Is Gox a safe place to trade if so, has anyone actually got their money from them when they withdrew?.
I am waiting for my verification to go through, its been about 2 weeks. Bastards will let you deposit coins, but wont let you take them out without verification. Is there anything i can do about this?

Use Coinbase. Far more reliable since it's backed by American venture capital.

It's reliable if you have a credit card and a US bank account, particularly Chase. It instantly verifies Chase accounts and you can set up instant-buy if you have a credit card. Once your first transaction goes through, you should immediately send an email asking to be whitelisted, or they may flag your future transactions for fraudulent, high-risk activity and ultimately may cancel your entire transaction. I've had it happen to me several times, like that one night we went from 800s to high 900s and I was pretty upset about that. Besides the account flagging, everything else is pretty streamlined.

my prediction we will go to 860 and see minimal buys and selling pressure build, then once its clear we aren't going any higher, we will fall and break the 1 month trend and bottom at 720 701 698.95

that or..

we inch over 1000, a sell-off to 900 show strong support we start trading above 1200, it seems the higher bitcoin goes the higher demand becomes, suddenly we are going paradigm shift mode to 32,000$ coin

so in other words, we're either going down or we're going up

i agree

There is an overstock of coins right now. Cheesy

It's going to be interesting to find out if overstock are able to hedge against the volatility.
If they are able to, then maybe there's hope for a larger adoption of bitcoin.
If not, and they end up with a significant loss, instead of the small gains they expected, the signal will be bearish.

You are aware they are selling their coins, right?

They ought to. They have to pay their suppliers with fiat money; what else could they do? I strongly believe though that they don't give up all their income in btc... It's not wise, nor profitable. Roll Eyes

the ceo guy said in an interview that the bitcoins are immediately(?) converted to fiat so they can pay their suppliers with fiat as you said. given the still volatile nature of bitcoins, they would probably wanna sell back at the value the products were purchased.

some of you guys panic selling are way too easily manipulated

it's so easy to hold. i mean it honestly boils down to opening a tab of netflix, ordering some pizza, and occasionally tabbing back to the exchanges/forum to see everyone jerk off over cheap coins and the following rebound

The MtGox chart is really depressing. I miss the good old days when the forum was full of train and moon pictures. 1-2 months in BTC world is like an eternity.
That's what I was seeing when i got onboard, got me addicted! Sigh... maybe some day, maybe some day it's upon us again.

next week

From which school though? A phd in buttology from, say, Harvard, is worth a lot more than one from University of Buttix Online.

i got mine from buttcoin institute of buttology. i did my dissertation on different train models for reaching the moon

WHy just gox do not die compleatly, it is agonying too long now causing price crashes.

this should be the last time anyone gets goxxed. i'd say this is effectively the end of gox and anyone who buys into it again if it ever gets bought up and refurbished is just asking to have their money taken away

ok ... that's it ... ccmf!

all in, enjoy Smiley

I still dont understand what will happen with all the goxing going around, but once that is clear the CCMF will start so hard.... for now the selling pressure is gone...

all the panic sellers have sold, all the hodlers have hedl, and all those looking for cheap coins got their chance to buy in. gox was bound to gox again so is anyone really surprised? we're cleared for CCMF afaik

Looking at http://www.scribd.com/doc/209050732/MtGox-Situation-Crisis-Strategy-Draft

"The cold storage has been wiped out due to a leak in the hot wallet."
   WTF does this mean?

im going to assume the hot wallet is just the opposite of cold storage and refers to the active wallets they were using for transfers
