why not use google authenticator to login to mtgox with your android phone Smiley

yes, and start punching in those private keys.
You know you can enable both at the same time to use them redundantly right?
The only time that I need my Yubi is to withdraw from the account.

Where you do enable Google Auth on the Gox site?  I can't see it under Security Center...

Ok, I'm a bit over this.   Either prove it (sign a message with an address holding most of your coins), or shut up about it.

Yes, but so what?  What's your point?   You seem to be annoyed that you didn't forsee that people would pump the price to $1000 (it's been on the cards since the start of the month), and now you just whinge every post when it goes higher.   Sorry buddy but it was your choice to sell, and you chose a bad time.  Such is life, learn from it.    Maybe you'll get a chance to buy back in later, maybe you won't, but next time, just hold Wink

You can't really be that much of an idiot to see that this is not a positive thing for Bitcoin. We want the value to grow organically, not because some bankers who bought all the bitcoins with their printing press decide to manipulate the entire Bitcoin market.

This has been the way of bitcoin since the start.  It's hardly ever been organic growth.  It has huge swings followed by periods of stagnation, that's just the way it is.  The only question now is where it will settle again.

I see a lot of posts from.... people, wanting it to drop back to $300 so they can feel all smart and buy everything they can.  Well sorry but you had your chance, and you missed it.   It'll probably drop back at some point, it always does, but I doubt it'll fall anywhere near there.  If you're lucky it'll drop to near where you sold so you can fix your mistake, but don't try and disguise your greed by getting all shitty at people pumping the price.  That's bitcoin, get used to it.

tl;dr, you fucked up, live with it.

Interestingly, I don't feel much fear, just indecision. And I came to the exchange after the April crash, so I was not through it the last time, but read quite a lot about it.
Take for example, the last hour. I woke up to 650. By the looks of it 500 was to be retested, so I set some buy orders there, and the market promptly jumped to 780!  Cheesy

I think I am going to cash out what I initially invested in direct bitcoin purchases and mining equipment, plus a small revenue bonus on top of that. The rest will be used to re-buy bitcoins at the next low.
That way I would recover everything what I could have lost, and will feel even more emotionally detached from my BTC holding.

Well your problem there is that you're trading and trying to predict the unpredictable.   I learned long ago that this is a bad idea (at least for me, as I'm not all that great at it).  All I do is hold, and occasionally accumulate where I see a bargain (like today).   We may well drop lower this weekend and it may well stay low for a few months, but sooner or later we'll get a new ATH.

Gather a number of coins you're happy with, and stick them somewhere safe.  You'll sleep much better at night not worrying about nightly swings Wink

Maybe he bought at $1200
Sold at $1228. Bought at $610. Sold at $950. Why didn't I wait to sell higher? Because it isn't going higher until it goes lower. I am waiting for the retards to come out of their delusion and stop trying to buy up thinking they are headed toward $3000 any time soon. Anyone thinking we are still going higher is still under the euphoria of the mania that has burst. That is all this is, that is why the nonsensical push three consecutive times in 36 hrs to go to $1000 - they really believe it is going higher when there are like 1000 people all blowing their money over and over again with expensive coins.

What you suggest to do now? Buy or wait?

yesterday I've tought to wait cause I was thinking that during the weekend (friday to monday)the price woud drop.....but now is not

There isn't one person here that can give any sort of rational answer to that.   The only consensus is that within some months, the price will be higher.   Buy now and wait it out whether it goes down or not, or wait until a clear trend is established so you don't have to see your investment worth less at some point.   The risk being you end up with less BTC.   Bitcoin will often do what no one expects, so trying to trade is just a gamble.   No one has ever realized a loss by buying bitcoins.   Many have given their money away in fear however, so my advise, is just buy and walk away for a few months.   It may go down from here, but it also may go up, and in my opinion, that is a bigger risk.

Great post dude Smiley

The significance of all this is that if we trade in a range for a few weeks it is megabullish. And right now it looks like we are going to (at worst) trade at a high range 850-1050 than a lower range 650-850.

Simply amazing. I expected more out of the bears honestly.

So I am contemplating to reduce/leave the forum for a few months. I have also other projects. Thoughts?

Sounds like a plan.

I really believe that Risto is seriously trolling in here. It's virtually IMPOSSIBLE to predict ANYTHING for sure into such a system like BTC. A serious prediction of ANY chaotic system (not one like we're observing here, which may as well be the mother of all chaotic systems) would have been in the timeframe of minutes or hours at max, not days; nor weeks.

ANY data provided and calculated may as well be proved as right, also as wrong. If he managed to make it based onto his calculations it's good for him and may as well define a brand new IQ entity by himself. I seriously salute him! But I don't think he did it only because of them. Luck is a special and important factor in this.

Just saying (if you want theoretical proof I can also support what I've just typed).

I have a special kind of mind, it is quite simple, but it can calculate monetary probabilities very well. Somebody else may choke on his numbers, or shortcircuit and SHOUT that it is impossible to predict anything with certainty. Sure it is. Still some people win in poker and others don't.

I have a simple model that shows (among others) that after bubble pop, as long as the price is 0.2 or more log-units over the trendline, it is not possible to sell at a profit in 1-6 months timeframe. It is quite sobering: by selling at $628 today, the buyback at a profit is guaranteed for many months to come.

Chances that the model ends up faulty (that despite their mutual differences, 2 previous bubbles have something intrinsic in common that the 3rd does not have) are 20-30%, which means that the odds are way in favor. With this kind of odds it is Kelly optimal to risk about 40% of your net worth.

Any doubts I had that you might have been as knowledgeable as you claim to be have just been washed away in one stroke.

Sadly your mind apparently cannot grasp the concept that in a chaotic, dynamic system, what happened in the past cannot be used to predict the future unless the circumstances are exactly the same.

Not to mention: it was far more likely that the two bubbles would show some mutual similarity (both being bubbles) than no similarity at all. But just because those similarities exist does not mean should be understood as anything more than stochastic noise; it could have just as easily been any other of the countless possible permutations that you would now be using to "guarantee profit".

I'm close to ignoring him to be honest.   He's the type that says very little with a lot of words, but I doubt his sincerity and skills.  And while he certainly spends a lot of time telling everyone how much money he has, I've seen no evidence of that.  I have however seen that picture of him posing in front of someone else's Rolls Royce and pretending it's his.

Maybe he has rich friends, but hey, there are a hell of a lot of new rich people in the world as of the last few months, many of us in this thread included.

I don't pander to ego generally.  It annoys me.  And it's often those who spend so long telling everyone how amazing they are that are end up being quite the opposite in reality.

Less big man talk, and if you want people to actually pay attention to what you say, give them a reason to.

I think I have said all. Under no circumstances will I write anything in this thread before it goes to $500. I have a castle to attend to meanwhile  Grin

I assume he was thinking that 500 was imminent, but it doesn't look like we will hear from him soon!

Rpietila is extremely confident in his opinions until they are wrong and then he quickly dismisses them without explanation.

So he has it in his head that we are going to go to 300-500 on this "bear" market. I think he is very short sighted as usually on these matters and he thinks I am in the "denial" phase. Of course, its hard to deny something that I know is a "possibility" which 300-500 is. Its just not a likely possibility without really bad news.

Rpietila is not a brilliant as many give him credit for, but the average IQ of the forum in general is at a level that is easily impressed. I think Rpietila thinks this will unwind like April and I just absolutely disagree. This feels completely different than April to me.

We'll see.  At least we both agree that we are headed to 10k soon enough.

At least we don't have to hear from him for a while, assuming he sticks to his word Smiley

Then you have balls of steel or enough money to not panic. The idea is you want to stick to buy and hold, so put yourself in a position where you won't feel the need to abandon your plan because you need to pay your bills or whatever. If you can buy and hold without panic even without having taken that profit first, and that's what you want to do, then my advice would not apply to you. Wink

Well it's mostly just because I've been around Bitcoin a long time, and I've been through this several times already.  After the second "crash" I find it just doesn't worry me as much anymore.  I have faith in the protocol long term, so the odd day/week/month of the price dropping or languishing doesn't really faze me.

Plus, I have a solid job and I'm not particularly in dire need of cash, so yeah that helps Cheesy

797 on coinbase

at 750, Coinbull is deemed a god and owns us all
+1

When i saw his post betting new low @ 750, i panic sell at 900 bought at 920 then sell again at 940 and waiting for his prediction before buying back again. Will be sending small tip to add on your winnings IF your prediction will come true.  Grin

Seriously?  Christ.  Huh Roll Eyes

did he even went through with his bet and escrowed his BTCs?  Shocked

Of course not.  However he will be sending us all the 1BTC directly if/when his target isn't met.

Apparently Cheesy

Sorry to all I was not faithful on fulfilling my BTC to escrow. Had a major issue yesterday, where I'm currently at was hit with the biggest snowstorm in over 10+years on top of artic vortex temperatures...

Hello?

CoinBull's back?

What's all this about the worst blizzard in 10 years Coinbull?

CoinBull what do you have to say for yourself?
My coins froze???
Got ya. Crash is happening. wonder who started it
Doesn't matter about the escrow of course. Our honesty doesn't rely on an escrow. If by tomorrow at 07:02:14 PM (GMT +1) the price has touched $750 on GOX I will send you 1 BTC. I expect you to send me 1 BTC if this has not happened. This is all as agreed yesterday. Thanks.

I'll just quote your quote here for confirmation.  Wouldn't want that post disappearing in a snowstorm or something Smiley

Someone just panic-market-sold c.200 coins on Gox to bring the price down to $900.  Who does that with such low volume?

Desperate people.

Hodling is stupid right now. Nothing but negative news on the horizon from China. Why wait until the end of the month?

LOL! i remember you shithole! you were stating the EXACT SAME BULLSHIT back in July at Bitcoin prices around 70$. "why not sell at 70$ when you know that 50$ will be reached?"

The SAME WORDING! LOL! Except of course the China part. Go f---- yourself.

Check my posts. I was one of the few screaming BUY BUY BUY last summer.

i remember your exact wording, your name and your dumb avatar. and YOU KNOW IT.

Just stick him on ignore like the rest of us.  Same goes for TheCoinBull after the last few days.

Should really be from the time he made his proposal. He said in his PM he leaves work and can reply to us in around 8 hours.

It's not so much about "should" as having clear terms for the escrow provider.
How about clock starts rite now 48 hours from now it will 750 on Gox, just has to hit it once even if only for a sec.

Address is in my sig Smiley

You'll have to contact everyone else for there's:

There is no "just talk" when it comes to making a bet. If you confirm that you really mean it - you mean it.

Matthew Wright got a scammer tag for something similar.

With that said, I wouldn't take any bet as a real thing until escrow was achieved. A person should stick to their word though.

He quoted T.Stuart's post indicating that he accepted the "gentleman's agreement" to send the 1BTC without escrow at the cutoff.

At the very least, he should get a scammer tag, as Matthew did.  Otherwise where's the consistency?

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=178336.msg4376376#msg4376376

Though as far as I can tell he's had an extra 24 hours over his originally stated cutoff anyway, so he's quite late paying up Wink

please everyone stop placing orders around 666 its freaky

I assume someone think's they're being clever and manipulating the price to ensure it sticks around $666.  Considering the amount of religious nuts out there, they probably think this will have some sort of negative effect on people's opinion of Bitcoin.   It's not the first time we've been stuck at this price.

Or not.  Who knows Smiley   Either way, won't make a difference.
