I agree, 100ish is the most logical target, from which it will hopefully resume growth.

Is it me or today's bubble deflates exactly the same way as the big april one ?
It would mean $90-$100 resistance is key, like the $50 was for the "big" bubble. If it holds, both bubbles should be called over. If not the bears win.

Yes, small rally from the $110 low, hit twice, not broken. Next stop $120 ?

Holding too. With that much depth in the bids, and still increasing, it won't go low enough to make it worth the risk of shorting.

Sentiment question: Is there anyone on this thread who has enough money?

I would define "enough" as:

- Bitcoin stash's price appreciation exceeds daily expenses by a factor of X
- Therefore no need to work
- Cannot spend it all even if spends 24/7.

SINGULARITY.

I'll soon post to my diary, how you can have unlimited money and give unlimited money to all your friends.

That's a very interesting question, I would make it into its own thread before it gets lost here.

The $160 wall got eaten a few hours ago, no one cares, price is idling around $157-$158.
I'm seriously wondering who is buying these days.

Anyway back to walls... no walls left standing after the storm, both the bid and ask sides have been levelled and look like nice slopes.

Holding $120 will be quite bullish. People bought back in hoping for another get rich quick rally to $200+, and now they're selling it back to those that actually want bitcoins.

Theres a lot of people who bought at 50-60$ and didnt sold. And now they see that price is falling and they can gain over 2milions $ by selling at 120 wall.
Excellent. The sooner they get rid of their bitcoins the better. Bitcoin needs serious backers, not pigs and trolls looking for quick profit.

This is awful. So many bad news in such a short time, no wonder the price is tanking. It's like 2011 all over again...

Manipulators.

I guess we'll be playing chicken with the small walls at 100 and above, maybe hit 110-120 but I don't see enough momentum to go further. 90 should also hold for the weekend, panic sellers have sold already. A very boring weekend indeed.

After that, I don't know. We're not out of the bear market yet like many (myself included) hoped during the runup to $140-$160. Was it the mega-bulltrap of the 2013 bubble ? Only time will tell.

China to the rescue... in my opinion cctv story is a big deal.. btc search volume is exploding there... http://index.baidu.com/main/word.php?word=%B1%C8%CC%D8%B1%D2

That Baidu search volume has data from 2008, which is impossible for Bitcoin. So the "exploding" part is meaningless.
Isn't there a better search term in Chinese which actually means "Bitcoin"?
I don't see any volume in 2008... the earliest hit is in July 2011.
(Disclaimer - I only looked at the main chart and I can't read Chinese)

China has had a HUGE impact on the price of gold, and the American Dollar.  If they are considering holding BitCoin by the government that would be enormous.  If it is Chinese Phishermen, not as big, but still big.
Seconded.

Also, while the average Chinese is not very rich, there are lots of insanely righ people in China.

Culture wise, the various Chinese people I know seem to like cash, savings, don't trust the govt, and love gambling.
The government puts severe restrictions on the money flow in and out of China.
Bitcoin is perfect for them.

That being said, we better raise the block size because the blockchain is about to make make SatoshiDice background noise.

I feel so sorry for those guys that were waiting for 70. I feel even more sorry for those guys that are now waiting for 105.

i waited and am still waiting for 70, if we never get there, oh well.

Why on earth do you think we will go back to 70 any time soon?
$70 woud be very bearish now as it is < precious low. Might as well wait for <50 in this case.
$85-90 is not out of the question, without invalidating the general bullish trend.

I understand most charts, but this one is completely beyond me?

Could anyone kindly explain, would be appreciated! Looks interesting lol

It's the bid and ask walls.

If you go here http://bitcoinity.org/markets you'll see it in 2d.

Notice the wall at 125, you can see the ridge in the 3d graph. Those are snapshots of the wall over the last hour. Very little change at the moment. It's taking the 2d walls, making it 3d, and lining them to give you a differnet view.

So it projects that the price will top out around $125 and start to fall after that?
Not necessarily. It will fall when sentiment turns around and people stop buying / start selling. It will be hard to get past $125 yes but so was $100, $110, $120... so in the end walls mean nothing.

Right now most TA hints at a correction - we just can't keep going up, up, up, we're overbought. But the low volume skews the timeframe as of which it will happen. It may just hold for another few days as new money flows in and latecomers buy on the Chinese news, taking us to $130 or maybe higher. However the longer we stay overbought the harder it will correct.

I think our $2 million guy managed to know how to buy with multiples 999btc buys at the high price..
They seem to always be placed at .89, .90, .91, under round prices.
I don't think he's really buying. Some got partially sold into but they keep popping in and out.
Looks like a pump. Not sure why.

BTW, what does everyone think the top will be before we dive downwards again?

I say 180
I would feel even more confident about my bitcoin bubble assumptions if the price did not exceed $145 again before the final bottom.

I pretty much agree with you again. If we go again to $160 I would be puzzled. Heck, I think the normal thing would be not going over $125 before the final bottom.

I also like $125'ish for the top ... I just don't trust this rally at all and am not convinced it's got much more life in it

I think $124 was the top. Rocket is out of fuel, and even the manipulator(s) could not tow it.
Now heading back to a lower orbit Smiley

I wouldn't consider bitcoin as a "safe" heaven, but the alternatives have turned sour in the last few days/months...

Gold and silver are down
stocks just took a beating (2008 in the making ?)
fiat is being constantly inflated
commodities are up but for investing

so probably a lot of investors are getting out of the stock market at the moment and while they won't go all in we may see some now money testing the waters over the next few weeks.

Why is everyone wanting in at 50 ? Either 2 things :
if 50 indeed holds it's not going to the low 50s but it will settle higher. So what, are you going to panic buy in the 60s when you realize you bids for cheap coins didn't get filled ?
if it falls (more likely), this will be an epic selloff as all those who bought have an "oh crap" moment, and there's not much support until 30 where the same story applies.

In either case, 50 won't be the bottom.

Just a random observation from blockchained :

I can't help but to notice 2 things :
* we just touched and bounced off the dotted line - long-term trendline - which has provided good support since day 1.
* "mining factor" is almost at an all time low, and has been dropping like crazy lately.

Thoughts ?

Someone bought in few days like what, 50k bitcoins? Their are hanging over us like guillotine.

Those were obviously bought by new users sending them immediately to their wallet.  Roll Eyes

Exactly Smiley And even if it was the case, they'll quickly make their way back to the exchanges when the trend reverses.

Well, this pump is starting to have an effect as smaller buys are coming in to push the price up.
Manipulation is obvious when you see it happen live, but let's face it on the hourly / daily chart traders will just see an important psychological resistance broken with high volume and get bullish.

(I assume that anyone with this kind of resources available has an agenda - if they were really just tossing fiat around without a plan, they would have gone broke a long time ago)

This is a cool morning. I wonder how the Americans will react when they wake up (It is 4.35 am EST). We might see some selling which would probably be healthy.

Most likely they will get reminded banks are closed on weekends and they can't buy anything until Monday...
At the rate this is going I have no idea what the price will be on Monday. Even the megadump taking place now is not having any effect. This is insane.
