  Buy !!! Sell  who cares ?

In the event of WW3 what will happen to BTC ?

Same a Syria but on a much bigger scale probably, a backlash so big it scares the shit out of the powers that be and they back pedal to a peaceful solution at record speed. Global communication is a much more powerful thing than anyone expected and even trying to mess with those communications would cause riots (happened already with ACTA and equivalents).

Russia is very very different from Syria.

You're talking about a country that has made gays illegal and sent greenpeace hippies to a prison in Siberia. They just don't give a shit, and have been ruling with an iron hand for as long as memory serves. Also, if you take a look at the Ukraine videos, you'll see the level of violence is way above that of other protests around the world.

Your point being Russia is worse than Syria?

The movement originated on btcchina. How do you feel about this?

Maybe the answer to this is coming soon........

BTC China told CoinDesk it is expecting to reinstate deposits in RMB soon. Bobby Lee said he is now working with another third party payment company to try and reinstate RMB pricing, and is hoping to make an announcement on the Weibo account in the next few hours.

This will now be the firm’s third payment provider relationship inside a week. Lee brushed off worries that the new relationship could also be placed in jeopardy by PBOC’s most recent move.

“If this keeps happening, ten times later, will I keep going? I don’t know. I can’t predict the future. But for now we’re going to try one more time, to see,” he said.

Looks like Chinese people will have to find other ways to get their hands on Bitcoin than Chinese exchanges in the future. I don't see any reason why the Government wouldn't ban the next thirdparty BTCChina hooks up with.
