slightly moving up in last 2 hours, 1600 wall on 136.

Not sure where you getting your data from, but I see no wall at 136 or anywhere above 121

There's a ~1100 wall that pops up every once in a while at either 135 or 136. It just disappeared again.

It's funny to see how the same tactic of the manipulators always works. They start a panic sell with a big sell and then start a panic buy with a big buy. Works every time!

There won't be any panic buying this time, though.  Embarrassed

If you are selling coins, putting up an ask wall is just doing the exact same thing in the other direction.  And you get to absorb some of the bounce back. (Noob here, correct me if I'm wrong)

Yeah but if the market just crashed 25%, you have 200k USD of BTC on MtGox, your first thought is "Put up 1.5k ask walls at $115 $118 $120?". You're just deterring a bounce back. If you're panic selling, you'd just sell them. And within 60 seconds of the coin dump? Who see's a crash and walls up the bottom? The size and aggressiveness of those ask walls isn't from people looking to sell into the bounce back. You want it to bounce back, your BTC is worth more. The only thing they do is help keep the price down.

I don't care to speculate what they're there for, I only know that when they show up, the price goes down. A manipulated crash is still a crash.

just like the wall at 121 ( the wall that killed the bounce back ) this wall is purely manipulative, a few good hits and these walls will fall.

someone is using his scary walls to buy your asks on the low.

I'm really angry about all this. Bitcoin is such a good idea, to be ruined by such human incompetence. No wonder the financial world seems unconcerned about bitcoin, we will destroy ourselves.

Bitcoin's not going to be ruined. It's just going to lay low for awhile and sort some of its shit out. It'll be back someday, better than ever.

you are likely to be left behind and will be out of sync with the rest of the Bitcoin network.

what the F?

Basically this is just early warning that the same fork that happened in March will happen again if you don't update.   Only difference this time is that the old version fork will be the one abandoned, hence you will be left behind if you don't upgrade or do the work around.   It is just a block size limit increase.  This is not an update of the 1MB hard limit, it is a lifting of the soft limit, which I think is currently 250KB.

does that mean they won't be able to spend their coins?

more lost coins?

They'll still have their wallet.dat. Even if they send their coins to an address not recognized by the new fork, the network won't confirm it when they do upgrade.

We've had crashes on Fridays afternoons (pst) before. I guess it depends on whether or not the people who bought between $79-90 want to risk going to sleep holding bitcoins.

It is getting quiet in my home office - no Clark Moody ding-ding-O-meter chattering away.

Despite the calm, I don't envy big money and their advisors that are holding maybe 25% losses in just three days, with a potential goxlag-blinded Black Monday sell off. That unfortunate group knows that the first one to sell gets the tastiest bids and the last one to sell books the biggest client loss. They cannot sell during the weekend without huge slippage.

That's why I immediately sold what I'd bought in the $80s when we went back over $90. One single whale dump will be enough to get things rolling downwards again.

46. Post 2018481 (copy this link) (by underground_) (scraped on 2020-04-04_Sat_10.55h):

Yes, but those very whales have been taking recent weekends off. On the other hand, if this is really the biggest and baddest capitulation of 2012, 2013 and probably all of 2014, then yes we could crash big this evening or this weekend.

Because I plan only one set of relatively low risk and highly profitable (should events unfold as planned) round-trip trades per capitulation, I really don't have to pay attention to the embedded day trading opportunities.

Well, things seem to be going exactly as you've been saying for the last few weeks, so you'll probably take much more profit than I will. But as we saw when someone placed a $2.1M market order to drive the price from $220-240, whales are capable of acting just as irrationally and unpredictably as anyone else. So long as there are entities with 10k+ btc it seems risky to me to be holding btc for any significant length of time during the start of a downtrend. But, I'm probably just rationalizing for the fact that my biggest weakness is that I can't sit still.

Thanks for posting, btw. You've been very helpful.

Going in is probably dangerous right now. I think the rally will lose steam somewhere between $100-120, then fall back down dramatically once the panic buyers start panic selling. That's how it happened in 2011, at least.

The house always wins, so true.

And in a few hours these fools will be panic selling again. An 80% price drop over the course of a few days can have a funny effect on people.

I'd prefer it if they nudge the 120 wall first... I need to sell before I can buy.

I think that whoever is putting the wall at $110 is trying to get the price up to $120-$125 so he can get rid of the last dump of coins he bought at a higher price before the value started going down. We should see some movement as soon as we get to a new high point. ($120 or $125 or whatever it might be) - As the price rises to ~$119 he is going to move the wall from $110 to $115 in order to put even more buying pressure on the market, so that he can get the price over his desired value.

It's not going to make it that far, though. People are becoming wise to the plan.

I bet he got tired of waiting on a bear to come along, but they are either scared or hibernating, so he was the person behind the recent rise from 116 to 122, which was about the same amount of BTC the wall was. I guess a quick check of the depth would sort of confirm this.

But the wall didn't diminish in that time.
