Oh my God. If this could really happen buddy all body holding bitcoin at the moment will be in a lot of dough and the price of bitcoin will string up in a slap of fingers. My question is that is this news direct from true source?

If the big banks release a successful coin, bitcoin's market value would probably crash pretty hard.

hypothetical outcome?

the coin itself would be used to make all transactions regarding fiat on the blockchain

the coin would be the base value whereas the fiat on top say USD (now masked as 0.01 UTS) may be a fraction of the coins value

example hypothetically - $1 USD is 0.01 of a utility settlement coin, this is used to process your USD payment transaction

success or not it will just be the way

BTC impact -  if there is a more informed public about "bank cryptocurrency" then its a matter of your choice between bank crypto or btc

whereas now it is FIAT or crypto

UTS - Utility Settlement Coin

One Coin to rule them all. One Coin to find them,
One Coin to bring them all and in the darkness bind them.

I love this thread. Rule of thumb. When the consensus is yelling "hodl", sell. When they yell "sell", hodl.

While everyone was yelling hodl yesterday I thought julian071 had made a mistake selling 40% of his stash to pay for a new bike. Now everyone's yelling sell I changed my mind and think he might have picked a good time to sell, and now's a good time to buy back.

It's at $967 right now. So what is there to worry about?
Thought it would be much worst when I got up this morning with all the fuss last night with China waking up to closed doors to their member's exchanges.
But then there is the Kraken thing to deal with now.
That issue with their users not being able to access their accounts resolved yet?
I would think that would have more of an impact on bitcoin prices then all the hot air coming out of this PBoC fud.
Just China trying to be the drama queen again. That is all I got to say about that. So I slept soundly last night knowing that the price would still be above $950 which everybody seems to think it will bottom out at with all that crap yesterday gucking up the bitcoin world.

Is it possible that the Chinese exchanges have been faking volumes even since the last talk with PBoC, which resulted in them starting to charge fees? That would help explain why this week's PBoC intervention hasn't had much of an impact.
I must agree with you on this one. Those Chinese were just trying to trick the West into believing what they want them to believe with more smoke and mirrors to get them in their own clutches for whatever reasoning they have.
I believe what will keep the price stable now is the announcement of the ETF by the Winklevoss's and what that could reap for bitcoin by the ones that are not totally convinced of BTC as a viable option to compete with other fiat and assets like gold and silver for that matter.
We will just have to wait and see what the SEC has to say now.
Nay or yey!

Are they in for losing their credibility easily ?

I understand that it's only social media, but why they didn't wait for the hearing at the 11th then create that account unless, in a way or another, they are sure they will have the ETF operated ?!

I think we're all wondering about that. If the decision goes against them, their credibility will take a big hit, for sure.

Saying they'd have egg on their faces is an understatement. They'd be a laughingstock.

That's why I was wondering if they were privy to some inside information but not in a position to divulge it, or where it came from.

I guess there's not much we can do except wait and see what happens in March.

I have a simple reasoing on the matte: the US already handled lots of Bitcoins (seized coins from SR mostly). Why they should not keep a competitive advantage by giving a chance to a regulated Bitcoin ETF which bring some more taxes in?
I personally feel that this ETF has 85% chances of approval.  Wink
If this ETF brings in taxes to the gov't then it will get approval in any country will and will pass.
What country in the world will not let themselves rake in free money from just having money sitting in securities?

Probably the latter. If the ETF is approved, I would expect the official websites for purchase to be:
schwab.com
fidelity.com
vanguard.com
etrade.com
scotttrade.com
...
etc.

Which, of course, is why ETF approval would likely be bullish.
It being bullish is not in question here.
That is the point of it. To downcast any kind of market manipulation from going on.
It is a security as most have defined it as in recent threads.

If bitcoin market cap were to equal that of gold's (today), that would be about the price.

#justsayin
But gold can not be manipulated so easily in the market as bitcoin can and is being done currently.
Until it can get a good backing like gold has in the federal reserves it will never be even close as stable as the gold prices are changing in the form of $2-20~ a per day.

Bitcoin was on Bloomberg live TV about 15 minutes ago, interviewing some guy about the ETF.

They weren't sure if the Winklevoss twins would use their own coin or have to buy more on the open market.

Whatever the case, they said there's going to be a huge run on Bitcoin in the event the SEC passes.  Very bullish.

Hope they archive it soon.

https://www.bloomberg.com/live/us

B...but weren't we told yesterday that all media is evil and they just ridicule Bitcoin and say its all a big hoax?  Huh

Just jokin...  Grin

Here's another choice one from Bloomberg.
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-03-03/bitcoin-is-now-worth-more-than-gold

Notice the main title:
"Bitcoin Soars to a Record High"

Sounds really positive for a change, right?

Then looks what slaps in the face you next.  The subtitle:
"How long can this rally last? After a peak in 2013, bitcoin fell 53 percent."

They make sure to pepper the negatives right away, and throughout the articles. They want to make sure Average Joe is scared shitless to stay away. Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

People don't realize that Bitcoin is not just the Next Big Thing. (Aka a fad that will sooner or later die off)

It is the Forever Big Thing.  That will keep on getting bigger.

BusinessInsider makes sure to jump on the negative... again.  Check out that headline:
http://www.businessinsider.com/bitcoin-price-crashes-after-the-sec-rejects-the-wiklevoss-twins-etf-2017-3

but... but... they're not against Bitcoin?? Right???
Already?
But who will be the replacement?
Remember from the Sith motives.

Buggy BU with a remote crash vunerability. Even after a year those ''skilled'' BU dev didn't noticed it, while pushing it asap  Shocked

I haven't had time to review this vulnerability but that might be way worse than it sounds. Most "crash from remote" vulnerablities are due to buffer overflows which can lead to exploit from remote when more finely crafted.

Maybe this is enough to create some awareness of the importance of following the right process instead this children fights.

This is not a children fight, BU is a very bad update for Bitcoin.
Kind of glad that I didn't go with it before this happened.
It has to be pretty patched to get any one to put any faith into what we have now with the current blockchain.
Unless people are viewing this as a layer or alternative to it and of it instead.
