Nope, actually got into BTC during the Silkroad 1.0/double digits era.

I had the impression there was a lot more media attention generally. And news searches for "bitcoin" are double what they were last time:
If you filter for a narrower time scale, it becomes clear that it's nowhere near the late nov/early dec bubble.
Currently, bitcoin has the same level of media attention as when it was in the 300s. Mostly from econ/spec sources discussing 2014 picks. In a few days it might be even substantially less.

I have a feeling about this.
I believe that:
1. the get-rich-quick sheeple are silently dumping
2. the bots are from coinbase/bitpay (because they have a lot of interest in keeping the price really stable) and from some fiat whales who are silently getting in without slippage.
3. new get-rich-quick sheeple + early dumpers who want back in - they are not buying and waiting on the sidelines instead because April 2013.
It is a nerve grinding game. Anything could happen in the immediate.
Hmm.. you're probably right.

Could you show us how you have drawn your ATH resistance line where it is shallow enough for it to be at 3400 currently?
By my quick reckoning jonoiv is about right...
http://i.imgur.com/0zxIidF.pngEDIT: noticed that jonoiv's is steeper than I thought but still closer to ~2850 than ~3400.
If you connect the Nov 30 top (ATH on most non-Chinese exchanges) with the Jan 6 top on Huobi the line gets to about 3400 CNY on the daily. This line also accurately predicted the top of the Mar 4 bull trap on Huobi.
edit: This is on

I don't see anything about PBOC in this article. There is a reporter covering how FXBTC has pulled a gox.
''the central bank allowed free trading, refers to a personal transaction between similar stamps occasional transaction, rather than through the trading platform of large transactions. Because in the trading platform, trading capital is completely opaque, illegally occupied the platform, even trading platform ever-present risk of foot is equal to social stability left a time bomb.
Meanwhile, for a variety of exchanges, the State Department policy is very clear, that must be cleaned.According to Article 20 of the "People's Bank of China Law", no unit or individual shall not print or sell tokens bills to replace the circulation of RMB in the market. Violators central bank should be ordered to stop illegal and impose a fine of 200,000 yuan.''

The article is likely PBOC sponsored like most Caixin bitcoin related news, conveniently released when bitcoin was about to touch a major trend line.

This is crazy. What is the justification for forcing someone to forfeit coins after 5 years? And how the absolute fuck do they intend to enforce that? After 5 years you can easily claim you forgot your private key, or rotate your coins to a new address, or anything of that nature.
And now you can officially be a criminal for posting a combination of characters onto the internet. Wonderful
It's regarding exchange/third party accounts, not cold storage private coins. Reasoning behind it could be because people die and whatnot.

Lesson to be learnt:
Don't use that stinking shit they call "money".
They'll rip you off longterm.
Short fiat, long everything else.
Fiat is not meant to be hodled.. it's meant to be invested or consumed.
Hoarders who stall economic growth are punished for a reason.

As if holding fiat stalls economic growth. As if fiat is not designed to steal from the uneducated who don't know what else to hold than fiat.
It's not that difficult to protect yourself from about 3% inflation. If one can't manage that they are doing it all wrong.
For the average person it is a lot safer and easier to protect yourself from about 3% inflation (at least in Western countries) than to speculate in something crazy like bitcoin.

1. Most people cannot. Even most university graduates cannot.
2. The real inflation is an order of magnitude higher than 3%
1. Any monkey throwing darts at a list of stocks and other capital assets can even get higher yields than that.
2. Typical gold bug/libertarian argument. Yeah, stay away from that risky fiat and buy gold/silver, even though you will probably get slaughtered more holding precious metals over the next couple of years.

It's so odd. At 688 they don't buy but when someone starts pumping those same people panic buy at 695 only to see the price drop back to 688 after that. And then they panic sell of course.
It's always the same. Why do people still fall for it?
Most of the time those panic buy spurts are due to bots anticipating a break out. So, that type of behavior is actually to be expected.

PS.. price up $10 in the last few minutes.. but on very low volume. No bidwalls to support it ATM.
A lot of people here probably don't even trade and just hodl cold storage coins hoping for the next bubble.

what is happening @BTC-e shows us how fucked up these business owners they can get sometimes, in a normal fair world, the Admins notice the unusual activity from this bot and they coordinately ac, one way is by blocking the API access temporarily to prevent the bot from losing all the owner's money, I am sure the owner would be really thankful and the positive impression would be felt and reflected on all customers, but because this is Bitcoin and BTC-e we are talking about, they don't give a fuck and they are sitting happily watching the poor guy losing all this kind of money.
Are there such "lifeguards" in the common stock exchanges? I would guess that their "terms of service" say that they will not be responsible for client screw-ups, not even to the extent of refunding their fees or blocking them. If they did help some clients, it would be hard for them to draw the line ("sorry, but your mistake does not qualify for refund because it was not stupid enough").
The actual stock exchange wouldn't care at all, but the user's broker would most likely notice the odd behavior and call up their client to see what's up.

well mining at this price is good since usa miners have to pay income tax on bitcoin mined at the price they are mined at.
so while everyone is panicking i am continue mining!
with the latest mining gear we appear to be good for mining into the beginning of next year.
maybe first few months of next year unless some new mining gear hits.
this decline in bitcoin, gold, and silver started as the dollar went up .
we are at our third peak in five years and each peak has resulted in a crash of the dollar.
it is possible we are at the run-up to the final crash of the dollar.
i heard a rumor when blood is in the streets then is time to buy!
The federal reserve is ending QE while the ECB is starting QE-like programs. As the euro has a 57.6% weight in DXY the dollar is unlikely to crash any time soon.

$10 a bitcoin still makes it way stronger than most currencies. People forget how insane it is that our coins are worth $350 each.
Market cap is more important in this regard than unit price. At $10 per bitcoin it can be manipulated by just a handful of millionaires. This is not possible with regular currencies, so calling it ''stronger'' is far-fetched.

Bitcoin explosion is in the air.
The volumes at Bakkt are broken almost daily. If we assume that the volume on a coin market cap is 90% fake and Bakkt represents true volumes, then Bakkt is now more than 1 percent of the total volume on market cap. Here Bakkt comes to the point that they need so many bitcoins that there will be a shortage on the market. It is only a quarter to two in the afternoon and the trade in America has yet to start and Bakkt is already at 10 million volume. Today or tomorrow, Bakkt will cover the 25 million bitcoins. That is equal to 1 / 8000th part. Enough to make the market explode. I expect the bitcoin to be at $ 25,000 within a month. Then another 50,000.
Now maybe. the moment to buy in
A friend just send me this true what’s app from one or other Belgian link, I don’t know (can’t provide) the true source, but what you thinking about this??
#hopium.....
I hope the BAKKT demand will be the flash effect on the spot crypto market, the provided information is important for the market makers. For covering the 25 million bitcoins from the current price, I expect a huge push in the BTC price. In a month, we will know the reason for exploding if it ever happens.

Chart
On the daily chart we have some resistances inside of the blue channel which are not so important as the weekly and the blue channel but it corresponds nicely with the red line which represents the smaller trendline inside of the blue channel. There are the orange and the yellow daily 20 and 50 Moving Averages on the third chart, very close with the red line which can act as a resistance before the final and major weekly challenge.
It perfectly touched the red line resistance twice.
BTC price touched the mentioned resistance levels but bounced back immediately. The recent price is around the $7500 and I expect one more push to the dip levels for the double bottom trading pattern.
